again I ask a question!!

Are IV's random?
Do you just keep breeding till you get the right IVs you want?

and another question

if you breed a shiny, will the offspring be a shiny as well?

Yes, IV's are random. They were preset at the moment you enter a patch, or when the egg is given. just keep breeding with the Good IV'd parents. You'll eventually get one with the right IV's.

In Diamond/Pearl, shininess is not determined by IV, so the chance of getting a shiny offspring is the same whether the parents are shiny or not. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

Where is the best place to grow a large amount of berries at once?
In RS it was next to the berry masters house.

None exists. If I recall, a user named Hubologist made a map of places to plant berries. YOu can always look his account up and search for that thread.

or the most part yes, but like everything, there is a way to manipulate them. read this guide and the ones it links to

and another question

No, there was only an increased chance in GSC.

How on earth do you get a shiny charmander?

I was wondering what is the BEST way to get one. I am trying to breed one right now.

Are the IVs, Nature, and shiny/unshiny determined when the egg is hatching or when the egg is given to you? I tried saving just before the egg hatches and reseting over and over again but I realized I was getting the exact same charmander every time! Same HP, Same stats, Same everything.

Would it be better to buy a Fire Red or Leaf Green and keep reseting to try and get one as a starter? I know I'll never be able to get one in a trade because I don't have any shinies or event pokemon. Could someone please tell me how to get one?

Thanks in advance for the help!

As soon as the man hands you the egg, everything is set. I never liked hatching for shinies since biking can be a drag so soft resetting is easier (unless you get bored quickly). SRing usually gives faster results but breeding can give the shiny better stats/egg moves/nature so choose which one you prefer. Either way, good luck and I might have one up for trade..

If I recall, in every game after Emerald, everything is set as soon as the egg has formed.

I want to get Rayquaza in my sapphire game, is there anyway to get it as a shiny by when you approach to battle it? I have battled it 8 or more times and its not been shiny yet.

Also, I want to get either FireRed or LeafGreen, which one would be best to choose?

Not sure there is a very good place in D/P, all berry growing locations look all same, only 2-4 berries can be grown in any location.

Making your post double isn't very good.

First question: Keep on trying. THe game resets itself for shiny probablity, so you might want to have some coffee and lots of batteries.

Second question: It depends on your personal preference.

The chances of it being shiny are one in 8192 if I recall correctly. You're going to have to do this a lot.

I don't know why, but why is it that no matter how hard I try to understand IV's, no matter how many guides I read, and no matter how many questions I ask, I cannot get it!

is there a completely easy way to understand them?

or do I just have to ignore them?

IV's are a number from 0-31 that indicate a number of stat growth at level 100. Now, these are distributed around, so it's not like "Oh Wow! I got 31 HP gain at LV 100!" Quite honestly, other than stat gains and Hidden Power Calculations, aren't really useful, and you're probably better off keeping it in the back of your head as an explanation of why your Lv 100, 252 Speed EV, Jolly Salamence is faster than your opponents Lv 100, 252 Speed EV, Jolly Salamence.

Also, what is the best place to train levels. Generally, I do outside Stark Mountain. But is there a better place?

for berries that reduce EV's:
how much does the EV decrease by?
will it still decrease if you've got the effort ribbon?
can you completely reduce ALL EVs back to 0?

If your EV's are above 100, it lowers them to 100
If your EV's are below 100, it lowers them by 10
Yes, you can lower EV's if you have the Effort Ribbon
Yes, at max, 11 berries can lower your EV's to zero.

Just ignore them and stick to casual battling. Or use ShoddyBattle where the IVs are automatically put to the maximum so you don't have to learn how to breed, or be concerned about them.

What ways can you test to see if a pokemon is hacked or not that looks legit? I think I have some hacked pokemon that look legit, but I want to test them out to see if they are. I remember that the GTS stops hacked pokemon I think. But is there any other ways? Maybe Ranch or PBR?

PBR catches some and displays them as Bad Eggs. Other than that, there is no sure way to check (unless they're unobtainable legendaries...then there are several ways to check) that I'm aware of.

Does anyone know whether Nintendo or Gamefreak has commented on a possible change in EV training in future games?
Because I honestly find it absolutely tiring to EV train the way it currently is, I am also annoyed with how difficult it is to determine IVs forcing people to resort IV calculators.
The current system is amazingly clunky, unwieldy, opaque (no transparency involved anywhere), extremely annoying and flawed in almost every way. If they continue this system I will never battle competitively in tournaments or the like. The fact that fans have had to research all this stuff and that every manual is very superficial and contains no real information is a drag.

None that I know of, and it really doesn't take that long to EV train once everything is set up (having Pokerus, the bracces, and knowing where to train)

Gamefreak seems to have made it fairly easy for EV-training by actually putting trainers with multiples of the same Pokemon.

For example, there is a trainer with a 5 Bidoof, and another with 5 Magikarp. This allows for 252 EV training in HP and speed to go by in 5 battles (assuming you have the right brace and Pokerus)

this is not whoring this thread out. It is actually relevant to this post. Skip to the "Places to EV train" section. The first one usually holds the places that it is best to EV train at. Scrollling to the bottom shows Multi-Pokemon EV training methods.

I doubt they actually meant for people to manipulate IVs as far as they had,a nd was likely only implenented to show variety in ones strength.

I wouldn't say flawed, but I would say that it makes no sense. Though, like athletes in real life, I guess Pokemon could be seen training specific muscle groups, thus the repetitiveness. I doubt we will ever see the end of repetitiveness in training, nor will we see them implement a new way to do it. Pokemon is primarily about the battles, so despite making absolutely no sense in how Pokemon get stronger this way, their apporach to it does make sense.

If they continue this system I will never battle competitively in tournaments or the like. The fact that fans have had to research all this stuff and that every manual is very superficial and contains no real information is a drag.

Well, it just shows the dedication of the fans for them toa ctually do this extensive research, but yes, I agree, they should not market those guides to us giving us useless information.

Also, lol.....

Its only very recently that Nintendo has realised that, the games, being the life-blood of the franchise should actually have tournaments. They barely have any, and if they did, it is likely you don't live anywhere near there.

EV-training isn't what's bad here. Its the IVs @[email protected]

I disagree. Pamtre and Micle berries have higher dryness. I'm just saying...

They also have other flavours which hinder the dryness value. Apicot is actually the best, then Wiki, then Pamtre.
