STAB is Same Type Attack Bonus. For example: A Charmander gets STAB for Flamethrower because both the Pokemon and the move are the Fire-type. It makes the move 50% stronger.

A sweep is used to refer to when a Pokemon with extremely high Speed, and Attack/Special Attack KO several Pokemon in a row, often when its stats are boosted.

IVs are Individual Values. These values define how much stronger a Pokemon will be when it goes into higher levels. Try reading a FAQ.

k im new to properly raising my pokemon
can someone define
STAB
sweep
iv's

also as a contribution to answers on this thread i suggest http://www.serebii.net/index2.shtml for almost everything pokemon related

Little tip: Don't advertise other sites, even if they aren't your own. Though, trust me, everyone here is probably aware of Serebii's site and either uses it or doesn't.

Ironically, by checking Bulbapedia, Bulbagarden's Wiki, you could have found the answer to what STAB and IVs are.

What's ironic is that some of Bulbapedia's pages, like its Weather page is a direct copy and paste from SPPf, down to every little mistake, such as the ones claiming that Thunder's accuracy is lowered in the sand.

Also, where do I find a Deep Sea Tooth and Deep Sea Scale?

Apparently (According to Serebii), the Tooth can be found held by wild Carvanha and Sharpedo, and the Scale can be found on wild Chinchou, Lanturn, and Relicanth.

On the topic of Amity Square. Occasionally when I'm walking my Pachirisu, I turn to her and text comes up saying 'Luminita is picking at the ground for some reason'.

Using the dowsing machine yields nothing, so could someone please tell me what that message means? Is it just referring to pokemon being able to pick things up in the Square?

Because when walk in amity squarre 200 steps with your pokemon and then talk to him, you will get item. Most of those items are just ascessories, but you can find berries and poitons some times. But Dowzing Machine wont show anything because pokemon finds items from nowhere. Rather use Step Meter to keep a track of 200 Steps.

Find out more:

Sorry for double post but this's an emergency.

I have puted a Poison Jab on my Infernape(its currently Lv52), I didnt know what the hell is STAB but I read this and found out.Anyway, Im about to delete Poison Jab, and I dunno what to put on him, should I put Will-O-Wisp(btw where can I find it) or should I wait untill its Lv57 to tech him Flare Blitz(ya, I know I mentioned on another thread that my Infernape is Lv87...well it is, actually I got 2 games(one D one P) and I have familiar teams on them).

Thanks to those who answered my last question.

I'm now looking to catch a female Eevee (I got a male from Bebe). The Trophy Garden's Bulbapedia page tells me that they're available there. However, what I need to know is how they're available.

Is it just a case of searching around until I run into one, using the pokeradar, or taking to Backlot in the mansion? Or indeed a combination of the above?

Thanks in advance for assisting my pokemon hunting!

Talking to Backlot.

Remember there is only a slim chance each day, so keep asking.

You can get the TM for Will-O-Wisp at the [bp]Battle Tower (Sinnoh)[/bp] for 32 Battle Points.

I would go with Will-O-Wisp over Flare Blitz, since your Infernape already has Flamethrower/Fire Blast. (Also, you might want to think about dropping one of those two fire moves for something like Stone Edge or Grass Knot)

Ah, now I know that bit, I've no problem taking my time over it when the opportunity arises. Cheers.

You can just save before you talk to Backlot. If the Pokemon that appear in the garden is not Eevee, you just soft reset the game.

Thanks for that.

I tried that just now, because first off he mentioned a Cleffa, which I acquired a while back. After resetting, he mentioned Porygon. I'm going to need one at some point anyway, so I went out and looked, finding and catching one in under five minutes, as luck would have it. Saved the game there because, wanting another Eevee or not, I'm not really going to turn my nose up at rare Pokemon required for the dex in the long run. Today has been a good day for catches, a couple of necessities in Camerupt, Torkoal, and a Cacnea, plus getting my hands on a Dratini and a Skarmory.

Wow. Someone's been busy.

the same af if you meet one in the grass 1/8192
S/G/C had better chances if you breed a shiny because color was based on IV's and could be passed to ofspring but in S/R/E D/P that was changed to some formula that had to do with your trainer ID and a few other factors.

Lucy Anon: An easier way to have done it would have been to save before you talk to Bebe, then soft reset until you got a Female -- the ratio of Males to Females in Eevees is something like 88 to 12, or something astronomical like that. However, though Backlot will tell you when there are Eevee in the garden, the easiest way to get to a Female is to chain them via PokeRadar. It's still gonna take a really long time, though. If you plan on using it for competing, rather than just breeding, it'll take even longer to get a female with a good nature for the evolution you want.

Anybody know why people on the GTS are all idiots and offer impossible and unfair trades?
Examples:
lvl 1 Pidgey for lvl 100 Palkia or any other legendary
lvl 1 mudkip for lvl 10 Houndoom (You can't get a Houndoom at lvl 10)
