Y'know what always sucks, anime that has a character who's from a country where they don't speak Japanese. They end up sounding weird when they speak English.

For examplé, Patricia Martin in Lucky Star, she sounds fine when she speaks Japanese, but sounds like an 8 year old when she speaks English.

I'm sure they could find a voice actor who's legitimately bilingual, or get a phonetic pronunciation or something.

Aren't actors supposed to be able to change how their voices sound and adapt them?

Not to be too racist, but my Dad (who immigrated from China) has a pretty high pitched voice in English. But, sounds totally normal in Chinese! I don't think everyone can be perfect at speaking in different dialects because they just aren't use to it! But I've hear of dialect coaches before which are hired to train actors, like British Actor Hugh Laurie from House!

Then they should get me. I'm bilingual. :ksmile:

Have you ever seen a movie where the actor with no experience in another language, is trying to speak it for the movie?
