Actually, all three of them are Pokemon Trainers; a "Pokemon Trainer" is a general term for anyone who owns a Pokemon that either battles with them, cares for them, or trains them. Coordinators and Performers are just Pokemon Trainers who specialize in certain areas, like the trainer classes (Firebreathers, Swimmers, Fairy Tale Girls, etc.) from the main games.
Coordinator/ Performer is a type of career that steams from being a trainer.
We also have a possibility of Lillie being a type specialist, providing she catches that Sandshrew. Alolan Vulpix and Alolan Sandshrew are actually pretty good together.

She still doesn't have any Pokemon of her specialty type though. She specializes in Fairy, not Ice.

Lillie is going to become an Ice Trial Captain as soon as the obvious concept of a Trial Captain dawns on Kukui or whoever decides on that.
How do you know that? I would like to know because Lillie is a Fairy type specialist not an Ice type specialist and how do you know shes going to be an Trial Captain?

Her game version does. Not the anime one.

Also, the concept of Trial Captains doesn't even exist in the anime.

The anime has had characters branch out from their specialty types before, but they've never outright changed them.

Until it's stated otherwise, Lillie is still a Fairy type trainer.

I was kidding, but just because Trial Captains don't exist now doesn't mean that won't change by the end of the series. She might just give the island challenge a go, though.

Lillie's recent two episodes have been about snow or ice. I'm pretty sure that the writers don't care about her Battle Tree team, and would have given her a Clefairy by now.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with categorizing Lillie as a Fairy type specialist. Shiron, at this point, has not learned any fairy type moves. And let's say for arguments sake that the capture doesn't happen, it's a coin flip right now, and Lillie uses that Ice stone to evolve Shiron, if not in that episode, then down the line to acquire that Fairy typing. It does not change the fact that Alolan Ninetales primary type is Ice with Fairy being a secondary typing that's essentially a type bonus.

I get that she had a Clefairy in the games, but this is the anime and different rules will apply for different characters.

The anime Cilan has literally onc Grass Type. It’s a stretch to call that 'branching out' when he used a single grass type.

The game Cilan was a grass specialist while the anime Cilan doesn’t specialise in a particular type. That’s a change in speciality.

Lillie's character has been written differently in the anime from the games right from the very beginning.

In the games, she is not afraid of pokemon and has no problem being around them, but in the anime, she was terrified of them.
In the games, she expresses a dislike of pokemon being battled with, a feeling that she has never shown in the anime.
Another change that was made was that she did not find Nebby & raise it, Ash found Nebby & raised it.

My own personal feelings about this episode, after viewing the latest preview, is that Tyranitar is trying to move into the cave & is terrorizing the other pokemon that live there. This particular Sandshrew has decided that it wants to stand up to Tyranitar and battle it. With Vulpix's help, it manages to drive the Tyranitar from the cave (maybe evolving into Sandslash during the battle). It may likely decide to remain in the cave to continue protecting the other Sandshrews & other Pokemon.

Even if that's wrong & Lillie does catch it, which may be an indication that she is on her way to becoming an ice type specialist, the only thing that would mean is that the anime writers are continuing to write her character differently than how she is portrayed in the games, as they have done from the beginning.

And yes, Marowak is an asshat & Kiawe really needs to get that thing under control. Sheesh.....

Even if Lillie doesn’t catch Sandshrew, its likely that Vulpix could learn a new move, so it wouldn’t be entierly filler.
Tbh, given how Sun & Moon has been going, I honestly expect that Lillie will have Snowy use Hail for Slush Rush and Aurora Veil, Aurora Veil because Aurora Veil, and lastly Powder Snow spam/manipulation along with whatever Sandshrew will contribute. Oh, or Ash may come in to save the day with a last minute Gigavolt Havoc because why not upstage Lillie like he did in Ultra Space.

@A Wild Luxray
I believed, her next move will be Ice Beam, that will replace the Powder Snow since it getting more powerful every each day. The desire to protect someone that drive the miracle to happen.

i saw a ice stone in a preview
i think one of the sandshrew is going to evolve into sandslash

If someone evolves, I think it'll be Vulpix. For some reason Sandshrew just seems too obvious. Quite honestly I think the Sandshrew will just be a POTD.

They aren't going to evolve Shiron after releasing a "Lillie's Shiron" plush. It will be a Vulpix forever, or at least until Lillie leaves the show, because Lillie can't walk around with a Ninetales.

While I think evidence points to the stone being used on Sandshrew, I also think that Snowy could still evolve at a some later point.

@Rath
Well, Alolan Ninetales is pretty small compare to original. I wouldn't be surprised if Lilie tried to use it and then suddenly Tyranitar accidently destroy it. Those Ice stone fragments allowing both Shiron and that Alolan Sandshrew to absorb it to evolve.

You just love speculating about the unlikeliest of scenarios, don't you?
