Sun and Moon Contest #13: Hairstyles

It's been a tradition here on Bulbagarden to hold a series of contests for each new generation of Pokémon. These contests are meant to be a fun way for us to give our predictions and see how closely we can get to the final product. There won't be physical prizes for this particular series, but we'll be sure to put the winner(s) of each contest in an announcement thread upon the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon. We'll have future contests with real prizes at a later date.​

This week’s question is:

How many new hairstyles?​

In generation 6, there was a total of 6 hairstyles for the female character and 4 for the male character. Given how much customization is being improved for the upcoming games we might get a lot more than these numbers. So post your guess on how many hairstyles we’ll get In Sun/Moon. Only one guess for each character!

And remember the rules:

• Please only post ONE prediction for each question. If you make more predictions, only the first one will count.
• You can guess the same as someone else if you had the same/similar idea.

Female: 12 (Females can usually do more with their hair)

I'm expecting equal hairstyles for both, but for girls to have fringe/front options, so I'd say:

Males: 11
Females: 33 (11 with sideswept, bang and 'fringe less' options for each)

I'm guessing that since we've seen some slightly (read: tiny bit) longer styles for males that could very well be considered bobs I'd normally agree with the equal number. But knowing gamefreak and their aversion to making anything but certain hats and pins unisex...the number will probably be:

Female: 12
Male: 8

Give or take the bangs/fringe options I kinda still see happening for both. Doubling it seems slightly more in the realm of possibly then flat out having the same hairstyles across the board.

40 total, with bangs/no bangs variations being separate hairstyles.

In a perfect world Gamefreak wouldn't gender hairstyles, but they probably still will, so I'd break it down like this: 30 female hairstyles (15/15 bangs/no bangs of the same shape) and 10 male hairstyles.

Females: 20 (10 without bangs and the 10 same haircuts with bangs)

Given how there was some backlash (I think?) over the lack of options for men, I'm predicting Game Freak took notice and closed the gap.

I know it's a repeat answer, but I feel it's within Game Freak's range, maybe.
