Sun and Moon Anime- 138 episodes?

I feel like the Alola League is going to be the worst league because if they can't keep focus on UB arc without padding then what chance does the league have?

I haven't seen much of its build-up. I only remember Kukui mentioning it once in an episode.

We learned about it at about the same point we learned about in-game.

Kukui first mentioned it in the Kanto two-parter, then again in the Ilima episode, then he finally revealed it to Ash and co. at the beginning of the Ula'ula arc.

There are a lot of UBs, plus doing all of the episodes back to back was a huge problem with the Aether arc.

Well for me after the Kalos League if the league has good battles then i'm fine. But I don't think that the Alola League can give even that.
What makes you say that? There could be late rival development, Kiawe could be a really good rival etc. In my opinion, I think I don't have enough information to judge the League yet, only to speculate.

Unpopular opinion: He's gonna win the Alola League. It's perfect opportunity to give him a league victory here, considering how newly established it's supposed to be.

I would say that because he is newly established it would give him more of a reason not to win the League and to learn from the experience like he was meant to in the Indigo League. Perhaps he could win if there are no more rivals added to the anime between now and the League but I agree with SinnohEevee that he will probably lose this league too. I think it is hard to predict whether Ash will win any League because the writers are so unpredictable e.g. writing in Tobias at the last secon as up until that point he could've won the Sinnoh league and probably would've done.

OK maybe there will be some ok battles but with how SM going I have no hope that it will be that great.

We knew Ash would lose the Kalos League, but that didn't stop people from getting hyped for it.

The reason people were hyped for the Kalos League was because the results weren't as obvious as they had been. They didn't reveal the outcome during episode previews and there wasn't an obvious League only rival that he would lose to. Given that they were hyping up Tobias so much, Ash already lost to him twice and Greninja had mastered its new form, a lot of people took that as a sign of Ash winning the Kalos League. It's also why people were more upset that he lost again. I was so sure that Team Flare would interrupt the battle, but a lot of people had hope that he would win. Granted, the immediate backlash did cool down after a couple of weeks, but I don't think that people are going to get as excited for the Alola League for a few reasons.

The Alola League is newly established, but I don't know if that makes his chances any greater. He doesn't even have a full team yet and while I think most of his battles have been pretty good, they aren't good enough to make me think he could win the Alola League.

While I wasn't following or watching the anime when that happened (I saw people on a forum saying he reached the final, and when they said he lost the SatyrdSa after, I wasn't syrpsurpr), I don't see any reason to get excited or hyped for the League. In addition to that, SM has a great lack of battles.

With the way the anime is shaping up and Ash's team, I feel like its quite likely he will use some of his old mons. I don't really see Ash hitting a team of six (usable mons, since Poipole has YET to battle and theres already minimal chances for his Pokemon to legitimately train)

But there is, usually, weeks with no new episodes. For example, between XY096 and XY138 there is six weeks without new episodes. If we add six weeks to the list above:

SM138 - October 13, 2019

It would make sense. They did say they wanted Gen 8 out by the end of next year and this is roughly the length of most of the Pokemon anime.

You can't predict the episode count. You only know that it will end and be replaced with another anime when Gen 8 comes out late next year.

If Gen 8 were to get delayed to late 2020, then Sun & Moon would be extended to last that long.
