Eluxte ! -- let me gently point out you have a choice here. And this may be the best juncture to consider your options. You can turn around and walk away and TRY to forget all about chaining for shinies -- an activity that can take over your life!! Or you can start your adventure pursuing the sparkly little beasts. The direction your life takes may be hanging in the balance!

If you choose the latter you might peruse the following posts on this thread:
#1 – Shuko
#89 – Shuko
#126 – Shuko
#1501 – Skye
#3261 – Totoro

I am just half way joking about your life being on the line -- but welcome and good luck -- AND, you are certainly invited to throw your 2 cents in here -- we are all continually working on trying to figure out this chaining for shinies thing -- we're all more or less in the fog and trying to find our way.

After more abuse of the Emerald RNG (Got a shiny Anorith and Mew out of the deal) I think it's time to get back to chaining. Recommendations?

Snesal or Stunky or ralts

Congrats on the mew!

Did you by any chance clone it and be willing to trade one away?

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

Hey, can anyone offer advice for chaining banettes? (I probably just spelled that wrong) I've gotten nincada, sneasel, and electrike from chaining, so I understand the basics. However, the area for banettes is small enough that I never seem to get the chain higher than 20. Any points of advice for chaining in small places?

Also, caught 4 shiny electrikes yesterday, and would appreciate suggestions for good names?

edit: found a much better place to chain by approaching from the east.

I definitely did NOT clone it. C'mon, how many people can say they have a legit shiny Mew? :p

So clones are considered hacks? Makes sense...but then it means that the cloned shiny Latias I have is technically a hack :-(

So, last night, I found an Adamant Synchronize Ralts in my PC. Any suggestions on what I could use it to sync a chain for?

Edo: Either Pinsir or Sneasel would do fairly well adamant, and both look really distinctive in their shiny form. Pink and purple to victory?

Haha, the only problem with Pinsir is that I have Diamond. And I've always seen people suggest that Weavile be Jolly.

If I recall correctly, Pokesav cloning, and even AR cloning, can be traced and identified as a hack. The Emerald glitch for cloning probably wouldn't leave any traces. However, I was saying that I wanted to keep the number of shiny legit Mews low :p

I'm gonna start training it and my shiny Adamant Armaldo now.

Well, they're not hacks if you take advantage of the in-game glitches in order to clone. It's just that they're not as unique or special, I suppose... but it just depends on whether that matters to you or not.

As for what to chain... hmm, I feel like most of the adamant things I chained for were from swarms. So check your swarm. Otherwise, maybe Rhydon? I so regret not bringing a syncher for that, since I ended up with all crappy ones.

Haha, the only problem with Pinsir is that I have Diamond. And I've always seen people suggest that Weavile be Jolly.

Yeah, Weavile should be Jolly. It does not like taking hits. My Jolly one has crap IVs so I know this for a fact... I've been meaning to rebreed a long time now.

If I recall correctly, Pokesav cloning, and even AR cloning, can be traced and identified as a hack.

Is that so? Well, that sucks. I've been considering it ONLY to back up my data, just in case of some horrible tragedy. I would really hate to lose all the work that went into my game, and all the valuable Pokemon (okay, I guess that's redundant).

I still have yet to check my Gligars. I'm so tempted to keep on chaining, but I think I'm taking a break for a while so that I can improve one of my teams for Wiil's tournament.

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

After quite a while, I finally got a chain of Grimer going. Got to 40 on my third try, and it leeched 2 shinies. Sassy and Calm, I prefer the Sassy one.

I had Beldum swarming yesterday, but I found it impossible to chain in that sandstorm. :-( I guess i'll never get my shiny Metagross, hope you have better luck than me when they do swarm!

Anyone have tips on chaining Electrike?
I've been trying all day, and it always breaks around 15-20. =C

I would suggest this -- don't go to the shaking patches that will cause the chain to break! :p

As far as some more useful tips -- that's what this thread is about. There's a lot here to mine that will help your chaining for shinies.

Start mining and good luck
