Why do you love your favorite pokemon? The designn? How powerful it is? Or some other reason? Please tell us.

All Bulbagarden rules apply.

Don't bully people about what pokemon they like, or why they like that pokemon.

If you disagree with someone, quote their post and politely say why.

Okay, let's start!
Why do I love Munchax? Well, it's design is adorable and i saw gifs online of it of eating apples and berries and they were adorable! Plus, I love his relationship with food. I have never been the fittest person (and probably never will be) and i would eat a lot. I would joke to my friends that I was a Munchlax. But then i took a liking to the hungry little bear. I had always liked Snorlax, but there was something special about Munchlax. And that's why I love him!

My favourite Pokemon was initially Bulbasaur! It's not even really just because I love the design of the entire evolutionary line, but also because it holds a special meaning to me -- it got me into the Pokemon franchise in the first place. n.n

Nowadays it's Shaymin, because it's absolutely adorable and I love both of its forms (though I love Sky Form a bit more)

Turtonator. It’s got a weird design, but it’s still cute and cool looking, and its animations in Refresh are adorable. Turtonator is also rather fun to use in battle too. Charge Beam + STAB + filler move is great.

I don’t even have to tell anyone my favorite pokemon.

Anyways, the main big reasons why I love my favorite pokemon, which is obviously pikachu if you haven’t guessed it by now, is not because of popularity from being the mascot, not because he’s a main character or anything like that, but because he means something to me. When I found out about pikachu and pokemon in general, it was by watching one of the newer anime movies. I found a soft spot for pokemon, and pikachu became my favorite.

He’s small, has an extremely cute personality, and everything on him is just so likable (my opinion) for me. I absolutely loved Detective Pikachu, he’s such a fluffy ball of humor, and the whole thing was just amazing.

sableye is my favorite pokemon. I like creepy things like ghosts and aliens and sableye is both of those, a ghostly cave dweller that resembles a hopkinsville goblin. Maybe it even is an extraterrestrial, who knows. The crystals manage to make it even cooler; its mega evolution even has a giant gem shield, which is undeniably awesome. Its typing is super unique and amazing (only shared with lameass spiritomb), especially before it gained a weakness to fairy in gen VI (I like fairy-types, but boooo). Despite its pathetic base stats, it managed to become somewhat of a star starting in gen V, which is impressive considering just how bad 380 base stat total is. Its playstyles are fun too, especially in its regular prankster form, although its mega form is even more useful. Well, it became less fun after gamefreak nerfed prankster, nerfed burn, and took away mega evolution (boo game freak. booooo). You know, I always recall liking sableye to some degree, but I think what made me first really start paying attention to it was when I saw it listed as the avatar and favorite pokemon of some person on starmen.net (fuck that place) back when I used that forum. I don't know if that sounds like a trivial reason for me to take notice of somefin, but that's what I recall happening. It became one of my top 10 or top 20. It even usurped feraligatr and sharpedo as my favorite pokemon at some point. Feraligatr and totodile were my original favorite pokemon, then it was sharpedo, nyow it's sableye. I think somefin that really helped was the fact that it was a member of my original pokemon battle revolution team, alongside sharpedo and some others.

My favorite is Oddish! My first games were Sapphire and FireRed, and Oddish was available pretty early in both of them, so I used it. I've used a Vileplume in every game Oddish has been available in since then.

I don't exactly know how it has become my favorite, but I love its round shape and beady eyes. In Sapphire I caught each one I saw and I had something like 20 of them, all with the same name.

Well my absolute favorite would be Nidoking. Now why do I love it...

I love Nidoking, because it carried my butt through Yellow. With it's varied movepool having the ability to use things like Earthquake, Thunderbolt, and Surf it became a good heavy hitter for me. It became the first Pokemon I really enjoyed using as I'd ended up catching this weak little Nidoran, and raised it into said Nidoking who took down later gyms, and could power through the Elite Four. It was a driving force in me deciding as a kid to keep taking down the Elite Four with it, and get it to level 100 in Yellow. It's at a point now where I try to catch and fit one on my team in every game it's available in.

Sneasel is my favorite pokemon. Why? My reasons are probably weird.

I have many Pokemon OC Trainers and I used to rp with my girlfriend. One girl, a witch themed Ghost Type trainer also kept a Sneasel around because she accidentally caught it one day. It had stolen her pokeballs and accidentally activated one. She doesn't tend to keep him in his pokeball, instead allowing him to rest on her head, hidden under her hat. His name is Sneaker, and he's known to be a little thief who also likes collecting things. Especially if they're shiny. For a while I didn't really consider Sneasel that interesting of a pokemon, but I found myself having him do shenanigans more and more. One day I just realized that I loved his design. I've changed up some of my OCs pokemon teams, and while my witch girl doesn't have a sneasel anymore, Sneaker now belongs to my Dark type trainer.

Also, its shiny is pink. And that is amazing. In my girlfriend and I's rps, Sneaker ended up having an egg with my dark type trainer's fairy trainer brother's Clefairy. No, we don't care they're not in the same egg groups. A whale can have babies with a kitten. A weasel having babies with a fuzzy pink fairy is the least of the problems here. We named the baby Pinkle.

My favourite Pokemon... there are too many of them to chose one favourite. But Crobat... well, I like bats, for starters. They get bad rep because of some species drinking blood and spreading diseases, but they're very important to our ecosystem, with fruit bats playing a big role as pollinators and insect-eating ones allowing us to limit the usage of pesticides. Their cute faces and creepy, skeletal wings and feet may seem like a weird and off putting combination at first - but it actually gives them an unusual, cool look. There's also their association with darkness and witchcraft. Most people are afraid of it. I am not. Quite the opposite, really: I feel more comfortable in darkness (not the pitch-black, of course, just slightly dark) than in light - witchcraft meanwhile... I switch constantly, sometimes few times a day, between "I am a scientist, my mind is purely scientific and I know no such thing exists" and "I am catholic, I deeply believe in God and I know no witch or demon stands any chance against a honest prayer". Either way - also nothing to fear.

As for Crobat specifically - somewhat cute design, that's for starters. Most Pokemon are adorable, alright, but still.
By giving it additional pair of wings and cephalothorax they avoided turning it into a generic giant bat. They avoided however making it TOO weird looking (which is my main gripe with Golbat - possibly the only bat Pokemon I don't like, specifically for its impossibly huge maw and long tongue that both make it look too weird for my taste). It also happens to be surprisingly powerful for an evolution of one of the most Pokemon out there - it started with me playing an online fangame "Pokemon TD2", making the obvious "I like bats -> Zubats are everywhere -> I should catch Zubat and add it to my team" connection, and then discovering that its HUGE speed, respectable attack and pretty good moveset carried me through much of the game. Since then, Crobat was a mainstay on most of my teams in all games after first gen.

My favorite is Banette, and it just ticks all of my boxes of traits that I love in Pokemon and monsters in general. It's a plushie, it's a Ghost type, its design is a perfect mix of creepy and cute, and it's also a pretty unique design. I can't think of anything else that has those eyes, those horns, that tail, or that... windsock thing coming off the back of its head. Although the zipper mouth and long, floppy arms tipped with wide, short fingers do give me slight Digimon vibes, but anything that reminds me of Digimon is a very good thing in my book. And how could I not love it when it has such a tragic backstory? This poor little abandoned ragdoll just wants someone to love and take care of it, and I'd be more than happy to fulfill that role. Plus I'm not at all interested in competitive battling, so it not being that great in battle (at least without Mega Evolution) never bothered me.

How lovely it is to find a monster friend that appeals so perfectly to you!

My favorite has always been Dragonite!

I’m quite old now so I started watching/playing Pokémon when it first released. In the first season of the anime, Dragonite was always portrayed as this almost invincible, mythical beast. If you had one, then you were almost unbeatable.

Although he’s not as strong as he once was, he’s still my favorite!

My favorite Pokémon are Mimikyu, Gardevoir and Alolan Ninetales.

I like how Mimikyu is almost as developed as the human characters in Sun and Moon. It has flaws, a cute theme song, a backstory and expresses a wide range of emotions.

I also watched an interesting video on YouTube once in which somebody who actually lives in Hawaii discussed the potential origins of Mimikyu and how it relates to the culture and history of the indigenous people. Apparently there was a controversy in real life with a Walmart store which was built on a sacred burial site in order to attract more tourists.

Mabye the Pikachu that Mimikyu stalks represents commercialism? If you talk to the guide next to the abandoned super market he will comment on how the store wasn't built in a way that respects the Tapus and the natives. Is Pokémon discussing cultural appropriation here? Interesting to think about...

I also like Gardevoir, mostly because I liked Pokémon Mystery Dungeon and the plot involving it. I like how everything isn't black and white and the focus on forgiveness.

Alolan Ninetales is my favorite in terms of design. It is really beautiful! I also think it might be a reference to the Ninetales from PMD that lives on a snowy mountain.

My favorite Pokemon is always going to be Kyurem, not only is the whole putting pieces of a dragon back together concept a lot more interesting than what many say, Kyurem is actually relatable.

I had the worst time during my high school days, but the one thing that kept me going was that Pokemon since in a way, I felt incomplete at the time as well and all I needed was some sympathy to get me through high school.

Sob story out of the way, I really like how Sword and Shield teases a new form for Kyurem in the Pokedex: "Dwelling within it is a power even greater than that of Reshiram or Zekrom, but the extreme cold keeps that power bound."
The Pokedex entries for White Kyurem and Black Kyurem are also given positivity around them, which I'm finally glad Game Freak debunked the popular misconception of this Pokemon being evil: "It has foreseen that a world of truth will arrive for people and Pokémon. It strives to protect that future."/"It's said that this Pokémon battles in order to protect the ideal world that will exist in the future for people and Pokémon."

Blaziken is my favorite?

Why? Well, it was technically my first Pokemon ever. I got it as the mystery gift in XY and even though I picked Fenniken as my starter, my first pokemon has always been Torchic in my mind. By the end of the game it was my ace and it was my first legit level 100 pokemon. Plus it's Mega is super cool and I love it.

My favourite is Absol. I love its sleek design, its tail, colour scheme, good movepool, cry, and really sad backstory. I've also grown to like its Mega. When it was first introduced, it lacked a strong STAB attack, since there was no physical/special split yet, but it became quite deadly in the very next generation.

I don't play favorites, actually I don't actually like playing Pokémon that much beside from the fact it distracts me away from reading about Susan Wainwright a premade sims character I was very obsessed with.
