Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

I'll take it...who knows? If it gives people who are good at chaining bad luck, it might bring someone who has bad luck with chaining (like me) good luck. Or...just make my luck worse. If you decide to trade it, though, I'll still take it.

Ill keep that in mind ill leave you a visitor message if i decide to ditch the lil guy

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

I've never tried but the common word is that you can not continue a chain after turning off your DS (DSi?). I always put the DS into "sleep" mode (shut the lid) and plug it in so the battery stays charged.

Hope that helps - good luck chaining for shinies!

if (dsi?) is you asking what the heck is that i believe its the new ds coming out looks like ds lite but has camera thats about all i know

Nope wasn't asking but wasn't assuming either. Some folks have DSi already having gotten the Japanese model. Good luck chaining for shinies!

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

i just ran into a shiny bibarel in the safari zone.
and the dumb thing got away.
is there a trick to catching pokemon in the safari zone that nobody is telling me?? i don't like bibarels or even bidoofs much at all, but i like shiny pokemon, and it would have been great to have caught it.
any help?

Wow, you seem to be good at running into random shinies. If the Great Marsh is anything like the Safari from Fire Red/Leaf Green, then I've heard that throwing mud makes the Pokemon angry and more likely to flee, but if it stays, you have a better chance of catching it. If you throw food, it has a better chance of sticking around longer, but a lower chance of actually staying in a ball. Either throwing a ball immediately or throwing mud/rock seems to work well enough for me... although, it would be a really tough decision in the case of a shiny.

Nice work on everyone's shinies. I've been so tempted to chain, but I've been pulling my hair out over making a new team... and when Platinum comes out next week, I'll be trying to balance playing through that with not slacking off with school stuff, somehow. :p I can't wait to chain in Platinum, but it's gonna suck breeding/catching extra synchronizers. :/

Shiny - DO NOT CONTINUE YOUR CHAIN PAST 40!! There is no benefit - no increase in probability of encountering a shiny after your chain has reached 40. Just start resetting and watching your step pathway so you don't accidentally go into an unintended shaking patch.

Good luck chaining for shinies!

Really? I thought the chances keep on increasing and increasing, but at 40 they just begin to be more common..

I have gotten to 32 and my brother has gotten to 40 before.. but no luck

If you get to like 35 should you stop for the risk or keep going?

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

If you have a lot of patience, 35 is okay.

While I was gone this weekend, I chained a shiny Pichu :D Evolved it into Raichu and its named Zeus right now.

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

I typed up a guide for the new people at pokeradar
shiny hunting. gawd, it took me forever to type and edit! x__x
its even got the formula for the shiny rate when chaining.
just plug in the number of pokemon you chained so far.
(and yes, the shiny rate does not go up past 40.)
ive caught 22 shiny pokemon so far, so this is obviously reliable.
and shuko, it mensions you, and gives the link to the front page
with your post. :D

its in depth and detail. feel free to download, or print.
its just a word doc.

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

Pink Leon - I hope I don't sound abrasive by saying this, but I hardly find your guide in-depth and detailed. In fact, it's hard to even read. Actually capitalizing sentences would help, as well as eliminating all the unnecessary line breaks, and using clearer organization of ideas/topics (the "abilities that will help you" is a good start though), etc.

While I realize that you are trying to expand what is written about chaining on the first page of this thread, it's still inadequate, and there are other guides that do a better job of explaining things. "Time bomb" for instance doesn't even make sense - there is a good reason why chains break in those instances that you listed, which you don't seem to understand.

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but I'm trying to say that if you want people to spend their time using your guide over this thread's guide or some other ones on the internet, you need to try harder to make it stand out, and show a better understanding of all the intricacies of chaining.

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

its in-depth and detailed, but i have problems organizing ideas.
that, i must admit, was kinda mean. i spent 2 hours on it
with the information i had.
the point is for you to read it as a whole. not small bits, like
you probably did. if you dont wanna take the time, than dont.
*shrug* simple enough, right?

Re: Shiny Pokemon with the Pokeradar

I'm sorry, I certainly didn't mean to hurt your feelings. I was just trying to give you constructive criticism. The thing is, I tried to read it as a whole, and it was difficult to follow. I was trying to say that if you want people to take the time, you need to organize your ideas more clearly. It's okay to have problems doing that, you just need to work on it, is all.

You know, dukeburger is right. I have also read your guide, and I can understand what you were trying to say, but like you said, that guide is for noob(beginner) chainer. I too think you should make it a little easier to read, with the use of capital letters, paragraphs etc.

And please don't take this the wrong way, we are just trying to help you. :)
