Sun and Moon Anime- 138 episodes?

This? View attachment 103101. Doesn't look like a fan theory to me.

I don't think that changes the fact that it's a fan theory. It's a small detail in an episode, but fans are reading too much into it and assuming that SM will last specifically for 138 episodes. I didn't mind it at first, but it has kind of become more annoying over time since it still involves a lot of assumptions more than anything else.

It's still a theory, that number could mean absolutely zilch. Maybe it refers to the 138 shots that made up that particular episode (as Dogasu pointed out), maybe that number was completely random or maybe that was the number they had for in mind for the total number of episodes at the time but have since changed their mind. It's way too vague and speculative to be anything concrete.

Like I said, it's no big deal. Especially compared to other flaws of this series.

It still doesn't really seem like a flaw or anything like that. Fans getting hyped up about a specific theory and then the show not delivering on it isn't necessarily a flaw of the series itself, especially when said theory is based entirely on a vague number that could mean just about anything.

If the question is whether the series will be extended via normal episodes or specials, then it isn't an important question.

How would the writers have been aware of how many episodes SM will have that much in advance? I doubt even Game Freak knew back then when SS is coming.

TBH the idea that this show could have had an exact episode count halfway into its first year was super farfetched to begin with.
No, but hey, "it's a flaw".

People just don't know how to make weak excuses to hate on SM.

Okay, everyone, time to cut down on the sass and jabs at other people's opinions!

It doesn't matter if you like or dislike SM, everyone should respect what other people think about the saga, without resorting to snarky remarks or belittling others for having different feelings and thoughts about the series.

Feel free to express what you think about SM and if you believe or not that the series will end at 138 episodes, but be more mindful and respectful of other people's opinions and feelings.

Having said so, carry on with the 138 theory.

The only possible scenario is that Game Freak must have planned the release of SwSh at the latest two years before now and thus gave the anime crew an estimation of how long their show may last. The magical number 138 is an estimation which may be nailed and even if it won't, it is not going to be far off. How many episodes can SM have at the most at this rate? 143?

143, if there is no more breaks other than the movie one, the new anime starts after the games' release and if we get two post-series specials as usual.

SM129 - July 7, 2019 (Pokemon League)
Mewtwo movie - July 12, 2019
Movie break - July 14, 2019
SM130 - July 21, 2019
SM131 - July 28, 2019
SM132 - August 4, 2019
SM133 - August 11, 2019
SM134 - August 18, 2019
SM135 - August 25, 2019
SM136 - September 1, 2019
SM137 - September 8, 2019
SM138 - September 22, 2019
SM139 - September 29, 2019
SM140 - October 6, 2019
SM141 - October 13, 2019
SM142 - October 20, 2019
SM143 - October 27, 2019
SM Special I - November 3, 2019
SM Special II - November 10, 2019
SwSh Games - November 15, 2019
SwSh001 & SwSh002 - November 17, 2019

So...there is no movie break at all, which is a first. And it looks like 138 episodes thing is not possible anymore, considering the black friday release, the longer than usual league and all the plot stuff we need to resolve before the end. Now I wonder whether there's gonna be post-series specials after all this stuff.

SM134 - August 11, 2019
SM135 - August 18, 2019
SM136 - August 25, 2019
SM137 - September 1, 2019
SM138 - September 8, 2019
SM139 - September 15, 2019
SM140 - September 22, 2019
SM141 - September 29, 2019
SM142 - October 6, 2019
SM143 - October 13, 2019
SM144 - October 20, 2019
SM145 - October 27, 2019
SM Special I - November 3, 2019
SM Special II - November 10, 2019
SwSh Games - November 15, 2019
SwSh001 & SwSh002 - November 17, 2019

So if we don't get a single special or break, 148 is the most we can get, seems like a good number to end on and still be able to wrap mostly everything up

Oh Mallow, go and re-do your clapboard.

Heck, they've already changed it in repeats and I think streaming.

Though really, it was SO silly to think background noise meant how many episodes there'd be.

Shoot, the creative team's long term plans get messed up part of the time anyway.:p Like with the Seizure Incident, the GS Herring, Team Rocket vs Team Plasma, and, of course, the times a saga changed course and the plot bent over backwards for promotional purposes.
There's NO way they could've planned out 3 years ahead of time...

so, there's no possible for the 138 episode anymore, so:

SM136 - 25 August 2019
SM137 - 1 September 2019
SM138 - 8 September 2019
SM139 - 15 September 2019
SM140 - 22 September 2019
SM141 - 29 September 2019
SM142 - 6 October 2019
SM143 - 13 October 2019
SM144 - 20 October 2019
SS039 - 27 October 2019
SS040 - 3 November 2019
SwSh games release - 15 November 2019
SwSh001 and SwSh002 - 17 November 2019

If there's amount of breaks like XY Series, then:

SM142 - 20 October 2019

They've kept on throwing episodes every week this series so I don't think we'll get a break, there might be a 3 Week Break in September after the League ends but I'm sure we'll at least get 144 Regular Episodes.
