Put in quotes because I wasn't sure if that was the correct term or if I really have one to begin with. Maybe a better way to describe it would be the way one phrases things or their typical vocabulary. I think part of the reason some thought I was a guy was because I use swear words that are considered more "boyish."

It's usually the avatars. People with females in their avatar get seen as girls, and vice versa :p

It's not always the avies (though that's the reason most of the time). Some people thought I was a girl because of my username.

Apparently "J J M" could only stand for "Jessie James Meowth", so that somehow implies I'm a TR fan and since most TR fans on bmgf are female, that implies I'm female. :/

I'd use the HG/SS art.

Lol. I guess it can be the username too. If the username reminds you of a female name for instance.

For some reason, Iteru always seemed like a feminine username.

I've never had anyone confuse my gender lol.

I mistook the gender of someone on the anime forums. Can't remember who it was.

I thought Evil Figment was a girl for awhile. (And this was prior to the Demon Pony avy.)

I remember that because it was for like the first month I joined, and I never bothered to look and confirm it until that time. xD

He has corrected me a couple of times. But we made up, as I Stole asked him for the avatar that I currently use.
