SPOILERS: Masters Eight Discussion/Speculation Thread

Seeing as how Rose's interruption was spearheaded by Eternatus, who has been caught and sealed, I doubt he'd do it now or in the future; the writers probably don't want the headache either.

I like that all of the Masters 8 are people we've interacted with well enough over the course of the anime. To include Alder over Iris as the Unova Champion representative wouldn't satisfy that "requirement," as we've barely interacted with him; the only two things that spring to mind for me regarding Alder was when his Boufflant one-shotted Trip's overpowered Serperior and his awkward flirting attempt (?) with Cynthia (which I think were in the same episode, if not arc).

Okay, I would love it if you stopped claiming that I "think you're not right for thinking Iris shouldn't be here" because that's NOT what I said nor does it actually align with my actual personal thoughts. Quite ironic, considering you're trying to get me to understand your opinion (by linking me to a locked thread that is not only over a decade old, but that you don't even seem to have ever replied to, so idk why you thought that'd give me any perspective on your thoughts).

For the record, I don't like Iris's anime incarnation that much either: she never really earned any of her accomplishments and her skills as a Dragon Specialist were inconsistent at best despite how much BW's narrative tried to hype them as the greatest thing ever. However, the reason I don't mind her being in the Masters 8 too much is simply because, like I've said a million times already, it just makes sense from a meta perspective to have all the Champions being in the Masters 8, so one of the two Unova Champions was gonna be included no matter what. Would it have been better if it was Alder instead? If I'm being completely honest, not in my opinion, because I actually don't like the anime version of Alder either. So yeah, basically the Unova representative was always gonna be a lose/lose for me regardless of which pick they ultimately went with (though ironically I actually do like the game versions of Alder and Iris quite a bit, to the point that the latter is actually my favorite Champion in the games), so my lack of care over Iris making it to the Masters 8 is simply resignation, as it would've been if Alder had been in her place.

And yeah, Alder's son is a harder fight than the Champion in the games. But then by that logic none of the Masters 8 should've been Champions and instead they should have all been replaced with postgame Battle Facility trainers. Not just Iris. But that was clearly never going to happen because Battle Facility trainers are simply not as iconic as the Champions are, so of course the latter are the ones who will be used: it's literally the same reason we have a constant influx of Lucarios, Charizards, and Eevees in every saga over stuff like, say, Purugly, Venomoth, or Lickitung: popularity and marketability.

Firstly, maybe that one of us misunderstood the other opinion so sorry if I was wrong and i really accept your forgiveness if you are the one who wrong.

Soshite, for the first thing, as you said that I was giving you an old thread about IRIS which completed 11 years, and you are asking me about the reasons of it and remind me that I wasn't wrote any single post there and the answers are is simple for sure and that's because I wasn't here in this thread in that time hahaha.

A. So the first reason of why i put it here is to ensure of that i don't want to repeat myself again and again. Just this thread will explain my opinion because i saw rhe season before finding this thread for long time and made my opinion, and then glad that i found this thread which really explained all my opinion so i don't want to repwat myself again and again. Just this thread is very good for illustating my mind opinion about Iris.

Secondly and finally, about my never answered in this thread then reason as i said the answer is really very simple: the anime is this: The thread was born before my became 17th years old by two days because my birthday anniversary was in 19th May 1994 qnd that thread was in 17th May so this thread is became before my birthday reached anniversary number seventeenth. And my started my account after the the birthday if this that thread by 4 years exactly which means before my birthday anniversary number 21 so my account birthday was before me became 21 years old also by two days so its very lucky break for me, my account and the birthday of that thread hahaha .

So for sure, then I can't answer in that thread definitely but still surely my opinion about Iris as what every accounters wrote in that thread even if I hated for little kid with her unfunny stupid things for Ash and other for the first and when I saw her first related episode then I became hate her more and more with surely think that she the really kid one with all of Cameron and Trip.

Anyways, let's back to what you wrote, and then write If the champion deserve to be her then for sure Alder must be here or at least the Elite four Elligent Catlen for love psychic pokemon and who made a very good match against Cynthia in the promotion match before the junior tournament Cup.

Alder son doesn't have to be in the entire anime if you ask me but I wrote about him to explain that it is doesn't mean that you have to be a Champion so you can be in this tournament. Alder's son is such as the girl who love performances which I mean Ms.Lisia. thy don't have to appear and if they do then it mostly for one episode or two episodes.

I forget to motion that I really want to see Bianca from BW also

Spoon has released a better screenshot of the Leon/Diantha poster

So those posters weren't really accurate after all either

Looks like it was fake.

Hopefully this means Ash V Alain is still possible

Still hoping. It would feel absolutely pointless to include Alain if Ash was never going to face him, and it would feel absolutely insulting if someone else were the one to finally defeat him. They could have easily included someone like Flint. We should get episode titles soon.

Based on what TheMindOf'Thomas posted, I'm not gonna trust this person right now.
GryphonCool is gonna give us information from Animage tomorrow anyway, the place he gets the magazine from sells it a day early

Honestly I didn’t really want Alain to be there anyways so I’m totally fine having him get knocked out early, though I would have preferred him losing to Steven since they have history and we don’t really need another Charizard vs. Charizard match when Alain already had one with Trevor.

Ash having to beat actual champions is more satisfying than having a rematch just for the sake of giving Ash the win over Alain to somehow “right” the Kalos League.

If it were up to me, these would be the match-ups: 2D544227-C384-4631-8AF6-9B6B602EE2F2.jpeg

Well, it wouldn't be satisfying to watch Alain lose to Steven again. Same for Iris vs Cynthia.

Here's my prediction, which seems very likely now:

Hmm, the outcome of the last one is anyone's guess. Both have their drawbacks...

Iris vs. Cynthia being a closer match than last time would still be satisfying, imo. Axew managing to land that solid hit on Garchomp so long ago coming around to a Haxorus vs. Garchomp match-up would be cool. Having Iris go toe-to-toe with Cynthia shows her strength and development even if she doesn’t win and shows how deserving she is to be the reigning champion of Unova.

I honestly don’t see a future in which Ash flat out loses to Leon after all this build up and the preemptive victory lap of returning old characters. I feel like they either tie, or Ash wins. The fact that all the way back in JN006 they went out of their way to have Ash specifically say that becoming the strongest trainer in the world won’t make him a Pokémon Master seems like foreshadowing for his win and whatever they choose to have Ash do afterwards.

True, but they could still do that with Steven even if they don't have a history.

As long as OLM are actually prepared to treat him as the world's strongest trainer, sure. It has to mean something, even if it doesn't quite feel earned to a lot of us (the lack of reserves stings, and he only battled one Elite Four member).

for the plot of the series it makes sense although the problem is not having a good script from the beginning!
