I think they will evolve by fusing together. That's how it happened in The Two Professors.

Apparently Meltan itself is a devolved form of Melmetal.

Professor Willow also states that Meltan is said to be created when it splits from Melmetal.

Melmetal can split itself into multiple Meltan.

In that case, Ash's Meltan will almost certainly fuse with the others after the league, leaving Ash.
