See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil!
They came from somewhere weird, Tate knew that much. How weird was weird? It was hard to say. Everything was weird around these parts. Still, these three were especially unusual. They had arrived late at night -- or very early in the morning, depending on your perspective -- and forced the manager of the adoption center out of bed and into the rain to handle their intake. Arriving soaked to the bone and clutching a rainbow-patterned umbrella, Tate found an equally drenched warden from the nearby park standing on the stoop with three little red balls seated -- perfectly still -- at her feet. Were it not for the occasional blinking of their eyes, it might not even be apparent that they were alive. A quick reference of Tate's Pokédex summed them up sucinctly -- Darumaka, the Zen Charm Pokémon. They were Fire-types, but as the rain continued to pour down, they seemed placid and utterly unaffected by the chilly water. It wasn't as though Fire-type Pokémon dropped dead the moment they got wet or anything, but one would expect them to be at least unhappy about it. They were not, or rather, if they were there was absolutely no indication of it. The just sat there, perfectly still, and stared at nothing in particular, finally moving only when Tate unlocked the door to the center. One by one they stood up and walked in a single-file row into the building, without being prompted. Tate looked at the warden, and the warden shrugged. By the time the pair of humans walked inside to complete the intake forms, the three Darumaka were once again seated, perfectly round and perfectly motionless, in a tidy row on the floor.
