you mean Alt162As you probably know, the USA is "Los Estados Unidos" in spanish. But when you're creating acronyms in spanish, if it's plural, you double the letters. So it goes from EU to EEUU.
Interestingly enough, basketball is baloncesto in Spanish (there's an accent on the first o, too lazy to go and fetch it off the character map)... which isn't close at all to the english word. Otherwise, they're pretty much cognates:
beisbol
voleibol
futbol
etc.
