Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gens 1-7)

Does the Natures and Characteristics mechanics still apply to X/Y?

For those who have played the demo and the actual game in Canada/Europe, i just wanna know from the question on the title. Thanks :)

Re: Does the Natures and Characteristics mechanics still apply to X/Y?

We see some in some screenshots. The Josh Leaks' guy's Chesnaught has a Naïve nature, which seems to stay the same and a new(?) characteristic-often(?) takes siestas.

Re: Does the Natures and Characteristics mechanics still apply to X/Y?

I don't see why not. Nature is dictated by a Pokemon's personality value and their Characteristic is determined by IV's, so the question is not whether they exist but whether the user is informed about them (and again, I don't see why not).

for stats, I think i saw that words are blue and red again for - and +

Re: Simple Questions / Simple Answers (Gen 5)

Edit: yeah the events are received in the order you downloaded them.
You can swap the uncollected-upon wondercards around in the wondercard album, if you want to collect one pokémon before another.

In a situation where a lv1 foreign pokémon first in the party encounters a wild pokémon and is switched out, which one gives the most experience to the lv1 after battle is won: EXP Share or Lucky Egg?

If my math is correct, they would both give the same amount of experience, provided you only switch to one other Pokémon. Each Pokémon by themselves would get half of the experience just from being out. Exp. Share would take have of the total experience and give it to the Lv. 1, and then split the other half between the two, resulting in the Pokémon getting 1.5x the experience it would normally from that battle. As it just so happens, the Lucky Egg multiplies received Exp by 1.5 as well, so it would end up being the same number.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind, though. The Lucky Egg won't take away experience from the other Pokémon, so use it if you want to train up both Pokémon as well as possible. And if you do have to switch to more than one other Pokémon, the Exp. Share will be the better option for getting the most Exp. onto the Lv. 1.

Re: Simple Questions Simple Answers (XY Edition)

I was wondering if these versions would allow me and another friend to challenge 2 others on double battles via Wi-Fi. Will be this possible?

I've been trying to avoid spoilers on the pokedex so I've not looked into the leaks. Can anyone confirm if seasons make a comeback?

Is there going to be a casino/voltorb flip-like game again this time?

No one has mentioned a casino so far and they probably would if there was one, so likely not.

Night and day is back, though there's no difference in pokemon. Seasons don't seem to be present, instead it appears that different areas of the region represent the different seasons (South=Spring, West=Summer, North=Fall, East=Winter), but we don't know for absolute certain yet.

Nothing has been said about the PSS online battling capabilities yet (except that you can initiate them anywhere, without having to go to pokemon centers), so we don't know.

Re: Simple Questions Simple Answers (XY Edition)

Has anyone heard about version exclusives yet? What Pokemon will appear in which game?

Re: Simple Questions Simple Answers (XY Edition)

Thank you all! Why is this not on Bulbapedia?

EDIT: X has cooler mega evolutions.

The way it works is

- Each vitamin you give to a Pokémon increases its EVs i nthat stat by 10, up to a maximum of 100.
- The maximum amount of EVs a single stat can have is 255, and the most EVs a single Pokémon can have is 510.

So, say you gave as many vitamins as possible to your Dragonair's Attack, Defense, HP, and Sp. Defense. With 4 stats each at 100 EVs, that leaves 110 EVs left for your Dragonair to gain. That means that if even if every other EV your Dragonair gains is in Attack, it will max out it's Attack EVs at 210, 45 points less than it could possibly have.

It's not a big deal overall unless you're really into competitive play (and who knows, maybe the extra other stats could come in handy!), but if you want to change it, the best way to do so would be to use the EV-reducing berries to lower the EVs of stats you don't want on your Dragonair.

This section on Bulbapedia goes into a pretty good amount of detail as to how EVs work. If you have any more questions, I suggest looking through it to see if it has the info you are looking for.
