Romance languages: italian, french, spanish, portuguese, and... romanian, I think.

English can go easily to romance or germanic, because it's pretty much the secret love child of French and German.

ghaskan: Did I ever say Portuguese was useless? It would be quite handy to learn, considering Brazil is an emerging world power.

Romance languages?

Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, Romanian, Catalan, Aragonese, Aromanian, Arpitan, Asturian, Corsican, Emiliano-Romagnolo, Friulian, Galician, Ladino, Leonese, Lombard, Mirandese, Neapolitan, Occitan, Piedmontese, Romansh, Sardinian, Sicilian, Venetian and Walloon. It's possible I missed a few.

Chinese is Sino-Tibetan.
Japanese is Japanese-Ryukyuan.
Those native African languages are under a group called Bantu. And they don't only make clicking noises, that's a stereotype. They speak like most other languages, but they also use clicks as well.

Well, judging by Wikipedia, it seems that Chinese (Mandarin at least) belongs to the Sino-Tibetan and Sinitic language tree. Dunno about the clicking thingy though.

Edit: Ninja'd Fuck my slow connection right now.

Still think it's weird Brazil's native language is Portugese.

Not any weirder than Mexicans speaking Spanish.

What do you speak as a native language, btw? It says you live in South Asia.

Sometimes I regret not learning French, but that was only that one time when I met that hot French girl. She couldn't speak English :s.
