i imagine most of us are familiar with these. usually at some point in a console's life, the console manufacturer (whether it be Sony, Nintendo, or Microsoft) releases special or limited edition versions of their consoles in an effort to boost sales. it can be said that there's some collectible value in this, as seen in the photo with the PS4's 500 million edition, celebrating how many PS4 consoles have been sold.

do you own a limited edition console? do you go out of your way for them once they're announced, or are you perfectly fine owning more standard non-limited versions that already exist?

I'd probably go out of my way to buy a special edition console if I usually didn't already own one by the time they release one I'm interested in.
Even if it's a bit pricier because of the branding, just because it looks cooler than standard is enough.

i used to own the gamestop white ps4 pro, i liked it even though if i could, i would've bought the 500 edition one bc i think it looks slightly cooler due to the transparency. was happy with my white one though, it was nice to have. n.n

also tried to get the animal crossing edition of the switch but by the time i got to target not long after they opened, they were all out. :c

i think the only "special edition" console i own now is the monster hunter 3DS one (silver). i like it. :>

I have a few special edition consoles, most of these I picked up second hand except for the first Pokemon Gameboy Color and the Black/White DSi's which I've had since new.
I'll buy them to collect if I have the chance but I don't really go too much out of my way to get them.

This was my first Gameboy and came bundles with Pokemon Gold back in the day, unlike most of the other consoles here I did use this machine, it still works great today.

I've got some more non-pokemon special edition GBA SP's but think they're in a box somewhere.
