Before begin the thread as a whole, in the spoiler below you'll find the state of every universe at the current moment. This will be updated as different universes are explored and decisions are made about the different worlds.
With the monarchs and champions of both the Mushroom and Koopa kingdoms gone, the land has become far more violent than ever before. Bowser's generals, siezing an opportunity, claimed Peach's Castle for themselves. However, without a set leader, they began to bicker, and have splintered, ruling separate parts of the kingdom each.
With Fox, Wolf, and Falco gone, both Star Fox and Star Wolf are effectively leaderless. While Krystal was able to round up Star Fox, Star Wolf splintered. But, with Fox gone, Andross's minions have begun stirring once more, and Krystal knows that the team won't be as strong without Fox and Falco.
Without Rock Light being around to take down Dr. Wiley, Dr. Light reluctantly created a new hero in order to save Mega City. The White Bomber does fight back against Wily still, but she has a different purpose as well: finding out what happened to her brother
With Sonic gone, Tails has disappeared trying to find him. Knuckles returned to the mainland to try to gather everyone together, but while he was gone Eggman swiped the Master Emerald. Now wielding the might of a Super Metal Sonic, the good doctor is tearing his way through the planet, human and mobian alike, in his grand conquest
Without leadership, the Kremlings are running amok (well, more amok than usual). Nothing is safe from their hordes... and whatever they find, they destroy.
Without Isabella, the town has fallen into ruin. The town is overflowing with weeds, there are cockroaches everywhere, and people are making a mass exodus from the now empty village. People have barely noticed the mayor's similar disappearance, since he usually shirked his duties anyways.
With Roy gone, Lilina rules on his stead. However, she doesn't quite have the clout that her husband did, and some of the nobles are beginning to act more and more independent of Etruria. In addition, there remain those who still think that Zephiel wasn't necessarily wrong...
Marth has ruled the land for many years with his wife Caeda. When he was gone, she would rule in his stead, at the advice of the Knights of Archanea. But even without the Shadow Dragon, Dohlr isn't quite happy to live under Archanean rule. Meanwhile, a new threat begins to emerge, from the far-off continent of Jugdral.
With the future safe and no home to turn back to, Lucina had moved to the World of Trophies full-time, as an organizer as well as a combatant for the tournament, so she was unmissed. However, the loss of both Chrom and Robin left a disturbance among the populace. Lissa, while a technically able ruler, is still quite childish, and her judgement isn't quite as sound as that of either of her siblings.

The RP begins whenever you feel like introducing your characters.

Slowly, the full moon raised into the sky above Natasha Seward. It had always been a full moon since the last remnants of House Belmont disappeared two weeks prior. While boding ill, it was still a more welcome sight than its bloody counterpart. Every evening she looked into the sky, afraid that the moon would turn crimson, and the gates of hell would once more spring open.
Looking down at the map in her hand, Natasha compared it to the wide open field in front of her. According to what information she could gather, the portals sprang up at areas powerful in magic. And in her world, few places were stronger than this plain... the original resting place of Castle Dracula.

A low, feminine voice came over the radio as Shylo strapped himself into a seat of the helicopter.
“Alright Garrett, as we discussed, you’re alone on this one, I won’t be sending anyone else out. It’s a simple recon mission. We need to know what we’re dealing with here.”
Shylo nods to himself. “Right, get to ground level, work the area around the arena, report back. Got it.”
The voice on the other side of comms sighs. “Just remember who we’re doing this for.”
Shylo clutches at the dog tags the pilot had given him. They were from the ‘boss’ he said. They’d belonged to Solid Snake and were given to Shylo as a means of inspiration, seeing as Snake had participated in the Smash arena before his death. So if Shylo had to do this, it would be in memorial to to the legend himself.

( forgive me, but there was no state of the Final Fantasy-verse?)
Cloud's disappearance wouldn't do a ton to that universe. Even less to yours, since iirc you aren't even from the FF7 universe. So it's just kinda in its regular form.

Mysidia, Greater Mysidian Continent, Land of The Wild Rose

Shadix works diligently on a machine in his workshop. a Machine that will put Chocobos out of commission. The parts cost him a Pretty penny, but despite all the guffawing, he kept on. his parents might look down on him for taking this path, but this is all that Shadix knows. When he was finished, Shadix takes a cloth, and begins to polish this lovely machine. Finally it was time to test this machine. Shadix straddles the Machine and revs its engine. Speeding onwards into the Forest. It looked like Endor, and who let that Jawa have a speeder? Soon he ends up in the Valley between the mountains, northeast of Mysidia. Shadix feels satisfied with the prognosis. In a couple of Days, Shadix will head for Fynn to throw his hat into the mixed bag of playing cards that is the Multiverse

Phoenia was soaring majestically through the clear skies. It was yet another delivery mission appointed to her by Lady Palutena herself, who was also the one who had granted Phoenia the magical power of flight. Once she would reach her destination and complete her delivery Phoenia figured she would get Lady Palutena souvenir gift from the location she was flying towards. That ought to make her goddess happy. But as Phoenia was thinking about this on her way through the skies her wings suddenly stopped working. She tried flapping them as hard as she could but to no avail. She started falling straight down towards the ground and she could feel her downward speed increasing as she fell. She was lucky enough to fall into a lake that she had happened to be passing over, but from the height she fell she was still injured and exhausted once she has swam ashore. She lay down on her back in the wet grass by the lake and gazed longingly up into the blue sky above her as she rested her body. Her state of shock would soon ease down and her injuries weren't too bad, but she was out of breath and very confused. After having regained her energy Phoenia stood up again and attempted to fly back into the sky, but her wings wouldn't lift her up at all, so instead she started walking. Not knowing exactly where she was she had no clue of where to go but she picked a direction and stuck to it.

A week later a tired and dirty Phoenia reached a fairly big human city that was surrounded by a stone wall. Normally she would be able to fly right over it but not anymore, so she found one of the gates into the city but it was guarded by some pretty stern looking gentlemen. She knew she wouldn't likely be able to get in there very easily. After a while of trying unsuccessfully to come up with a plan to get in she spotted a family with five children walking toward the city gate - it was obvious they would enter - so Phoenia took this opportunity to blend in with the kids. Knowing from her past experiences with humans that they may not take kindly to her angel wings, she made sure to hide them inside her dress. As she walked closely behind the family they reached the gate. The parents showed the guards a card of some kind and were then let inside. Being careful to avoid eye contact with both the guards and the family members Phoenia quietly walked with them inside, and as soon as they were in she snuck off by herself. Having grown up in a human city similar to this one she was familiar with their way of life, so instead of living on the streets as she had when she was young, this time she made sure to have at least a somewhat acceptable place to sleep.

One week after she arrived in the city Phoenia had spent the last couple of nights at a homeless shelter where she helped out with all sorts of things in exchange for some food and a bed to sleep in. It was far from ideal but it was her best option right now. Still making sure to conceal her wings from all the humans around her Phoenia had recently learned of the existence of a temple of the light goddess in the city. She figured it might do her good to visit a place where they worship Lady Palutena. If she couldn't get any answers to her questions there, she could at least get some peace of mind if only for a moment. Upon arriving at the temple in the outskirts of the city she went inside and found it empty. In the main hall of the temple stood a grand statue of Lady Palutena. Phoenia was almost brought to tears when she saw it. "Oh what's happened to you, Lady Palutena...?" she mumbled. Walking further into the temple she soon saw a portal in one of the side rooms. She had completely forgotten about those portals until just now when she saw it. After she started living with the other angels in Skyworld there had been so many new things and so much new information to take in, that the stuff she had learned about the portals completely slipped her mind. She knew the portals lead to different worlds, but she didn't remember a lot more than that. More than anything she wished to find Lady Palutena so that things could go back to how they used to be, but she wouldn't get much help in this dull city, so Phoenia made the choice to step through the portal with hopes of discovering a more positive world on the other side.

Coming through the portal on the opposite end Phoenia found herself in another temple. Or maybe it was a fortress or a castle, she couldn't really tell yet. She started making her way out of the dark interior. It felt somehow intimidating, but there was a pretty pleasant blue light shining in through one of the large windows. Once she had found the exit she saw that it was nighttime here and that the light that had shone in through the window had come from the huge full moon that was on its way up into the night sky. Looking at the building from the outside now, Phoenia could tell it was definitely a castle. Its size was massive and its towers were impressive. Phoenia almost got dizzy as she gazed up at the tall castle, and she nearly stepped over a ledge while her eyes were fixated on the castle. Luckily she noticed the ledge just in time though and saw that she was on top of a tall plateau-like structure that the castle had seemingly been built upon. This was truly an ominous place, but Phoenia decided not to turn back despite that. It was much too early to give up. As she mustered up her strength she looked out at the strange new world beyond the plateau.
