The starters are interesting because the only group of starters who are left out of the new moves party entirely are the Kalos starters and the Sinnoh starters. With the rest of the starters, one or two of their lines get some sort of new move, indicating that all three members of their trios are going to be available.
Which makes me happy cause that means I get my Swampert back. Lacks a mega sure, but still happy

Yeah that 20 new Gmax rumor is interesting the lineup would be nice if it was real.

However i think new Gmax pokemon are gonna be new / Returning pokemon added in the Dlc not pokemon that were in the main game that didnt get one main game.

If true Why now ?

As i said why use pokemon already in the galar dex when it be better to give them new / Returning ones.

I could argue it's the same reason how the Galar starters can now Gigantamax suddenly on this island. Maybe for story reasons this island has new gigantamaxes that haven't been seen in main galar.

Considering Beedrill, Pidgeot, Diancie, Slowbro, Audino, and Steelix all got new Megas in ORAS despite having little-to-no relation to Hoenn, I don’t think it’s too far out of the realm of possibility to see random Pokémon getting G-Maxes now.

That being said....what exactly makes this 4chan post credible?

That earns you a shrug my guy. All I can say is it sounds like stuff that GF would plan. For example having moves that have unorthodox effects sound like GF planning. Like Rillaboom having a Uproar effect. It's unexpected for battle, but it has deep layers for strategy

Being believable =\= being reliable/credible but still a good topic for speculation (and clickbait YT vids), I suppose.

I don't believe it either, but it is one of those "could go either way" rumors. Also, the poster doesn't know how to count.
Actually the numbers add up. The pokemon he listed, plus the starters, plus Klara and Avery's

No, he said we already knew about six G-Max formes already, but proceeds to mention seven Pokémon, with one of them having two formes, making it a total of eight G-Max formes known so far.

EDIT: Yes, it was just that beginning part.

"A Poison type specialist will get a Poison type G-Max form as his ace, just like how every other character has a GMax form ace."

Oh, I'm absolutely astounded by these predictions.

"GMax Tempo: Prevents allies from falling asleep"

Which is such a step up from Electric Terrain, of course.

Eh He was giving an example not predicting.
Also G-max goldrush nulls Gmax Smite. Its not like effects can't be repeated. Plus ET comes from an electric type move and effects the enemies as well. So I don't believe this is a point against the leak.

I still not believe it, but that's another matter entirely.

No, they were claiming to have intel, but their intel for these "new forms" was just that "These type specialists will have a GMax form for a Pokemon that they specialize in". The bit about " just like how every other character has a GMax form ace " was my addition, to show how easily this could be guessed.

We already have two facts that are common information:
  • Most characters with notable roles in the story, such as villains, rivals, and gym leaders use a Pokemon's GMax form
  • Klara will specialize in Poison-types, and Avery will specialize in Psychic-types
So the idea that they'll use a GMax Pokemon of these types is kind of a no-brainer. And our options for who they'll use are:
  • Klara will use Toxitricity or Venusaur, and Avery will use Orbeetle, the only GMax forms of their type that haven't been used by NPCs. (Neither one seems to suit their aesthetic)
  • They'll use a form that's already been used by an NPC (Doesn't make sense, why double up on them?)
  • They'll use a new form introduced in the expansion (Which is the most logical option, seeing as they're already used to promote the new mons...)
It's a ridiculously safe bet for someone who claims to have so much information. They expect us to believe they got all this info on what the new GMax moves are named and what they do, but they couldn't get a lick of information about these new Pokemon, just that they exist, which anyone could have guessed?
Also G-max goldrush nulls Gmax Smite.
GMax Goldrush isn't a move that every Pokemon can learn. Any Pokemon that learns Electric moves can use Max Volt.

I personally think Kalara and Avery will have new gigantamax pokemon. As for what I'm not sure about Klara, but Avery I think for sure will have an Alakazam.

Even though I think right now that the rumour is a Wishlist, this is something dumb enough to be a GameFreak decision.
Just look at G-Max Wildfire vs Max Flare, or G-Max Centiferno. In fact, many Pokémon have ended up more viable as Dynamax compared to Gigantamax.

I agree that rumor is just random bogus 4chan post, but I kinda think that Max Lightning setting up Electric Terrain and a G-Max Move preventing allies from Sleep are about as similar as Max Strike lowering Speed by 1 and G-Max Foam Burst lowering it by 2.

Someone actually hacked into Pokemon Home and found which Pokemon will be coming into Sword and Shield's Expansion Pass via what moves they will learn... By calculating these Pokemon, along with what is listed on the Galar Dex list in Bulbapedia, I've found that there are 262 Pokemon, which will likely include all the Starters, Fossils, Mythicals and Ultra Beasts.

With this info, it is more than likely that there is a grand total of 300 returning Pokemon in total (150 returning Pokemon for each or the Expansion Passes). That's around 734 Pokemon for SwSh in all, with 161 or 158 Pokemon cut from the game. (Number is based on what we know of Gen 8 thus far.)
