Bulbapedia Suggestions, ideas, and problems

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

Seems kind of like common knowledge which ball would be best... you're not going to use a Dive Ball on a Zangoose or something.

Doesn't seem necessary.

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

I think that there should be a size comparison for the Pokemon. You know, for those who aren't good at picturing measurements.

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

It's come to my attention that several, if not many or all, of the Pokémon pages misuse the word "Physiology" in the section of the same name.

Physiology is the science of biologic functions. For example, one would study in a medical physiology course how the kidney works, how the immune system works, etc. It is the science which explores how life systems operate.

However, the section titled "Physiology" in the pages I have seen (e.g. Houndoom, Arceus) does not describe anything physiologic at all. Instead, it is almost entirely taxonomic, describing markings, colorings, body shapes, and the presence of special features such as horns, wings, or hooves. You get the picture. It's not physiologic in the slightest.

Please consider renaming these sections in order to improve the professionalism of Bulbapedia as a whole. As it stands, this mistake makes Bulbapedia look unprofessional to those who know what the term "physiology" truly means.

Consider such terms as: taxonomy, phenotype, structural characteristics, physical characteristics
Avoid such terms as: anatomy (which implies structural rather than superficial makeup of the organism), biology (much too broad)

For more reading:

For reference, animal pages from Wikipedia proper:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elephant ("Physical characteristics")
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger ("Physical characteristics, taxonomy and evolution")
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shark ("Physical characteristics"; see also its section titled "Physiology" to see what such a section must needs entail to warrant such a title as this)

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

i think the round up tables in type effectiveness portion messes up when it comes to steel types that as you now, have lots of resistances,,,,

take look at this one:
http://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Magnezone_(Pok%C3%A9mon)

maybe u should add space or something,,,

plus, i suggest have a page for Pokemon that is obtainable at a pokemon main version, you know,,

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

you mean like the thing in the Pokedex? all Pokemon pages have their height listed.
Yeah I know, that's why I wondering if pictures could also be used to show height.

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

Possible, but it'd be difficult, considering things.

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

Requesting that the addon Global Usage be taken into use in Bulbagarden Archives. Would make working there a lot easier, since it'd save the need of always opening a separate Bulbapedia and Bulbanews tab to see if the file is use in another wiki.

Sounds useful. We'll see what we can do as soon as possible, though there might be some oddities with our five-server setup.

Not really.

Yes really.

There's no good way to do the scalar properly, especially when all the sprites are the same size. [bp=User:TTEchidna/Height]See?[/bp]

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

New guy here.

I think something should be done on Scyther's Pokemon page in bulbapedia and his move "False Swipe". You see, it's listed as a move he learns at 13, and it's not listed as being learnable by TM/HM or by breeding. But you see, just today, I hatched a Scyther that came with False Swipe at level 1. I breeded my caught Scyther with a Ditto to get this one.

I'll breed them together again to see if it happens again.

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

It is listed as a TM... TM54.

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

What you're looking for appears in the Egg moves article.

If both parents know one or more moves that their offspring could learn by leveling up, the offspring will have that move.

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

Also TMs/HMs carry down.

Couldn't you just use the scaling in the Pokedex from the games?

Re: Official Bulbapedia suggestion/idea/problem thread

That'd involve at least 500 uploads, definitely more.
