Singapore police have announced they have arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of having cheated more than 15 victims of more than $176,000 Singaporian Dollars worth of Pokémon cards.

Police started investing after having received several reports from victims who claimed to have been scammed by an online seller who had been advertising Pokémon TCG cards at discounted prices, only to become uncontactable after victims had transferred payment via direct bank transfers. If found guilty, the man faces an imprisonment term of up to 10 years, and a fine, under Section 420 of the Singapore Peanl Code.

This is not the first time in recent memory that Singapore police have had to deal with Pokémon TCG scammers. Back in October, Singapore police arrested a 26-year-old man and a 17-year-old female teenager for their suspected involvement in a series of e-commerce scams involving the sale of Pokémon cards on Carousell, a Singaporean online auctions platform. We can only hope that, with this latest arrest, Singaporian police have now caught them all.

Singaporian police have reminded members of the public to be very careful when making online purchases, using buyer protection, avoiding advance payments, and purchasing only from authorised sellers and reputable sources.
