Sun and Moon are the first games in the 7th Generation. They were announced in a Pokemon Direct on the 20th Anniversary of Pokemon.
Format: Nintendo 3DS, New 3DS and 2DS
Release date: 18th November (everywhere but Europe), 23rd November (Europe)

- 10th February: Magearna leaked in Corocoro
- 15th February: Magearna officially revealed
- 25th February: Trademarked logos for Sun and Moon found
- 26th February: Sun and Moon officially announced in the Pokemon Direct
- 10th May: First trailer is released and reveals first details about the games: starters, legendaries, region, protagnists etc.
- 2nd June: Details on legendaries, region, characters and more is released.
- 4th June: Anime reference sheets of the final stage starters are leaked online (this point added in after they were revealed on October 27th)
- 11th June: Komala, Rockruff and more information on Magearna revealed in Corocoro.
- 11th June: Masuda shows the first in-game footage of the Zygarde forms at the Taiwan National Championships.
- 14th June: A variety of new Pokemon and gameplay details are revealed on the Nintendo Treehouse at E3.
- 30th June: A bunch of new Pokemon leak and then are later officially revealed in a new trailer.
- 1st July: English version of 30th June information released.
- 3rd July: First footage of Rockruff and Komala shown at Hong Kong Nationals.
- 7th July: Salandit revealed by Masuda at Japan Expo
- 12th July: Mimikyu and Bewear leaked in Corocoro
- 13th July: A new Japanese trailer shows various new/returning features like riding Pokemon, Pokemon Amie and some new move mechanic.
- 19th July: Another news batch reveals Wimpod, Mudsdale, Comfey and Bounsweet.
- 1st August: News release reveals, Alolan forms, Z-moves, Island Trials and other bits.
- 9th August: Corocoro leaks and reveals Alolan Marowak and Meowth, along with Stuffull, Sandygast, Palossand and Wishiwashi.
- 10th August: A missed page in Corocoro reveals Pyukumuku.
- 10th August: Images leak from the English trailer due to be released on the 12th.
- 11th August: Japanese and English trailer for the 12th's news is officially released early (probably due to the leaks)
- 18th August: Turtonator is revealed at Gamescom.
- 19th August: Crabrawler revealed at VGC World Championships and shortly after another trailer revealing the English details for Sandygast, Palossand and Stufful is released.
- 1st September: Alolan Rattata, special Z-Moves for Snorlax and Alolan Raichu and a Munchlax event is revealed.
- 6th September: News update reveals Ultra Beasts, the Aether Foundation, version differences between day and night, Alolan Raticate and Jangmo-o.
- 7th September: Another trailer is released, this time just a general overview of everything so far. Official sites also reveal Samson Oak.
- 12th September: Rockruff evolution Lugarugan and UB-02 Expansion and UB-02 Beauty are revealed in Corocoro.
- 14th September: Trailer release and site update officially reveal UB-02 Expansion and UB-02 Beauty.
- 20th September: Passimian and Oranguru revealed, more details on Lycanroc, Z-Moves for Pikachu and Eevee, and also more information on extensive customisation features.
- 28th September: The new move Dragon Hammer is revealed.
- 4th October: Starter evolutions Dartrix, Torracat and Brionne revealed, along with Poke Pelago, Festival Plaza and an announcment of the SM demo.
- 12th October: Alolan Grimer revealed in Corocoro leaks.
- 13th October: Jangmo-o's evolutions and Silvally revealed in Corocoro.
- 14th October: Silvally and more are revealed in official trailer.
- 17th October: An unknown Pokemon is leaked on a TCG box on Amazon Japan.
