Throughout the countless regions of the world, Coordinating, or participating in cosmetically-centered Contests for pokemon, has undergone a continual growth in popularity. Countless individuals have taken a shine to this spectacular opportunity to display their pokemon at their very best. Whether they be old, young, experienced, inexperienced, skilled, or mundane, Pokemon Contests have something for everyone.
This exponential growth, coupled with the plethora of recent discoveries pertaining to pokemon themselves, has contributed greatly to the rise of several new Coordinators. Coordinators who stand above the crowd, for any of a multitude of reasons. In an effort to instill this drive in other aspiring contestants, the committee behind the annual Grand Festival in Hoenn has decided to hold a special competition for select Coordinators. Individuals from across the world have been specially picked to participate in this competition, dubbed the Premiere Cup. This is the story of those Coordinators. There will be many trials. Dreams will be chased. Battles will be fought. In the end, there will be only one Champion, but many winners.

Overview
This will be a RP focused on one aspect of the Pokemon Universe which, in my opinion, has been under-represented on this site thus far: Contests. As such, this RP will more than likely be a bit different from most on this site. Your character will be a rising Coordinator who has displayed such skill and talent that they have been invited to attend the Premiere Cup in Ever Grande City. The participants will begin this story in said city. I will accept only up to nine other entries excluding myself.
As for how the contests will work, it will be as follows: Consider the initial appeal round to be your character's main introduction. Coordinators will be called into the main arena one at a time to create a visually pleasing appeal with one of their pokemon. As long as the appeal is moderately detailed, you can expect for your character to pass this round.
That being said, this is not an RP for the lazy or passive. Given the cosmetic and asthetic nature of Contests, vivid detail can and will be expected. Be creative. Paint a clear image for us to visualize.
After the initial round, the remainder's format will be shown in due time. This is not going to be a pure tournament RP. There will be some other aspects to it as well. Now that this overview is done.....

Rules
1. All standard BMGF rules apply here
2. The word of myself and any GMs I appoint is law
3. Avoid one-line posts. As I said before, this entire RP is centered around a competition of detail. Be creative
4. No God-Modding. Don't say a move hit an opponent without giving them a chance to react. On that note, don't say that your pokemon avoid every single attack. Be realistic and reasonable
5. No Tennising. Back-and-Forth posting creates a mess of pages for other members to have to go through and frustrates everyone. Let the others post some too.
6. Keep OOC posts to a minimum. I plan to make a thread for them later on. This also clutters up the RP. If you have a question or concern, alert me or one of my GMs
7. If you are going to be unable to post for a period of time, just let us know. That way, we can help each other and find a way to keep the RP moving without abandoning a character, and avoid waiting two weeks for someone to come back from vacation.
8. If you read this post, put the word flamboyant somewhere in your sign-up
9. All GMs and I reserve the right to change these rules as we see fit

Name: Thomas Floresca
Age: 17
Gender: Male
Hometown: Floaroma Town, Sinnoh
Appearance: Thomas has the appearance that would make him appear to have an ego, if male stereotypes were to be of any reference. Thankfully, they're not. Regardless, he measures out at about 5'7 or so, and maintains a moderately thin torso. Due to his own physical habits, his torso, especially his midriff, are fairly muscular. However, unlike most individuals his age, he actually avoids showing off his muscles, sticking to comfortable t-shirts and khaki pants when weather permits. Unless there is some reason for him to do otherwise, he almost always can be seen wearing a pale pink t-shirt, khaki pants, a light green jacket, and black running shoes. However, when he is participating in a contest, Thomas' wardrobe does a complete proverbial u-turn, typically consisting of black dress slacks, a scarcely seen green t-shirt, and a custom-made rose red jacket, which features several outlines of said flower on its back and shoulders. In simple terms, the flamboyant side most would expect from Thomas makes itself known when he is coordinating.
Background: Thomas was born to a relatively wealthy family residing in Floaroma Town. Owning a considerable share of the nearby Valley Windworks and Fuego Ironworks, his parents were considerably more well-off than most other residents. As one would expect, they made sure that their son had the absolute best of everything, even from the time he was in a crib. However, there was one specific area that they did not lavish their firstborn: pokemon. For reasons still unknown to Thomas this very day, his parents actively tried to keep him away from the life of a trainer that most children would desire. Instead of taking him to the nearby Meadow to watch grass-type pokemon, they would hire piano tutors for him. For eleven years, their efforts were successful, with the only brief inclusion to living with pokemon being his family's attendance to the Sinnoh Grand Festival for a business meeting.
However, on the morning of his twelfth birthday, Thomas decided to leave the house and wander over to the meadows which seemed so mysterious to him.
Upon reaching the meadow, he was shocked to see an obviously injured Ralts trying to flee from an enraged Beedrill. Doing as most would in the situation, Thomas quickly grabbed the Ralts and fled the meadow, though he did sustain a noticable cut on his right arm in the process. Upon returning home, his parents were shocked to see him carrying a bleeding Ralts into their home, only growing even more concerned once they noticed his own injury. Thankfully, they allowed him to keep the pokemon, but not in any sort of conventional way. Until his thirteenth birthday, Thomas only occasionally got to spend time with his Psychic type pokemon, which he nicknamed Janet, his parents using it as a reward for his continued studies and behavior. Whenever Thomas wasn't getting to spend time her, Janet was trained by a professional pokemon breeder whom Thomas' parents hired. This made the relationship between the pokemon and its owner extremely spotty, and it would be doomed to remain so until the day Thomas turned thirteen. On that day, Thomas' parents essentially gave him an ultimatum: he could keep the Ralts and embark on a journey like so many others did, but he would have to relinquish many of the lavish luxuries he had come to enjoy, or he could release the pokemon, which had been trained to defend itself, and continue to live luxuriously.
Despite what his parents expected, Thomas chose to keep Janet and soon after leave Floaroma town to find his own place in the world. Vowing never to be the egotistical people his parents had all but become, he ventured around Sinnoh with no clear idea of what he wanted to do, since the brutal nature of conventional battling never appealed to him, thus scratching a Gym League challenge as a possibility. He traveled through the region for nearly a year and a half before he found his inspiration in Hearthome City, where he was fortunate enough to see the town's own Gym Leader compete in a spectacular Pokemon contest. From that moment onward, Thomas was determined to become a recognized Coordinator, quickly figuring out what pokemon he would want to use and subsequently traveling all over the region once more to obtain them. As he built up his team, he also began to enter the field of Coordination himself, after managing to convince his parents to pay for him to get a Contest Pass. Two years and countless contests later, Thomas had assembled his own dream team, which consisted of Janet (who had now evolved into a Kirlia but opted not to evolve further), Cascade (a Squirtle he hatched from an egg he received on his journey), Autumn (a Beautifly which he found in its infant form on a return trip to Floaroma Town), Regal (a Priplup he found near Snowpoint City), Vermillius (A Torkoal which he caught near Iron Island), and Kelbi (a Sawsbuck which he received in a trade at an exhibition Contest). Having gathered his ideal team, Thomas immediately sought out an opportunity to test himself and his new team. He found this challenge in an invitation to the Premiere Cup, and he plans to push himself and his team harder than ever in this new found competition.
Personality: Thomas is and for quite some time has been a hopeless romantic. Since early adolescence, he has had a strong affinity to the vivid mix of emotions that embody romance itself. This by itself has had a profound effect on Thomas' development as an individual. When in the prescence of a lady, he actively strives to act as a gentleman would, and at times will chastise others who do not do so. That being said, his romantic nature has gotten in the way of potential relationships on many occasions, as it was just too much for some girls to handle. Regardless, Thomas remains a calm and collective individual, focused intensely on the aesthetic and details of his work and his character. In most cases he tries to be helpful, but he still keeps an eye on potential competition for him and his team.
