Pokémon GO - Catching Some Z's event - Snorlax Pattern Night Cap
Ahead of the upcoming North American release of the Pokémon GO Plus + device on July 14th, Niantic has released details on a new event in Pokémon GO to mark the occasion. The Catching Some Z's event, which will run from July 15th at 10:00am through to July 16th at 8:00pm local time, will feature the debut of the Drowsing Pokémon Komala, as well as Snorlax wearing a nightcap.

The Pokémon GO Plus + is a peripheral for use with both Pokémon GO and Pokémon Sleep. It functions similarly to the Pokémon GO Plus but with the added functionality of tracking time spent sleeping to affect gameplay in Pokémon Sleep. Originally announced over 4 years ago at the Pokémon 2019 Press Conference on May 29th, 2019 for a 2020 release alongside Pokémon Sleep, both app and device were effectively vaporware with the until more information was eventually revealed in Pokémon Presents on February 27th of this year, in which both announced to be releasing in Japan, the Americas, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan on July 14th, and in Europe on July 21st.

This event's debut of Snorlax in a nightcap is of course a reference to the upcoming Pokémon Sleep app, where the famously sleepy Pokémon features as the central character. As reported earlier this week, Players who link their Pokémon Sleep game to a Pokémon GO Plus + device will be able to encounter a special nightcap-wearing Pikachu in Pokémon Sleep. This Pikachu lives inside of the Pokémon GO Plus +, and acts as a bonus helper Pokémon above the normal limit of 5. The more the device is used, the more friendly this Pikachu will become with the player, collecting more berries for Snorlax. For those who struggle to sleep without a little white nouse, Pikachu can even sing them a lullaby every night as the device starts tracking their sleep. In addition to these in-game functions, the Pokémon GO Plus + can also function as an alarm, with Pikachu letting out a cry from inside the device at players' selected wake-up and bedtimes. More cries are unlocked as nightcap-wearing Pikachu gets friendlier with the player.
