Some ideas I was tossing around

I was kind of hoping to make a really good story that follows RBYG. The thing is, it's going to be kind of "adaptations" with original writing mixed in of Electric Tale of Pikachu, Adventures, animé, and the game, all tied together.

- The protag should be named either Red or Ash...or both?
- Brock and Misty will be accompanying Ash/Red for part of the trip.
- Bulbasaur is Ash/Red's first Pokémon
- The Gym leaders will be divided roughly into the TCG split. Brock, Misty, and Erika are good, Lt. Surge is a bit of a jerk but turns out to be on Ash/Red's side. Blaine and Sabrina don't come around until much, much later. Koga and Giovanni don't, at least in that part of the story.
- Green will be a major character.
- Ash/Red DOES fight the Gym Leaders in order.

Perhaps you could try using Red as the name and Ash as part of the surname ("Ashton" ), or vice versa ("Redfield" FTW! :-D), but then you'd need to do the same for Green (who do you view as Green? The boy who became Gary or the girl others know as Leaf?)

Green as she appeared in Adventures. The "FRLG" chapter doesn't happen until later!

@Kyuujux: Sort of. I do intend to write some new parts. For example, Red DOESN'T have Poliwhirl as his first Pokémon, Pikachu isn't chewing on the wires, Ash doesn't oversleep, and Oak doesn't follow Red into the grass before dragging him back to the lab.

What WILL happen is Red/Ash will get a Caterpie in Viridian Forest, destroy Misty's bike, and yes, "Smell ya later" will be used. There will also be some humor as characters lampshade their cross-canon counterparts.

Team Rocket will be more competent but not more evil (think BW competence with 1st season villainy).

There are animals and Pokémon co-existing in this world.

Some of the more irritating elements of the animé will be cut out. Gary/Blue won't have 10 badges, Ash/Red won't receive as many "pity" badges he got in the game, and Ash/Red's father will be mentioned again.

Yellow (Adventures) will be featured.

There will be a chapter featuring Orre.

It sounds as if you're only doing this to rant on about how the writers did something wrong. And the changes you offered don't really do much; you're just going to mash them up and write the story everyone has read/watched/played with minor tweaks.
