Well my brother's GF let me borrow her Diamond version. She only had 4 Pokemon and no badges yet when I got it.

I now have 1 badge, a shiny Raikou and Entei (Hmmm, wonder where those came from?) and about 30 in the Pokedex. Yeah, this is gonna be fun.

I usually play to get to the point where I can get something necessary for the Pokes I raise for online battles.

Even if my WiFi worked with my DS, I wouldn't bother with online battles. EV/IV training is a long tunnel of bullshit.

I used to battle online, but now I got bored of it.

By the way, TFB, have you ever had photoshop elements? I don't fill like paying for the $600 dollar one, so I wanted to know if the elements one was any good.

Well I've personally never used Elements, but according to Wikipedia: "Photoshop Elements targets photography enthusiasts and thus lacks many features that make it useful in a proper print production environment. For example, Photoshop Elements cannot export files in the CMYK color mode (without using a third-party plug-in), supports a simplified color management system, and excludes detailed soft-proofing. It also either eliminates completely or offers simplified versions of some of the more powerful plug-ins, and instead has a number of features aimed at non-experts (such as removing the red-eye effect or changing the skin tone in a picture). An example of a redesigned feature would be the Variations correction dialog. Some versions can, however, open, edit, and save PDFs."

So yeah, I wouldn't really want it, as I mainly do cartoon drawing and painting. But it all depends on what you need the program for. You might only want the photo stuff.

Thanks, I might get it. I have seen people use it for spriting (the main reason I want something like it). I also to image edits sometimes. At least it''s a lot better than what I use now. (MS paint, I'm use to it's lack of options by now.)

Oh wow, nice!

This is to whom?

Her biggest fan. Whoever that is. (I suspect Chuck.)

OK then. Photoshop has been fun for spriting for me.

Yeah, I consider myself an okay spritist, I like coming up with new categories for sprites, like my invisibles.

I rarely do any computer art.

Trust me, EV training isnt that bad if your Pokemon have Pokerus and EV enhancing items.

But good IVs are really, really boring to get. And they hardly make a difference.

If you ask me, move tutor moves are the most difficult things to obtain. Shards and BP are really annoying to get.

I think Gabe summed it up nicely here.

"I'm thirty years old now, and I've been playing games for more than twenty of those. I've seen some real bullshit in all that time and EV's are right up their towards the top of the list. As far as I can tell this is how they work. If your Pokemon fights another Pokemon that's really fast for example, it earns a point towards it's speed Effort Value (EV). For every four of these points that you get your Pokemon will gain one more point to it's speed stat when it levels up. Now each Pokemon awards EV's for different stats and some give points for multiple stats. The problem is that these EV's are invisible and limited. So there's only a certain number of them that a single Pokemon can take advantage of and there's no way to track them in game. I got tips like "create a spreadsheet for each of your Pokemoin with rows for all their stats and manualy enter any EV's they get..."

Create a spreadsheet?

Then I started reading about IV's and I saw this shit:
Now that I've showed how much they can affect stats, let's grab the equation for determining a Pokemon's Individual Value. Keep in mind that this is NOT for Hit Points. That has its own equation.
IV = ((Math.Ceiling(Stat / Personality Value) - 5) * 100 / Level Value ) - 2 * Base Stat – Effort Points / 4
Are you fucking serious? I never got past algebra.

All I want to do is show people my Pokemons, not build a Goddamn time machine!

So I started digging into serebii.net yesterday and I got my first glimpse at just how far this rabbit hole goes. I told myself I wasn't going to fall into it but I ended up spending the morning trying to acquire a new Chimchar with the preferred "jolly" nature. Once I'd done that I spent the afternoon EV training him on Ponytas and Machamps. I'm telling you this not because I am proud but because I need help. Someone needs to stop me before I start doing long division to figure out what kind of fucking berry I should feed my shittlesaur."

Well, he probably didnt have any EV enhancing items or Pokerus. Those two things speed up EV training a lot. I think that you get around 8 times as many EVs as you would normally get.

I still dont give a shit about IVs.

Or, like Ino says, you can just hack the game

Pokerus just helps you EV faster, especially combined with Power Items. You can hack it, but i just choose not to
