Snorunt, Bergmite, and Cryogonal feature in this Saturday's Catch Mastery event in Pokémon GO

Niantic has released details on the upcoming Catch Mastery: Ice event in Pokémon GO, that was first announced last week alongside the release of information on the Timeless Travels season. The event will be held in-game this Saturday, December 9th, from 10:00am to 8:00pm local time.

Event Bonuses and Activities

• Increased chance of encountering Shiny Snorunt, Shiny Cryogonal, and Shiny Bergmite.
• 2× XP for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice Throws, Great Throws, and Excellent Throws.

Free and Paid Timed Research
Timed Research focused on catching Ice-type Pokémon will be available throughout the event. Trainers who complete all 10 sets of research tasks will earn encounters with a total of 40 Cryogonal.

Trainers will also be able to purchase additional Timed Research for US$2.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in each local currency). This Paid Timed Research is identical to the free Timed Research, and will award Trainers with an 40 additional Cryogonal encounters if fully completed.

The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild during this event:

Field Research Task Encounters
Field Research Tasks focused on Poké Ball–throwing accuracy will be available during this event. When completed, Trainers will receive an encounter with Cryogonal, which has the chance of being shiny.
