My university gave me some keys for windows 8.1 pro. I'm currently sitting in windows 8.1, i wanted to know if it's worth it to update mine to pro?

Error Code 003-1099 "No access point in range" occurs when access point is available!

For some reason, when I attempt to connect to my WiFi network on my Nintendo 3DS it shows the error code 003-1099 "No access point in range."

However, when this error code occurs my access point is able to be accessed on my Apple iPhone 4s and other devices, but not by the Nintendo 3DS. This means that the router is online and working, but the 3DS is unable to find it for some reason. How can I fix this error code permanently without resetting my router?

Before you ask, I already tried to set a fixed router IP address but it did not fix the problem.

What security setting is your router on? There are like two settings that don't work with the 3ds.

I think it is WEP.

I think it is WEP.

If it is set to WEP it should be working. Is the wifi switch on the 3DS turned on?

Hi, does anyone here know of a good remuxer with a user friendly interface, that can batch or queue alot of remuxes at once?

Just got my 3DS XL. It asks me to slide the 3D all the way up and click next, but when i click next it still asks me to slide the 3D all the way up even though it's already all the way up. Any help?

Edit: It seems the 3D slider is busted, just great. Good thing i can send this one back and refund all the money i spent on it and use that money to buy another 3DS XL. But this just made me hate the 3D gimmick of the 3DS.

The internal battery of my copy of Emerald has run dry, does anyone know how/where I can get it fixed?

Let me guess, it comes up with the message that 'the game can still be played, but time-based events will no longer happen' ?

No need to replace the battery in that case, just don't bother planting berries, and hope the shoal cave is accessible (low tide).

I have a question about wifi. I need a device that enhances the signal that reaches my computer. I also need someone who knows enough about wifi technology to tell me what exactly it is that i need. If you could provide links to the kinds of product i need that would be really useful.

How wil I recover files?

I have a colleague who normally helps us every time we are having problems with the network in our department. He is not really an IT specialist but he knows how to handle our problem until this time. He accidentally wiped out all and I mean ALL our files. We haven't backed up the files for the week and it's really bugging me. Is there still a way to recover our files? I need suggestions! What will I do?

Re: How wil I recover files?

Also not an IT specialist here but I like tinkering around.

Hmm how were the files wiped? I've had to do something similar to my friend's laptop, his hard drive was wiped but I was able to pull some of the files out.

I used a free program (can't remember what it is at the moment) but I ran it and it scanned the drive for any recoverable files. Took about an hour or two but it was able to get back photos, word documents, and whatnot, though I'm not sure on the extent of the recovery.

@Margorie Ciulla; I've merged your thread with tech help since it's where it belongs. :)

For all the computers that you want to recover files from, stop using them now! Perform data recovery on a computer that wasn't affected, with the additional drives containing lost files connected to the computer

If they're standard hard disk drives, try Recuva as a start. Hopefully, he just quick-formatted away the files, or accidentally deleted them. As long as nothing has been overwritten, you should be able to recover many of the files.

If they were ATA Secure Erase'd, had a write pass all over the drive, or an SSD, though, you're out of luck.

I believe those games use a watch battery to power their internal clocks, and if that's the case then it's just a matter of unscrewing the cartridge, taking out the old battery, and putting a new battery in. I'm pretty sure watch batteries are sold at basic places like Wal-Mart. You might want to use a pair of tweezers when you're taking the battery out because watch batteries and Game Boy cartridges are so small.

I woke up one day to see that my laptop has randomly decided to stop giving me audio. Every time I click on the speaker symbol in the tool bar it runs a scan for "Detecting Problems" and then tells me "Audio services not responding". I've Googled this problem myself and I've tried everything I've seen, and none of it has worked. This has really killed my mood the past few days, it's so frustrating. Can anybody possibly give me a solution? (I'm running Windows 10, by the way.)

Hey guys, does anyone know of a good, full version of Microsoft Word I could download for free? A link, maybe?

My 3DS doesn't connect to internet even if I have a connection to modem. First I thought it was because of the modem but then I tried to use my phone's internet but it gave the same error. I somehow manage to connect to modem (I set the password and it accepts it) but it doesn't connect to internet. I could upgrade the system except it doesn't connect internet. Should a format work?
