The sun is shining to the north, while the nights are freezing to the south, which can mean only one thing – it’s time for the Summer Awards!
The awards are a celebration of our work over the last six months, and this season will be bigger than ever. As previously stated, there will be no voting round this time, which means that any story or character nominated over the next week will go straight through to the judging round and have a chance at winning an award.
Any user, new or old, can take part in the awards, and you are allowed to nominate your own work as well as those of your friends. This is a great way to celebrate your favourite stories and characters on the site and a good opportunity to get detailed feedback from other readers and writers – plus you might win a banner and end up in the Hall of Fame for all eternity!
Asides from the removal of the voting round, a few other things have changed
- Best Dark is now called Best Drama. All the stories that would have gone in Best Dark still go here, while any dramatic-focused story with a non-Journey or Expansion focus should join them. A full explanation of the revised category can be found in the Hall of Fame.
- You will need to nominate users for the three user voted (UV) categories in this round as opposed to in the now non-existent voting round. Nominating users in at least one of these three categories is now a requirement for entering the awards.
- There may be more winners than usual this time – we have some sneaky surprises in store, but you will need to wait and see exactly what these bonus prizes are. Submit your work and find out
You have a week exactly (or until 8PM NZT June19th 20th) to PM me with your nominations.

Please feel free to ask for any further clarifications if my rambling makes no sense. I encourage everyone to double check the content of their story before submitting and see if it can fit outside of the traditional Journey and Alternate so we have a more even spread of work.

- A link to each story must be provided in order to check the eligibility of your nominations. Your entry will be void and will go ignored if you do not submit a link.

- Fics that have been published or updated since December 19th are eligible for these Awards. Any character you nominate must have appeared in a chapter that has been posted during this period. You can update your work up until the end of the nomination period for it to be counted during judging. We ask that you do not edit your past work on this site during the judging period, and you may face consequences if you are found to have done so.
- Any one story or character cannot be nominated in more than one category. Generally, it is up to the author which category a story or character belongs in, but the moderators can change this if the story/character obviously does not belong there.
- If a story or character has previously won in one category, it cannot be submitted into any other category without a providing a reasonable explanation as to why the change should be allowed. The moderators will decide if the change is warranted. We will allow leeway this awards season for Best Alternate stories that better fit Best Drama.
- As previously stated, if you have won three or more Hall of Fame badges or won an award last time, you must sign up as a judge in order for your work to clarify.
- Do not ask people to nominate your work, as there is no point since you can just do it yourself. You cannot nominate yourself in the user voted categories.
