Season 9: Mythical Wishes to begin in Pokémon GO from December 1st, new info about other upcoming events for December

Niantic has released details on Pokémon GO's upcoming new season: Mythical Wishes. This new season will run from December 1st at 10am to March 1st, 2023, at 10am local time. Alongside this announcement, Niantic have also released details on a number of activities, bonuses, and events that will be running in Pokémon GO during December.

Pokémon labelled with ⁂ below have a chance of appearing in their Shiny variant.

Season 9: Mythical Wishes
The trailer for this season highlights several Legendary Pokémon, including Latios and Latias, as well as teases for the Pokémon GO debuts of Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon, and Mega Rayquaza.

Seasonal Bonuses
The following bonuses will be active throughout Season 9: Mythical Wishes:

• Increased damage for Pokémon participating in raids remotely
• Trainers level 31+ will receive a guaranteed 1 XL Candy for each trade
• All Trainers will receive 1 additional Candy for each trade
• Trainers will be able to open up to 40 Gifts daily, and send up to 125 Gifts daily

Research Breakthrough encounters
After completing seven days of Field Research tasks, Trainers will be able to encounter one of the following Pokémon:

GO Battle League: Mythical Wishes
GO Battle League: Mythical Wishes, will begin with the start of the season from December 1st, at 1:00pm (PST, GMT-8). We'll release a detailed article on everything you can expect from this new Battle League season soon.

Other changes and updates

New features
Additional sizes of Pokémon will soon be appearing in-game, with new XXS and XXL sized Pokémon.

New Permanent Bonuses
The following bonuses will be active permanently starting from the new Season:

• Guaranteed Gifts from PokéStop spins
• Increased Incense effectiveness while moving

Seasonal Themed Stickers
Starting from Season 9, for each season Trainers will be able to receive season-themed stickers by spinning PokéStops and opening Gifts. Players will also be able to purchase season-themed stickers directly from the in-game shop.

Retirement of the Classic Cup format
The Classic Cup format will be retired from the GO Battle League following the end of the Mythical Wishes season. This change is happening as a result of Candy XL becoming more accessible. Following Classic Cup's retirement, Premier Cups will be run more frequently in future seasons.

A different Pokémon and special bonus will be featured every Tuesday from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm local time:

• December 6: Wooper ⁂ | 2× Stardust for catching Pokémon

• December 20: Bergmite ⁂ | 2× Candy for catching Pokémon
• December 27: Cubchoo ⁂ | 2× Candy for transferring Pokémon
