Do people have to apply to be mods or do they just say

"CONGRATULATIONS!!! UR A MOD NOW!!!"

You can apply at staff recruitment drives (they had one this spring, so don't expect one anytime soon), or they can ask you if you'd like to become one. Usually that happens when some other moderators suggests you for a moderator position in the mod-only board.

God I know way too much about things like this for someone who has never been a moderator :p

Seriously, how do they pick the mods? I've wondered this for a long time.

EDIT: never mind, I was ninja'd. I don't want to be one anyway and don't even stand a chance if I cared.

They pick you if they think you're qualified. Just be a good poster and contributor in whatever forum.

I wasn't seeking it either, it just comes to you.

I applied at the last recruitment drive, but didn't get the job.

And the staff recruitment drives. Come on, you must've seen it happening this spring.

Also I don't think just being a good poster/contributor is enough. I think it also has to do with how well the moderators think you can handle the job.

I really don't see the benefits of being a mod. People expect you to be perfect and it's more work. I come on here to have fun, not worry about what other people are doing wrong.

I think being a moderator would actually be very fun. Hard work maybe, but I think it'd definitely be rewarding.

Nah, you've got the wrong idea of it. I see it as more of a "I'm making the forums better for myself and others". The mods are the people who keep it a fun experience for you. None of the mods are perfect, I can assure you. just archaic
