Where is the nickname rater? I need to name what will be my first competitive battling pokemon. Also, where would one find an Explosion TM?

Explosion TM can be won in the Veilstone Game Corner. If ten or more bonus rounds are played in a row, talking to the woman behind the counter will yield players TM64 (Explosion).

A quick question, out of curiosity, about Covet. Last night, I was on Route 222 attempting to catch one of the Swarming Skitty. One of them used Covet on my Sneasel, which I was alarmed about because I thought it had nicked my Razor Claw (I want to evolve her at some point).

And yet...she still has the Razor claw. So, am I right in thinking that Covet doesn't *always* take whatever item your Pokemon might be holding?

I believe that foe Pokémon can not steal and keep an item that is the players.

Oh, that's gonna be fun to do.

Why would Flash and Dive not being HMs affect a Pokemon's ability to be imported? You could trade Pokemon that were taught Waterfall in Gen II back to Gen I! Why's there no problem there?

Is there a time-limit to how long Mespirit will roam around after first encountering it at its lake? I ask because I'm not interested in legendary hunting at the moment, but do want to capture it at some point.

Why can't Pokemon with HM moves be imported into the Pal Park?

It's to keep you from being at a point in the GBA games where you need a hidden move to continue, but have already migrated that pokemon to the DS games.

Mainly it's just to keep you from getting "stuck" in a GBA game.

Because unlike the other HM moves, you can't actually trap yourself in an area by losing your Flasher or Diver alone.

If I recall, the only waterfalls in Johto were conviently located in caves which had no PCs for you to start releasing said Pokemon in the first place meaning you couldn'ty trap yourself in an area which needed waterfall.

And I can so tell that someone is going to ask "how do you trap yourself"

and I am really tired of explaning the multiple ways of how you actually can.

Do the natures of parents affect the offspring? Or are some natures just more common in some species of pokemon than others?

All natures are random. The natures of parents do not affect offspring, unless holding the everstone. If the mother holds the everstone, there is a 50/50 chance of the offspring inheriting that nature. In the case of Ditto-bred Pokemon, it is the Ditto who will pass on the nature.

On the topic of Amity Square. Occasionally when I'm walking my Pachirisu, I turn to her and text comes up saying 'Luminita is picking at the ground for some reason'.

Using the dowsing machine yields nothing, so could someone please tell me what that message means? Is it just referring to pokemon being able to pick things up in the Square?

@lucy anon: When in amnity square you read 'Luminita is picking at the ground for some reason', just keep walking around for a bit and check again, and your Pachirisu will have found something. The dowsing machine does not work in amnity square
