Super Mario 64 and Pokemon Silver were all I needed when I was little. Man, I could play Super Mario 64 for hours.

I pretty much obsessed over Pokemon Gold, play that all day. I never completed the dex, there was a bunch of Pokemon I never saw, like Tyranitar, but I loved playing it.

Yeah, I was basically screwed in getting the entire Pokedex since all my friends had Sapphire or Ruby on their fancy Game Boy Advances. The third generation had just come out when I got my first Pokemon games (Silver, Gold, and Yellow).

I've always been a bit behind the pack when it comes to video games. xD

Ah, I don't even keep up with games. I'm not really a gamer, basically. I'm just more interested in music, quite simply.

Pokemon Snap and Stadium were fun, too. Besides Pogeymanz, though, I remember Tony Hawk Pro Skater vividly. Maybe a bit too vividly.

I remember the time I did a 1080. mmrs dood :'3

Well Shadow of the Colossus looks like it's entertaining. Heavy Rain looks almost like real people.
Well, at least you don't own a cod game like I do *facepalm* I was so naive back then it was sad. Now I play games like Dishonored so I've gotten better, but nothing beats the classics.Am I right?

Well, about that...

I'm kidding, good older games are fantastic. They have a sense of creativity to them, like both the player and the developer have to use their imaginations a little bit. But I'm a person who craves depth and immersion, and more recent, more technologically advanced games can accomplish that better than the old side-scrolling platformer or 2-dimensional RPG. Video games are supposed to create a fantasy, and whether or not you want to immerse yourself in it or let the game pull you in is just a personal preference. I don't even know which I prefer.

Good Point's
without technology we would have never gotten games like cod or Bulletstorm. So people like me should stop being stuck in the past and move foreword like the rest of the world is doing and stop saying classics are better, and just say "I'M A GAMER AND I AM PROUD OF IT!! Or at least be open to the world
what the hell am I saying

Beats me.

Yeah, better technology leads to excess and embellishment, but in the hands of great artists, it can make a great idea for a game that much better. If we didn't have the technology to make Call of Duty or MadWorld or whatever, we wouldn't have the technology to make Shadow of the Colossus or Batman: Arkham City, either.

Yeah, your right it just depends on the artist

Do you believe in the uncanny valley? If so, do you think we've been hitting it a bit hard with recent video games? These days, animation that looks slightly off makes me feel queasy instead of funny.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean that recent video games are slipping into the uncanny valley too much, or that we're too hard on today's advanced technology?

It can be either, or both, seeing as they are related (sometimes, even said advanced technology isn't enough to hide certain shortcomings... or the ineptitude of animators)

I disagree with your statement. Care to explain?

I think it's more of a problem with bad animators in the video game industry, but I sometimes feel like that it's exaggerated when you're also looking at realistic graphics at the same time.

Ohhh how animators are trying to make games look real, but fail horribly
I know what you mean

I think modern-day videogame's animations are just fine. It just depends on the game, really. Some look fine realistic and some look fine not-realistic. Really though, I wouldn't say they're failing horribly at all. -w-;;

An animator's work is extra hard when he/she has to deal with a video game - outside of cut-scenes, anything can happen. It's hard to make everything look exactly right, and most, if not all procedural animation engines either behave strangely or use too much CPU.
