It stands for "Save Our Voice Actors." It means that you support the original cast of voice actors for the anime rather than the new ones. I happen to be a supporter of FATVA instead (see the HoS).

It depends. On my journey through Sinnoh back then, I was counting on Luxray, Infernape, Staravia, Quagsire, and a few others that I sometimes switch. And none of them are EV trained. But I managed to beat The Champion on my second try. You should try finding Pokemons that are dependable, not necessarily popular. Quagsire is not really that hot in the anime, but it's one of my favourite Pokemon.

Is there a site/area that explains why the tiers are the way that they are with some examples of move sets for those pokemon that are on those tiers? I haven't been exactly competative and want to try to learn different styles so I can breed more competative pokemon for people.

Despite the misconception, tiers are based on usage (though I wish it was usefullness), or atleast the "standard" one we all use. The only ones based on power are BL, where Pokemon who are too strong for UU go, and Uber, where Pokemon too strong for standard play go.

The phrase "too strong" does not stop at stats alone. The movepool and how it links up with the stats are taken into consideration, and whether they overcentralise the metagame.

Also if you want to learn to "breed competitively" movesets aren't enough. IVs are more important. Smogon's Breeding Guide

Smogon.com has Pokemon analysis. I know a coule other places, but posting them would seem like advertising since they aren't well known.

What types of pokemon should I have while on a journey in sinnoh?

I hate it when these questions pop up whent he answer is so obvious. Use Pokemon you want! This is your adventure through Sinnoh, why ask someone else on what you should use?

EV question

I'm not into that whole EV training stuff yet so i'm not sure about something

How do you know how many EV points a pokemon has for a certain stat?

Is there some way to see the EV's you get from training?

I'm guessing this's a stupid question

But I don't really know about this stuff..

-------
I've read in a thread that you won't be able to see the effects of EV training until after the pokemon reaches lv 100

And I thought that EV's are only used to be able to feed pokemon vitamins but I'm guessing thats not so..

So...

From the beginning from a pokemon hatching from an egg should EV training start immediately?

After getting all the needed EV's is the pokemon able to level up from any pokemon or would it just mess up the EV training of that pokemon?

And lastly are EV's and vitamins different?
Because I had thought that training for EV's allow more room to use vitamins.

You never know, unless you keep the count when you EV train. Except when the EVs are maxed, the girl in Sunnyshore will give you a ribbon.

EVs gained vary between Pokemon. A Starly gives 1 Speed EV, while a Staravia gives 2 Speed EV. And if you mean a way to actually see how many EV you've gain, the answer is none, unless you keep the count when you EV train (didnt I say this before? :) ).

I've read in a thread that you won't be able to see the effects of EV training until after the pokemon reaches lv 100
Not quite right. You CAN see the effect before you reach lvl100. When you reaches lvl100, you can see the full effect of the EV training.

It's the opposite.

Not necessarily. It'll be very hard to battle using a newly hatched Pokemon. Leave the Pokemon in the Daycare, use the Fuego Ironworks trick, and you might have a lvl50 Pokemon ready for battle, untrained EV.

After getting all the needed EV's is the pokemon able to level up from any pokemon or would it just mess up the EV training of that pokemon?
If the EVs are maxed, you can level up fainting any Pokemon.

And lastly are EV's and vitamins different?
Because I had thought that training for EV's allow more room to use vitamins.
Vitamins are used to gain the first 100 EV of that stat. Each vitamins gives 10EV, so feed 10 vitamins of the stat that you want to train, then continue with EV training.

I'm unfamiliar with the Fuego Ironworks trick, could you please explain it.

Also, there is an EV training thread in this forum.

@Dragonite

Let me see if I got everything right...

1. Before starting EV training in any stat I should first feed the pokemon 10 vitamins for that respective stat.
Even after maxing one stat, I should feed it another ten vitamins of another stat I want to train it in?

2. Once I get my desired EV's I'm free to kill any pokemon?

Is that all right?

One more thing? What's The "Fuego Ironworks Trick"?

Please state in mind that a Pokemon can only obtain 510 EV. So if the pokemon has maxed out it's 510, you can kill (faint) any Pokemon to level up. The maximum EV one stat can have is 255, so train the Pokemon accordingly.

As for the Fuego Ironworks trick, better check the Youtube. It'll be easier to understand. The trick can also be used to maxed out Happiness.

1) How long does it take to find a nosepass in sapphire? I have rock smahed hundreds of times in the granite cave near dewford where they are supposed to be found, and all I get are geodude or nothing at all. Seems more hard to me than getting feebas (which I still don't have)

2) On D/P, using covet in battle tower, does the pokemon that covetted the item get to use it during that battle?

3) I have contest pass in my sapphire game, but I can't get the word "contest" cause I was going to say "Challange contest" to the berry masters wife, but can't as I don;t have "contest" ): why not?

I just hatched a Riolu with near-perfect stats by sheer dumb luck, and I really want to be able to use it as a Lucario later on, but I'm not really sure how.

Riolu
Modest
No EVs yet
Hidden Power Electric
Max IV values (if current HP is 11)
HP: 19
Atk: 31
Def: 31
Sp.Atk: 29
Sp.Def: 31
Spd: 31

If her current HP is 12, the max IV spread is the same except that max HP also becomes 31. I'm thinking of turning her into a special sweeper if I end up with any of these stats being maxed out, so can anyone give me a possible moveset (without egg moves, please)?

Okay...I recently posted this Riolu on the RMT thread, and as of then, it had those stats. Today, I leveled it up to level 15 and evolved it -- but it's Hidden Power is no longer Electric! I even tried reducing all it's stats back to base value before teaching it, and it still wasn't electric. For my Lucario now, Seribii.net's max possible values place her stats at: HP-- 13, Atk -- 26, Def -- 26, SpAtk -- 23, SpDef -- 26, and Speed -- 13, with Hidden Power Fire. What the hell happened?!

Serebii is epic fail in competitive battling.

Use this calculator for better results: http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/OnlineProgram/Calculators/IV.aspx

If you keep track of your stats as you level up and EVs gained and type in all that information, it will give a more accurate result, and even suggest what you can do to narrow it down.

And I suspected as much when you posted all those stats, saying you recently hatched it. It gave a range from highest possible to lowest possible. Now it has narrowed it down. I seriously find it annoying when people think the highest possbile IV is what they will get especially at level 1 :/

After you actually get good results on IVs, use this: http://www.metalkid.info/Pokemon/OnlineProgram/Calculators/HiddenPower.aspx

that will give you Hidden Power.

I did mention that those were the maximum IV values given to me my Serebii, and on the RMT thread I also asked for an opinion "if any of those stats maxed out." But anyway, thank you for the links!

I get the feeling that this is covered somewhere else on this forum, but I can't for the life of me remember where. IV stands for Individual Value. These are random values from 0 to 31 that are calculated for each stat when you catch a Pokemon. These values account for natural variance in stats within a species (higher values mean higher stats). When you breed, some are passed down from the parent. They are highly valued in competitive battling for the stat increases.

hmmm, I think you would be better of waiting for the swarm event in D/P. I had the same problem in ruby, and again catching chimecho. the problem is that some pokemon are just too damn rare in R/S/E.

2) On D/P, using covet in battle tower, does the pokemon that covetted the item get to use it during that battle?
Should do, items are commonly used just as any other competitive enviroment- even among bots. Just make sure your pokemon is not already holding any items itself.

3) I have contest pass in my sapphire game, but I can't get the word "contest" cause I was going to say "Challange contest" to the berry masters wife, but can't as I don;t have "contest" ): why not?
Now this is a problem. 'contest' should already be in the vocab list to begin with. try to see if you overlooked it somehow or try using the alphabetical mode.
