Sun and Moon Contest #2 - The Evil Team

It's been a tradition here on Bulbagarden to hold a series of contests for each new generation of Pokémon. These contests are meant to be a fun way for us to give our predictions and see how closely we can get to the final product. Unfortunately we don't have the means to offer physical prizes as we have done in the past, but we'll be sure to put the winner of each contest in an announcement thread upon the release of Pokémon Sun and Moon.

This week’s question is:

CONTEST #2: What will be the name and the goal of the evil team?

Every main Pokémon game so far has had an evil team doing various evil deeds which had to be stopped by the player. So far no information has been released about the evil team present in Sun and Moon.

The team's name has been released: Team Skull, guessed correctly by Pokesan! We know nothing about their goal yet though, so you can still make a prediction about that.

Goal: Capturing Solgaleo/Lunala to somehow draw out all color from Alola and suspend it in permanent gray and darkness.

Team Shade/Shadow
Since both Sun and Moon are source of light of day and night that according to the game directors are also source of life, this evil team wants to engulf the world in shadow, to make people realize the importance of protecting the nature or life in the world, akin to how climate change affects our world and no one seems to care much about it.. and they'll have some hidden agenda, somewhat like Team Plasma.

Team Lux- Determined to use the power of infinity energy and combine it with the power of the sun/moon in order to seize control of the world.

Remember, the moon is the origin of several pokemon as well such as grimer.

Team Astral

Their goal is align the seven planets (Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn) of alchemy in order to rebirth the Earth. It's the same goal as project Azoth.

 

[Lofty]

Team Blight

Their goal is to throw Alola into chaos quietly, growing in power and influence until they eventually eclipse the power of even the four guardians, Solgaleo, and Lunala, and while everyone panics, Blight offers a "guiding" hand to get itself in control of the region.

Team Eclipse:
The name is both literal and a metaphor. They are a either an ancient tribe who once held or tried to gain power in the ancient times of Alola, or a modern cult. In either case, they are a tribe/cult to the third possible eclipse legendary; whether it be Marshadow or otherwise.

Goal:
To revive the eclipse legend or Marshadow, and have it become the new dark guardian over Alola. In this way, their power and influence as a whole would "eclipse" that of the other island guardians, assuming there is a sort of balance of (guardians) nature in the region. Tipping the balance of power in their favor to their own cult god would diminish the island guardians power, perhaps requiring Solgaleo/Lunaala to restore the balance. To have them not be completely evil, perhaps one motivation for doing this would be because while the island guardians provide stability and harmony, they also possibly limit the growth of innovation and progress in Alola. Perhaps "paradise" has a price in this case, and Team Eclipse are no longer willing to remain stagnant in order to maintain it. Perhaps the island guardians are fickle in their demands of "sacrifice," and this has been a slow build up of resentment, and a belief that a better "paradise" awaits them.

Team Eclipse. Wants to capture/control the powers of the legendary Pokemon and create a Lunar/Solar Eclipse for some kind of energy project to obtain money/power

Goal: I don't know, they're always weird. Preserve Alola's natural habitat and protect the indigenous Pokémon is my guess.

Team Rocket, want to steal resources under the claim that they're working on a space program.

Team Eclipse

Goal: To use the power of Solgaleo/Lunaala to suspend the world in permanent day/night. Alternatively could be split into two teams just like Aqua and Magma.
