Spheal to be featured in January 2022 Pokémon GO Community Day

Niantic has announced that the Clap Pokémon Spheal will be the featured Pokémon for Pokémon GO's January 2022 Community Day, which will be taking place on January 16th, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. Spheal's Shiny variant will also be able to be encountered.

When players evolve Sealeo to a Walrein during the event or up to two hours afterward, it will know the Charged Attack Icicle Spear and Fast Attack Powder Snow. Icicle Spear is making its Pokémon GO debut, and will deal 60 damage regardless of in Trainer Battles, Gyms, or raids.

The following event bonuses will also be active throughout the event:
  • 3× Catch XP
  • Incense activated during the event will last for three hours
  • Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise
A bundle containing 30 Ultra Balls will be available in the shop at no cost. A special one-time-purchase Community Day Box will also be available for 1,280 PokéCoins, featuring 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, five Lucky Eggs and an Elite Fast TM.

For US$1.00 (or the equivalent pricing tier in local currency), players will be able to access the Spheal Community Day–exclusive Special Research story, The Spheal Deal.
