Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gen 5)

I'm guessing there's no proven answer to this, but here's another question about the Dream World...

What governs the encounter rate for females? It's known that they're rarer than males, and the encounter rate for them has been estimated at 1 in 4, though in my experience it's closer to 1 in 8. But what I'm really curious about is whether the encounter rate varies by species, as it does for regular Pokemon. Would a female Igglybuff be easier to find than a female Aerodactyl, or do all Dream World Pokemon (with the exception of mono-gender species) have the same gender ratio?

One thing I do know is that back when DW Vulpixes anf Poliwags first came out, there were only males. However, Nintendo decided to release females of those after too many people started hacking them out. Basically, there may indeed be different ratios.

Can DW pokemon have held items? For example, i just got a spoink in the DW and it's currently waiting to be caught in the Entra Forrest. When i catch it, will it still have a 5% chance of having a Tanga berry like it would in the wild? And if so, will soft resetting work to try and get that item?

You cant soft reset Dream World Pokemon to have items attached, only to have a different nature. Their gender is also set. I dont think they have Tanga berries or any other items, items can be found in the Dream Wold though.

DW Pokemon don't come with held items but Tanga berry is easily obtainable on DW.

Gen III glitch, or...?

So I've been training a ton of my pokemon on Ruby by battling Interviewers Gabby and Ty.
I recently just battled them on the route above Mauville City, and once I finished, I flew to Mauville City and surfed over to the next place they're supposed to be at, but they weren't there.
I then flew to Fortree City and went to Route 120. They weren't there either. I then flew to Lavaridge and went to just above Mauville where I saw them last. They were still there. I talked to them, and the battle started. They won't move from their spot, but moving to a different route and then returning to them will make them want to battle again.
I tried everything I could think of. I agreed to be interviewed, but that didn't help.
Has this happened to any of you guys, and if so, do you know what this is or why it happens?

Nope, my Ruby game doesn't have the Berry glitch.

On the contrary, My Sapphire game DOES have the berry glitch, and Gabby and TY rotate their places just fine.

From what I remember, after either so many battles, or a certain amount of time they will stop traveling and stay on one route.

Oh, okay. That's probably the answer.
I've still been battling them, and nothing wierd or glitchy has happened, so I don't think this affects the game at all.
Thanks for answering, both of you! :)

Ah yes here we are:

Bulbapedia Article: Gabby and Ty Trivia said:
If Gabby and Ty are battled enough times, they will eventually stop changing locations, but will continue to battle the player.

So ya, not a glitch :)

It looks like you might have to get the Tanga Berry from others' Share Shelves, since going through the obtainable item list for each individual area didn't yield anything.

The "Super-Effective" Berries are only obtainable in the DW by way of when you first enter the DW, you are randomly given 5 of one type of SE berry. As stated above, the only way to get the other kinds of SE Berries is to grab them off of a share shelf.

Dang, so i guess the only way to get it is to just keep visiting random islands each day and hope i get lucky then, right? Man, that's gonna suck.

Why are these Pokemon banned from Little Cup?

Carvanha
Meditite
Scyther
Sneasel
Tangela
Vulpix
Yanma

I already know that they are broken, but tell me why each Pokemon is broken.

Carvanha and Yanma because of Speed Boost, Scyther and Sneasel because of being too fast/powerful, Meditite and Tangela because of Eviolite and Vulpix because of Drought, if I had to guess off of the top of my head.

Ok. I guess that sounds about right. I don't think so on Vulpix though.

I believe Vulpix would be the only weather-inducer in that tier, which would make Chlorophyll teams a nuisance.

Platinum-Missing Heatran

I'm not sure what happened or if I'm missing something or what. I did the storyline, went through the cave with Buck, defeated the Team Plasma guys and had the scene with Looker. I went back and talked to the guy in the house next to the survival area Pokemon Center and got his spiel about the volcano. But Heatran still hasn't shown up. Anyone know what's up?
