Wow Umbreona, that's really lucky. I've always coveted the shiny forms of a lot of the safari zone Pokemon, but I'm afraid that if I were to run into one, it'd flee and I'd be devestated. xD (This did happen once with a Teddiursa in Emerald, but my nephew managed to catch it for me. I was too scared to even do anything in case it ran away...)

What I usually do to make some quick money is use the vs seeker to battle that old couple on route 212 over and over. They only have one Pokemon each, and with amulet coin equipped, you can get up to $24,000 per battle. You can make a lot of money in a very short period of time that way.

Now, back on topic... no luck with chaining for me lately. =( I've been trying to go after a Magnemite swarm but it's not working too well. What I really, really want is a shiny Beldum... but I've never ever had one swarm before. I don't like resetting my clock, so I hope I manage to get one by luck sometime soon. (And that's just the beginning... from what I've heard, it seems that Beldum is one of the absolute hardest Pokemon to chain.)

I'm sucking at chaining right now. Lickitungs are swarming for me so I might go and try to chain them. Though right now, my highest chain is 8 -_- How do you guys get it all the way up to 40? O.O
Also I don't have an amulet coin, how do you get it? xD

Amulet Coin is inside Amity Square, get yourself a cute pokemon and go in with your dowsing machine app. and look around, think it's somewhere on the north end.

And don't worry about only getting low chains to start off, it takes practice to get your own working strategy to maintain a chain. Took at least a dozen chain attempts on Ralts for me to just get past 10, but once I worked it out, and became more careful about what I do, I slowly got higher and higher til I was able to hit 40.

It's all practice practice practice, use the guides in the thread and tips from us, and keep trying. ^^;

I had hoped for the same, but have you ever looked at what route they appear on? Perpetual sandstorm there, you can hardly tell what grass even shook. >.<

Thanks for the advice - right now I'm chaining Lickitungs. I'm at about 12 or 13 right now. Wish me luck for a shiny :D

It won't leave until you quit or break the chain. You can chain past midnight on a swarm without it ending. Congratulations on the absol. I WILL get mine someday.

Actually, I had Absol swarming one day when I checked Dawn's sister at around 8 o' clock, and I turned the clock back a few hours just in case and started to chain. At around 2 in the morning (~10 PM in game) I went to bed because I was exhausted and just closed the DS. My chain was at 63, and when I woke up it was the next day and I tried the pokeradar, got an Absol to get to 64, and after I fainted it the pokeradar said "The grassy patch remained quiet.", so I'm pretty sure swarms end past midnight even if you are chaining them. :/

Like Cebaron said, lots of practice... but even with as long as I've been chaining and as many shinies as I have now, it still takes me many tries to get to 40. Usually my chain breaks way earlier than that. But if I'm determined enough, I've always been eventually able to get that shiny. ^^ So don't feel bad, just keep at it!

Yeah, that's actually what I meant when I said they're one of the hardest to chain. However, I've chained in the sandstorm area before and was able to do okay, even if it was extra tricky. I think a certain lighting helps.

I also hear they have an extremely low catch rate, combined with the tendancy they have to kill themselves with take down... yikes. I'm going to have to come up with a good capture plan ahead of time if I ever do get a Beldum swarm.

Right, during my Beldum swarm I had a few days ago, I wasn't even able to catch a non-shiny. They have a 3 catch rate, identical to most legendaries, went through 30 dusk balls per Beldum and none worked.

All I can suggest is bring a way to put them to sleep so they don't do that take down self killing like you said.

Wow. Had no idea pokemon could be suicidall... Just kidding. I hate it when a pokemon I want to catch uses one of those attacks that makes them faint x_x

You double posted =Dragonite=. Thats a no no:nono:

Well, for struggle, When take down runs out, will the beldum use struggle. Struggle also hurts itself.

And for the shiny grass, a Roserade will be awesome. I have a modest nature Roserade (shiny) from chaining, and it hasn't failed me yet.
You could also chain eevees for leafeons, snover, or lotads for a staller.
