Dustin chucked at his partner's clever plan. "Indeed. It's moments like this that make teaching worthwhile... But an emergency really? Way to be melodramatic." He teased lightly.

Axel placed his sketchbook in his bag as he walk up into the line to receive his Pokemon.

"Axel Jones," he said to the teacher and her Pokemon.

The Pokeball materialized in front of him as like all the students before him. He picked it up as it felt like an wait period of infinity.

He turned his head to Professor Bell and the Alakazam; "Thank you very much Professor, and you too Alakazam."

He left the line after saying that, he felt that the Professor didn't really get thank you's from the students because of them being more excited receiving their Pokemon above anything else. He went around to the area he was sitting earlier, and activated the opening mechanism bringing Axel's new partner to him; a Axew.

"An Axew?" He said in shocked. "Uh, hi Axew. I'm Axel and starting today, I guess we're partners."

He paused for moment as the Axew turn their head at him.

"Oh god that was bad wasn't?" He said as he crunch himself together.

The Axew poke at him at the back like he was cheering him up.

"This wasn't what we both expecting were we, partner?"

Harper was roaming the halls when she heard her name called. She had to pull out her earbuds and divert her attention; what a bother. Looking around, she eventually shrugged and walked over. "Sure, m'am," Harper said. It was Nadia. Flashbacks from her first year flashed through her mind.

Good times indeed.

At the headmaster's mention of a helicopter, Daniel's face lit up red, like a tomato. That comment certainly didn't help his insecurity.

Fortunately for him, he was capable of getting in line relatively quickly, and meekly whispered his name once he was at the front of the line.

"D-Daniel Tre-Tremblay..." He whispered, however, from the look on the professor's face, he needed to speak a little louder.

"D-D-Dan, um... Daniel Trem..." His voice faded off this time. However, by some sort of miracle, Alakazam, at the least, must have understood him, seeing as the Poké Ball materialized right in front of him. Daniel meekly took it and ran away from everyone else, more embarrassed than he ever had been in his entire life.

Once he was away from everybody else, off in a corner of the auditorium, he looked down at the Poké Ball that he held. He felt an unusual mix of excitement and fear, especially once his mind registered that there was a possibility that he would get a Zubat. This caused him to hyperventilate a little bit, and it took him a few minutes to calm down. The entire time, he hoped that nobody was watching.

Finally, after multiple minutes of nothing happening, the Gligar inside the Poké Ball was getting impatient, wondering when she would be released. At the same time, Daniel held the Poké Ball in his hand, thinking far too much. Finally, he pressd the button on his new Poké Ball, and a Gligar appeared.

"Whoa..." Daniel gazed in awe. This was a Pokémon of his very own, and, if he had learned anything about this species, a deadly one too.

The Gligar, happy as could be, jumped up and landed on Daniel's shoulder. Daniel yelled in surprise, but didn't freak out and throw her off.

"An emergency. Not suspicious at all." Max muttered, followed by her partner Pokemon as she made her way over to the teachers and the other second year.

Tahlia waited impatiently for her name to be called as she stood in line, her mind couldn't stop racing about what type of Pokemon she would get and what that would mean for her. She began thinking on what the principal had said, about how he was sure that they all had dreams that they wanted to achieve. What would that mean for someone like her that wasn't clear on what she wanted to become? She knew either Performances or battles would be hard, but didn't know which to go for.

She finally heard her name being called, causing her to disperse her worries and immediately walk to the front. "Tahlia de Est," she announced proudly as she was given her pokeball. She grasped it tightly, putting all her earlier worries behind her as she resisted the urge to scream in victory and walked out of the line.

Her Pokemon was finally in her grasp, she had finally taken a step towards her dream. "All right, come out little one," Tahlia grinned as she let her pokeball fall, releasing a small Cyndaquil. She smiled from ear to ear before letting out a victorious laugh, having gotten one of her favorite Pokemon. "Yeah, now this is wht I'm talking about," the girl clapped to herself, eyes turning towards the small mouse Pokemon, who simply stared at her in confusion. "I think I'll call you...Blaze, yeah that's a good name," she nodded her head, mostly out of her own arrogant pride for her name picking skills. "It's nice to meet you buddy," she added, squatting down to pet the Pokemon.

Cyndaquil, or rather Blaze, didn't move, he just stared at her face in curiosity before laying his body down on the floor. "All right, let's go explore this place Blaze," she commanded and began to pace ahead of him, only to realize that he was still sleeping on the ground. "Hey," she poked him with her foot slightly. "Hey, wake up. Hey!" she yelled out, making the Cyndaquil jump and flare up the flames on its back to full intensity, which in turn caused Tahlia to gasp and fall to the floor in fear of her hair and clothes catching fire.

She panted heavily from the scare, with Blaze being in a similar state, as she turned to look at him, eyes opening wide. "That was awesome."

"So would you like a name, Axew? One unique to you?" Axel asked his new partner.

The Pokemon look at him and then nodded, understanding what Axel asked. He then paused in the moment to think in. entrenched in thought to think of a name.

"I got it!" Axel exclaimed. "How about Rensis as your name? If you don't like it I can think some more."

The Axew nodded fast and happy as the other students receiving their Pokemon. His Axew, his partner was now named Rensis.

"I guess you like it," Axel commented. "Nice to meet you, Rensis."

As he said he heard something like it gone ablaze. He stood up from where he was crunching down with Rensis, and notice a girl and her new Pokemon, a Cyndaquill who just happen to lit their trainer on fire.

"Rensis. I think we should check on her."

Axel picked up Rensis and placed him on his shoulder as he walk over to his classmate set ablaze by her Cyndaquill. What he was surprised about was that the student was more struck in aw then in pain or angry.

"Um, excuse me," he said to his classmate, Tahlia. "Are you okay? Did your Cyndaquill set you aflame? I don't think that's something you should be in aw about."

Nadia shrugged. "I'm an actress, what can I say?" She responded to Dustin.

Her eyes went to the two kids. "Alright, here's the deal. We're gonna take some boxes to the class area and then you two will get some extra credit," she said. "Now, I don't actually have to give you that credit, but I'm not gonna make you work entirely for free. There's laws against that, I'm sure," she hummed in thought, tapping her chin.

"Ah, anyways, ya. Get one of those boxes," she pointed behind herself with her thumb. There were a couple of boxes sitting behind the two. "They're kinda heavy, so, ya know... walk carefully."

Max nodded, figuring she'd go along with it. She didn't need the extra credit per se, but she wasn't a lazy person by virtue. Though maybe with a little difficulty, she lifted up one of the boxes and got moving, too focused to notice any of the first year students, or any shenanigans they were causing amongst eachother. Wasn't her problem if one of them accidentally lit the school (or themselves) on fire, right?

While Max was busy helping out Nadia and Harper, her partnered Grovyle's attention was caught by the spectacle of Tahlia and her Cyndaquil instead. So, perhaps out of morbid curiosity (and quite obvious boredom), the theropod-esque Pokemon cautiously approached the first year, showing obvious distrust towards the Fire Type only mere feet away. The cunning Grass Type tilted her head curiously at the new trainer, mischief flickering briefly in Corvus's amber irises.

"You know someone was talking to you right!?" Axel exclaimed in frustration after Tahlia got up and walked off. "You were just on fire a few minutes ago!"

"Um, Alexandria Baruri here." Alex spoke upon her turn with a small dash of nervousness in her voice which she managed to overcome at the sight of a Poké Ball materializing in front of her. Something about the thought of her new partner residing within that very capsule... it was overwhelming and yet calming at the same time. She gave the professor and Alakazam a meek little bow of the head before leaving the line.

With nothing more to be said yet, she took this red-white ball in both hands as though it were a fragile artifact and called out her Pokémon at last... "You're... a Gastly! Nice to meet you, I'm Alex and I'll be your trainer here. Let's work together in the academy from now on." she spoke to the incorporeal ball of gas which had just formed in front of her and returned his new trainer's greeting with a grin; mischievous but overall friendly.

Alex knew a little bit about this species, of course; it came with her hometown's Gym Leader being a Ghost type specialist. She also knew that Gastly tended to be pranksters. The new student's time here was certain to be... interesting... in more ways than one.

Axel scratch his head where his Mallen streak was. This woman was crazy.

"Probably should introduced myself," he said. "My name is Axel Jones, I'm from Nacrene City in Unova. And, this is my new partner, Rensis."

As he introduced Rensis the Axew on his shoulder, he look at him digging into his bag pulling out his sketchbook.

"Rensis, please don't go through my backpack! Put my sketchbook down please!"

He went to grab it from his partner's hands and accidentally knocking towards the ground. Making land in front of Tahlia, in between the pages containing the sketch of the auditorium and one of a dusty-redheaded woman several years older than Axel.

"Florina Ilia," Florina stated her name happily. The alakazam made the pokeball appear right away, and just as cheerfully as she had been, she skipped away. Once outside she tossed the pokeball, watching as an espurr appeared. "OMG. You are so cute!" she squealed happily. "An espurr. I'm so lucky. What should we name you though? And your male. I admittedly would have preferred female but male meowstic has it's charms as well. Hmmm. Oh I know! Since in the future you'll great next to a female meowstic, and I plan on getting one and naming her Hello Kitty, you'll be her boyfriend Dear Daniel. Daniel for short and convenience sake. This will be so great!" she told the espurr, grabbing him in a hug.

"Nagato Conversano," Nagato said, calmly picking up his new pokemon. "Thank you," he told them before walking away. Once outside he released the pokemon to see a rowlet. "Hello little one. I'm Nagato. We're supposed to be partners today but only if you want," he told the owl like pokemon, sitting on the ground with her.

The rowlet looked at him cautiously, a bit surprised by his behavior, and also weary of him being human. She figured she could just watch for now and decide how she felt later.

"It's funny. One of my favorite books is about this girl who works with mafias, and everyone calls her WolfOwl. They call her that because of her decidueye partner Whosworth, and her midnight form lycanroc partner Keaton. She got Whosworth first so he's her first partner, but it's reverse for me. Back home staying with and helping mama is a lycanroc I raised from a pup. He's midday form and named Waya. You're also female so that makes you a bit different. It's still funny that I'm kind of like a male WolfOwl. Though only if you choose to work with me."

The rowlet was curious. This human was treating her like she was human as well. She stepped a little closer, interested in this story. She wanted to hear the full story about this trio. She was also curious about his family and other partner.

"We would need a name if you choose. I could name you after WolfOwl's real name. It would actually be fitting, but not in the way I think you should be named. How about Gylfie? She's a character from a book series about owl pokemon. It's a really great book series. She's small, but smart. She's subglaucious. Haha not that that's a real word. It's a word she makes up in the book. But I think you would make a great Gylfie."

Gylfie. She liked that name. And she liked how this human was talking, and that he was giving her a choice. And it was a choice she was going to accept. So she hopped over and into his lap, rubbing against him to show she accepted.

"I guess that's a yes. I look forward to a wonderful partnership Gylfie," he told her petting her. "Oh and I'll read you those books. I'm sure you want to know them now that I've talked about them."

Gylfie gave a happy cry of agreement at this, freezing though as she felt something staring at her. Looking up at Nagato she noticed him seemingly feeling the same way. There from not to far, Daniel, Florina's espurr was watching them, it's face emotionless, blank, non blinking.

"That thing is like the Sun and Moon series Protagonist. How about we go away?" Gylfie nodded in a agreement. Nagato rose from the ground, carrying Gylfie, trying to ignore the stare of the psychic pokemon. He walked over to Alex, giving a friendly smile. "Gastly is a cool pokemon," he said to her, noticing someone getting burned in the background, but not really caring about someone who already screwed up interacting with their partner.

Florina on the other hand decided to go check on the burning girl as well, walking up to them curiously, Daniel staring and staring at them all.

Finally, it was Daniel's turn at the front of the line.
"Daniel Clemmens." He said as he held out his hands. The pokeball, like all the rest, materialised in front of him and dropped into his hands. "Man, that so cool." He left the room and started wandering a little, trying to find a good place to meet his new partner. "...Not outside." He said to himself as he glanced at a window. He knew he'd need to get used to the cold eventually, but the longer he could put it off, the better. He soon found a nicely non-specific hallway and opened the ball, wanting to see his new partner.
"Squirtle?" The tiny turtle said as it looked at him.
"Hey there, my name's Daniel. Boy did you luck out huh? Getting paired up with me." The Squirtle's only response was ducking into its shell. "Aww, hey, c'mon, get outta there." He said, crouching down to peek into the holes of the shell, but the turtle just drew itself in deeper. "Well fine. If you don't wanna say hi then I guess we're just gonna sit here until you come out." He said as he sat down and leaned against the wall, arms crossed.

Clarisse stood in line like the other students, a frown struggling to stay on their face. They were excited as the other students, truthfully, but they couldn't show it. They had plans, and to finish those plans they had to remain calm and collected.
"Clarisse Roux."
They responded when asked for their name, eyes focused intently on where they had seen the Pokeballs appear. Their eyes widened slightly when one appeared for them, dispelling the slight doubt they still had over whether or not they were really finally going to get their first Pokemon.

Clutching it to their chest, Clarisse managed a short bow of their head to the Professor and her Alakazam, too emotional to actually speak. They wandered off to an empty corner of the room, shielded from other eyes. They didn't want other people to see them with their guard down - because even they, with their insistence on calm and focused minds, knew that they must keep nothing from their newly found partner if they were to develop a strong bond. And that was what Clarisse wanted most of all. Taking a trembling breath, they gently tapped the Pokeballs and waited to see what would materialize out of the red light.
"Horsea!"
Came the soft cry, and Clarisse smiled softly, tears springing to their eyes.
"Welcome, little one. I hope we will have a long future together, if you are willing. How lucky I am."

"Oh," Tahlia looked down at Axel's notebook as it fell in front of her. She quickly leaned down to grab it and stared at it a bit more. "You draw really well, Axel," she replied with an honest smile as she handed the art book back to him. "You want to be an artist?" she asked, noticing a girl walking towards them, with Blaze staring at her and her Rowlet before letting out a yawn.

"It's just a hobby actually," he said has he reclaimed his sketchbook. "I spent a lot of time in Nacrene Forest, so I often drew to pass time. Sketching scenery, Pokemon and other things."

He flipped his book closed as he took a deep breath; "In reality , I wish to become a Pokemon Ranger once I've completed my eduction here."
