Some trainers in the game do level up their pokemons, but some dont e.g. the Bidoof guy and the Magikarp guy (probably for easier EV training).

Level ups are probably due to how many times youbattle them, like in FRLG, but like =Dragonite= said, only some will level up.

The number of times you battle them doesn't have to do with the leveling in diamond and pearl. I know this from experience (used that same spot to train for longer than my friend, but he got the higher levels first). It has to do with having battled Heatran.

How do you get the Pokédex to register the different forms of Burmy?

To get the Pokédex to register the different forms of Burmy, hatch an egg containing the form you want.

  • For the Sandy cloak, breed a Sandy cloak female with any compatible male or a Sandy cloak male with a Ditto.
  • For the Trash cloak, breed a Trash cloak female with any compatible male or a Trash cloak male with a Ditto.

Is that so? Thanks. I thought it an odd coincidence, especially considering I'd already battled on that Route the day before.

Does Focus Sash work when your opponent uses one of the OHKO moves (Sheer Cold and friends)?

If I give a Pokemon vitamins, does that cancel out some of it's EVs?

No. Vitamins count as 10 evs for a specific stat. But they can only be used up to the 100 Ev mark. So if you use a protein on a pokemon with 120 attack evs, the protein will have no effect.

So here's my situation:

I'm EV training a Stunky in attack, and it has the Pokerus. I battled 65 Shinx (each yielding 1 EV towards attack), meaning that Stunky gained 130 attack EVs. Since 4 EVs equals +1 point to a stat, Stunky should have gained a +32 in attack, rounding down. But when it's level went up, it only got +10. So I recalculated as if Stunky didn't have the Pokerus, but even then, it should have gotten a +16 rounding down (65/4).

So can anyone tell my why Stunky only got a +10? Did I not calculate something right?

you did every thing right the problem is that not all ev's are given during the first level up. they are added at level 100.

I have a question. I want a pikachu/raichu that knows thunderpunch and volt tackle so I got an apharados female that knew thunderpunch, would I need to breed it with a male raichu? None of my male pikachu will breed with it. Or what am I doing wrong? Also I have encountered many pichu/pikachu but no light ball yet

Females determine the species. Males are where the moves are inherited from. And Light Balls are fairly rare, but not impossible. I found two while chaining Pikachu (I don't believe they're found on wild Pichu), and I don't think my chain rose about 20.

One question. About the move Night Shade, it says that it's power is identical to the user's level. If I have a level 96 Gengar using that move, will the attack power become 96?

All EVs are taken into account for level up. There is an equation to determine the stats I believe.

With that said however, the whole "4 EVs = 1 stat up" scenerio is given to the level 100s, because that is when one sees the full effects of EV training.
