So, here's my honest review.

Wow. I'd recommended it... to my first-grade cousin and all of her friends.

It just isn't to my taste, guys, and I really wonder how you like it so much. The animation's good but it's way, way, waaaay too saccharine. The opening tune is catchy and yet cringe-worthy. There's no overall plot and the big scary dragon isn't actually a big scary dragon because, honestly, it's meant to be watched by little girls. The show is the way it is not 'cause it's based but because it's supposed to be like this. I don't like it cause I prefer more mature stuff in general or at least I prefer my scary and cool stuff to be actually cool and scary. Courage the Cowardly Dog is meant for little kids, too, but there's some stuff in it (many actually) that still make me cringe. I can see how Rainbow Dash is meant to be the strong buttkicker but can you compare him to the likes of Sceptile or, dare I say, Charizard? And bringing in someone like Kamina into the equation is just plain old overkill.

One of the above posters compared the dragon to Smaug. Yeah, dude's a dragon in a mountain cave full of treasure. But if memory serves right Smaug had to be killed through that missing scale of his or something. Not talked down till he cries. He was even winning. They stood no chance and then- wham- Deus Ex Machina not even meant to be covered. You know who would've made the dragon really cry? Shinji. The world would probably be just as dead as the dragon, sadly.

In short, the show is lacking to me but not because it's bad, it's just cause it's not meant to be liked by people like me. What I still wonder, and I hope you'll be as kind to answer, is how come you like it so much. Pokémon is probably the most kid-friendly Japanese franchise I know and it still is way more cooler and, hell, even mature, than this. Again, compare MLP's biggest badass to any other well-known anime or cartoon badass.

P.S. From what I gathered from this ep, that rabbit Fluttershy has is the hidden biggest badass in the franchises that has totally walked into the wrong show. He would done better against the dragon.

So, no hard feelings and do enlighten me how come you like it so much.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, we're entitled to ours. But thanks for trying it out, anyway.
Also, you can get a few laughs out of the derpy expressions sometimes.

To each their own, I guess. I love the animation style, the humor, the characters, the world-building, particularly in later eps. Plus, it's the first time in a long time that I've gotten into something genuinely recent. Basically, Pony is my crack right now, the same way Star Trek TNG was my crack a couple months ago. I might move on eventually, but for now I'm just enjoying it, and I really don't feel like preaching about it. If you don't like it, fine. Life goes on. The sun's still gonna come up tomorrow.

Oh Aladar is here. I can wait with going to bed in that case.

I like it because I like the colourfulness of the show, because I like the characters, and because I like the humour. It entertains me, and the episodes can be watched in a random order (in other words there is no one big plot devided over multiple episodes, like it is in for instance avatar the last airbender, which I generally don't like). Also, the songs.

The whole thing kinda reminds me of the Simpsons, only more colourful and a little more childlike.

Mizzle doesn't like Avatar: The Last Airbender?

That show practically reinvented Western animations and actually managed to pull of the animesque look, dude? Plus, the characters! The battles! The battle choreography is awesome!

Aladar is one of dem Anime watchers. He just dislikes things from the west. At least that's my observation :3

Re-read the post, I said read, not skim, and try to understand what I said again.

Ehh, I saw some episodes of Avatar, finally, not too long ago. The characters and story were pretty cool, but the animation kinda turned me off. The characters move in very stilted motion, with very few inbetweens. Mainly just jumping from pose to pose with little flow.

I like avatar the last airbender because of the humour. Take the humour away, and you have your standard srsbsns anime.

Hey, that's not true! I'm a fan of both Clone Wars series, I like Galactik Football, I'm a very big Disney fan and I've watched all seasons of Kim Possible! xD And don't get me started on the Total Drama series. It reeks of awesome.

Don't go generalizing there, mate!
