Wow that sounds pretty cool. I would never get into the research like you, I'd just use some arch types, fulfill some sort of plot spread evenly throughout a couple of books. As I said, I really want to, but I know that even if I have the power to build a world, and I did, but I sure as hell don't have the willpower to make something cohesive. It would feel like an insult to fantasy writers at best.

I really can't write at all, my mind just doesn't put enough detaits into anything so I can't write any thing

On another note, my brother is a big fan of survival horror video games and he finally got me to play Slender for the first time. I think I got 5 out of 8 pages before I noticed the ambient music getting louder and accepted a dare to turn right around and see if Slenderman was there to prove my incredible gutsy macho masculinity. Guess what happened.

I only got one note ;_;

Well, part of me worries that I'm overplaying my deck and working with two many things, and should simplify.

A lot of the world-building I already did for a different story, though, and this one is a lot more interesting and will do a lot more with the various elements. (Basically, it's that these secret civilizations on other planets are at war - namely, there's a war between Jupiter and Saturn - and something about it means the people of Jupiter, who are ostensibly the "good guys," need Earthlings to win the war for them. And so they've been farming out talented Earthling teens and young adults by giving them special powers, training them by having them defeat supernatural enemies for a few years at home, and then spiriting them away to their planet by faking their deaths on Earth. And these teens are torn between sympathy for the Jupiterian cause and the fact that they're the only ones with the ability to fix it, and the fact that they have their own dreams and wishes and hopes and also that they care about people back home. There are still a lot of things I need to figure out, but that's the gist of it.)

Aww, poor thing. 5 out of 8 is pretty good for a first attempt ever, if I do say so myself. xD I must say, I was keeping a neutral mind playing it, and the ways in which Slenderman would come out of the wood-work for me could get pretty well-timed and surprising.

I'm writing a novel. it's basically all stream of conciousness writing, the first section, around 200 characters focuses on the main character's experience when he killed a man. The second when he was scared of thunder. I'm writing this from the perspective of a man seeing his life flash before his eyes.

That sounds really trippy. Would read if recommended.

For some reason "the main character's experience when he killed a man" reminded me of "Folsom Prison Blues" by Johnny Cash. You know, I shot a man in Reno / Just to watch him die.

And I actually saw a documentary a while ago about musicians in the Louisiana prison system. I was really surprised that they didn't use that song in some way in it.

Haven't even done a page yet :p it's just a hobby :p

Yeah, I kept telling myself that seeing him was nothing to flip out over, but then when I actually did... no matter how far away he was, I always gasped a little bit and I was just a little unsure of what to do next. xD Then when I turned around that one time and he was standing maybe ten feet from me I had to let out a scream, even though it felt forced.

Screaming out of impulse is a really weird feeling, from my experience. I haven't done it very many times in my life.

I once wrote a novel, the story was finished in three pages. And that's why I can't write novels.

Lots of writers like to say that a novel is a short story with fluff. Lots of times that's true, but every once in a while, there comes along a story that actually needs the large size of the novel to be best portrayed. Many novels would be better left as shorts or novellas, though.

Its not too much, I think its pretty cool. You took the teens with attitude who save the world theme and put them in college, so now their responsible adults who view their powers as a curse then a blessing who have to overcome the fact that destiny has given them the powers for a reason. Your is not a mountain of plot like mine:

Basic concept is that when time began 4 humans had challenged the devil and death, to protect adam and eve's purity. Thing is that the 2 humans who fought with the devil and death won, however it was too late, the damage was done. The initial sin is not taking a bit out of an apple, but instead giving up to lust and gluttony. This is done in a not so classy way in which Adam is bit by a wolf and Eve gives in to the devils tempting, who is really a vampire. After these events, the lineage of these humans are called the Marked Sons and are outcasts, disowned human beings despised for the shame cast down upon them. For eons the carried burden has taken many lives, as the need for humanity to be accepted once more by god has started many a war, between those who would protect the marked families as they are a sign of what we should not be, and those who feel the eradication of their lineage is what god demands. That however does not mean the Marked Sons are at all innocent, as their lineage has caused much strife outside of war. Vlad Temptest of Transylvania was a Marked Son of Eve, and the first Vampire of written History. The werewolf underground has been led for centuries now by a Marked Son of Adam, despite the outrage by the family. Neutral Good however does exist in the Marked Son of Gabriel lineage, who have the unfortunate task of taking souls. Although Death still does exist, Gabriel's Lineage has vowed to protect the wholesome and deliver them to Heaven, as Death has vowed allegiance with the Devil since the beginning of Time. Unfortunately the Marked Sons of Lucifer have no role on this planet, being acursed beings sought out for being Devil spawn, and nothing else. All 4 families have the powers given to them by their scars, which is apparent by the Marked Sons Moniker. See, when Death and the Devil fought with Lucifer and Gabriel, their weapons dealt some major damaged. Their weapons were blessed by their own hands to carry their powers, and as thus the powers transferred over to Lucifer and Gabriel. They fought a mighty fever as the blessing of the weapons demands, but by divine intervention they survived. Of course the vampire and werewolf line have the obvious powers, so yeah.

I don't feel like writing anymore, and I'll give off the plot later. Its basically humanities hunger for acceptance with god in a fantasy tale, mixed in with the Marked Sons learning to mingle with each other, cause the families unfortunately hate each other even if they all meant to help each other in the beginning. The first book would deal with the first age and the spreading of their disease, and all subsequent books will be the present and the current Marked Sons going on their journey for freedom.

I'm writing on something a bit less interesting, how to find the volume of a cylindrical wedge with Cavalieri's principle. Not exactly clash of mighty forces.

This post is brought to you by me.
Sponsored by conversations long past the point of it being normal to reply to, but I went ahead and did it anyway.

So today I found out that some of my plushies might not be legitimate. While most of them are probably real, I'm sure some of them are either bootlegs or factory rejects.

At first I was absolutely devastated by this realization, but now I'm not. I've come to the conclusion that even if some are fake, they are all adorable (aside from Grotle) and they are all my plushies and I love them all and they are my precious. <3

Still doesn't change the fact that I'll be more careful from now on when buying them.
That's the spirit! :D (They were quite cute from the pics you posted in RM.)

Tbh I'd rather have handcrafted stuff over legit merch in general (maybe plushies, depending on how good of a bootleg they are). More unique.

Lol, I flirt with all the fine ladies of BMGF. Kaori, Meenah, KM, it's all good.
I haven't had the balls to hit on KM yet. She's been a mod for as long as I've been here, so she kinda intimidates me.

so in uther wurds dats a ho i aint guna bother w/
But she's gawjuss! .. Which reminds me, I need to invite Kaori for a threesome.
If you was flirtin' with the fine ladies you'd stay clear of me then.
emotvfemale.gif

And I'm very intimidating at 5'2'' and my nasally voice. B/

fab always makes sense in some way or another, though sometimes it only makes sense to him :p
Omg ur all picking on me! Although it is true that I don't make much sense to others.
stop stealing mah lines fab

Semi tempted to change the thread name to something silly, but no ones in here, it'd be pointless. Like laughing at your own jokes.
I do that quite a bit. They say it adds five minutes onto your life. I'm hoping to become immortal this way.

Or, slightly more realistic, making up for all of my other bad habits.

I don't know backwards compatibility isn't a mandatory thing nowadays. I'd totally buy a PS4 in the safe knowledge that I could play ps1, ps2 and ps3 discs.
^

Urgh, I won't be getting that, then. I don't even have a PS3, 'cause that was too expensive.
^

That and I'm trying not to fail all of my classes.

Seriously though, Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros Brawl and Skyward Sword are must-plays.

Brawl was amazing. Seriously, the SSB games are the only reasons I'd buy an N64, Gamecube, or Wii. Just for those games. Although N64 I'd buy Mario Kart, the Pokemon Stadiums, and a few other games. Gamecube... probably XD and Colosseum, and I dunno what else.
lack of fire emblem and starfox makes me sad face

But yay for Shadow Pokémon games being on that list. :D

I generally prefer drinks that arent strong ^^;
I think the two of us drink too much fizzy drinks/soda than is good for us xD
Add me to that group. xD

your house doesn't need anymore points put your hand down and leave some for us Hufflepuffs >:T

I hate both 7up and Sprite equally so I've never really tasted any difference between them.
I don't particularly care for them either. Unless I have an upset stomach.

GEICO has the best commercials.

Most insurance companies make entertaining commercials.
Old Spice made the best commercial ever.

But yes a lot of them do make entertaining commercials too. I like the Progressive ones.

Speaking of Coke, there was a Russian general in WW2 who really liked Coke but he couldn't be seen drinking it because it was a symbol of capitalism, so the president asked the Coke company to manufacture clear Coke in order to make it look like he was drinking vodka. It was bottled in clear bottles with a red star on the cap. [wp]White Coke[/wp]
Neat/yay for random trivia!

wow i just jumped on a conversation from a page ago /wow/
uh...

I prefer unfizzy drinks, like water. Does me good.
I almost transitioned to water when my dad bought a case of flavored water and no one else in the house was drinking it, so I did. Instead of taking soda to school and work I'd take that. But eventually it ran out and I switched back to soda. And that was my attempt at slightly improving my health.

I'm expecting a call for a movie deal on this story any day now. (And I'll only agree to it if Evanna Lynch plays me.)

I'm in the opinion that the subconscious is a hoarding douchebag.

It could share the dreams so you could enjoy them, but most of the time it keeps them to itself. ;_;
i say we all beat it up after school, that'll learn it. more than a day's worth of school at least.

They need to make this forum have a feature where you can look at people's old profile pictures.

I liked teh old one as well.
This would be neat. In theory/not taking into account any possible strain it could cause like Neo mentioned.

You can make albums on your profile and put old avatars/profile pics in them, so a feature like that exists sort of.
^
The only people I know of that do that offhand are you, $¥, and me, but I've sure there are more.

I have two cats and two dogs. They actually get along pretty well.
Same @ both sentences.

Sticker Star ain't that great. I got it for Christmas, beat the first world then just stopped playing. Not good like the old ones.
Aw dammit. ;-;

I've never dug patriotism.
I've never been big on it either, at least excessive patriotism. Appreciating the good your country brings you isn't bad, but there's always stuff a nation can strive to improve. Eh, I'd prefer to be humble or modest and not just so my sp atk would go up because it's not like I did anything to earn my nationality, I just happened to be born where I was born.

I do agree though, after 2 the Paper Mario series went a bit downhill. I still liked Super Paper Mario, but Thousand Year Door will always be my favorite.
^

Or at least TTYD was my favorite, I can't decide between the first two anymore. Such great games. <3

I try to base my avatars on what I think other people will like. I've determined that if people don't like your avatar, they might associate that with you or your posts. If they do like it, they might associate it as well. Like right now, if I think of Satoshi-kun, the first thing that comes into my head is some kid with big glasses. That's a pretty neutral thing for me. But if I think of Ninfia I think of Sylveon, which is adorable! I try to make all my avatars visually appealing nowadays so people subconsciously associate the positive traits of my avatar with me and my posts, as opposed to them associating a lot of negative traits with me and my posts.
You should go with whatever you like. ^^ My avatars as of late are references that only seem to amuse myself.
But that's an interesting theory you have there.

On another topic, I broke my headphones. >.< There goes $65 worth of equipment.
Awww that's awful! This is why I personally can't trust myself to get into the expensive headphone trend. I go through them like most people go through socks.
Me too. Possibly. What do you consider expensive? I usually go for Phillips ones that are less than $30, they tend to last a year with my iPod slipping out of my pocket or me being a klutz and dropping it.

On a similar subject, what's the most expensive electronic thing you guys own? Mine would be my computer, Win 7 and all that'll, my stereo would be next, because my brother owns the PS3.
My laptop. It's around 400 USD.

Lol I remember a time when the answer to this question would be my Kanto Pokédex for $20. xD

I also found heaven:
OOF7
duuuuude o.o

I kinda just assumed everyone here was between 16 and 20.
I tend to do this too, unless it's stated otherwise.

I'm 20. And I'm not that into Pokemon
(I'm personally not hugely into Pokemon myself. I love the games, but I couldn't care less about the anime at this point.)
you two get out of the forums this instant Same. I love some of the fanart and fanfics I see, I'll be buying XY when it comes out, and I love the characters from the anime. But I don't really have an interest in keeping up with the show anymore, other than an episode here and there and maybe the movies.

My mom once refused to let Bob Dylan play her guitar. #AdditionalInformation
whoa what why? o.0

Heya, I like community but I don't watch it that often.
Is it very popular in Netherlands?
Comedy Central reruns episodes occasionally. Even my brother eventually ended up liking it just because it was on a lot :p
I hear lots of good things about it. I'd watch it if someone presented me with DVDs of it. (just throwing that out there to anyone here who feels like donating to a worth cause.

Regarding the whole "being in to Pokémon" thing. I am watching the entire series again. Mostly because it's still a fun show to just watch and enjoy. And I'm also playing Pokémon White when on the toilet. And I'm also reading Pokémon Adventures Manga (on rare occasions) because I just discovered it and it's wildly different. It's intriguing to say the least. xD Still, I'm not that fanatic about Pokémon anymore. Just hit a Pokémon period recently, you know? One time it's stargate, then Inheritance Cycle, then Legend of Zelda. Ya know?
Do I want to know how long you're on the toilet for? xD

And yeah, I go through cycles for my interests too. Currently into Gravity Falls and Silent Hill.

I think my life would be a David Lynch movie.
Does it make more sense than Mulholland Drive?

I tried the Mafia section once. I wasn't very good. ;w;
^

Ow why is that? If I may ask. I am doing fine, a bit excited because tomorrow I am going to a hotel for my work :D, not my first time though.
I don't think my boyfriend is gonna make it online before I go to bed. :c But that's good to hear! What for, if you don't mind me asking? Sounds pretty fun!
Ow haha yeah that can be disappointing, ow for a customer. Once a week they want me to be there a discuss how the project is going and such. It rather far away from where I live
so that why I stay in a hotel :d.
Neat! Or at least in theory. Do you enjoy your job? If not it could be a hassle.

Ah well, we have the weekend to look forward to. =w= Oh, I see! That sounds pretty interesting. I've never stayed in a hotel before, what's it like?
Not even when you've traveled?

Hey kids! Done with school for the day and EXHAUSTED.

I'm chatting on Facebook with a friend who is studying abroad in Germany this semester. We're talking about foreign language FAILS we've had.
Ooo, any really funny examples?

Apple cider is good. Can't stand apple juice, though. :/
I'm the opposite.

I think it's easier to call things BUY THEIR PROPER NAME. PAVEMENT, TROUSERS AND BLOODY CIDER.

:p
go eat some fries ya crazy basturd

I feel so conflicted, because Ed/Roy is totally my OTP, but there's so little proof of it in canon. Especially in the manga/Brotherhood continuity, where they each have clearly-established female love interests (both are more ambiguous in the 2003 anime, IMO). And I really do like both of their canon romances too.
I never really got into Roy/Ed beyond a father/son type relationship. I could do Roy/Hughes though.

But I'm a sucker for their canon ships. <3

@maria; yeah, I think you're more recognized as the person that used that avatar xD
Agreed. and for Min, her Minnie Mouse themes. :p

and people still call me fab XD
you'll always be fab, fab.

I'm okay at speaking Spanish, my accent is amazing apparently, but I'm best at reading and translating.
That's my strength too, although I'm still leagues away from native speakers.

And my spoken Spanish is crap, I could probably only hold a conversation with a three year old.

Then again, maybe everyone's native language sounds boring to them. The Japanese certainly do like inserting random English words into their pop songs, for instance.
I'd agree to that. After using only English it doesn't sound like anything special to me.

So, what, rumors about Ash getting a Sableye? My girlfriend just told me.

I have one thing to say regarding the subject:

WTFGTPFGO BYHIEVPCORIGTDOXIRDOGDKLRUTIETVUSTIO UIE5SO5 96BTSVUIET9EUTVDMTY;DROYURDIYVSU,COREWPEPWTVIWOETYAY?T;SITOV TGJRiDUNNOMAYBEBADTPIUTVROYITRET56TV565E6BETVDGTDR

That is all.
That would awesome! <3

so I think I know why Poliwrath always looks so angry

he's realized that he has no mouth, at least that's MY theory
Yep. No means of getting drunk.
All it can hope for is that it'll get Alcohol Absorb as a hidden ability in Gen 6.

Or if that's too much Colonel Mustang.
I wasn't aware there was such a thing.
And since this was forever ago in internet time you already went and had this as a sig. It looked lovely. ^^

Oh, I know most of the plot already. That's part of why I'm skeptical of Brotherhood, because of a few things I really enjoy about the original anime that I know are different:

a) I like having a human Big Bad.
[…]
c) I feel like Roy is a more interesting, complex character when he's the one who killed Winry's parents. But then, he's pretty interesting and complex regardless. He still has all those Ishvalans on his conscience.
[…]
These are things I like about the first series too, along with having homunculi as failed human transmutations father than creations the Big Bad specifically made and the score. And the art. I’ve heard complainants about it and saying it fails in comparison to the manga/Brotherhood, but I think it looks gorgeous.

There are others, but those are the main ones coming to mind atm.

Yeah, I think FMA was a gateway drug to anime for a lot of people.
That, Inuyasha, and Yu Yu Hakusho. (Not counting Pokémon, Digimon, Gundam, and Sailor Moon because I wasn't aware that they were anime until around the time I discovered those three. [/slow])

Anyone here watched The Sopranos?
I know of it, but never watched it. I wouldn't mind doing so though.

Oh god, the image descriptions.

Nintendo sure put their label on a lot shit back then.
xD

Where is the most exotic place you have been to?
Northern Cheeseland/Wisconsin.

yes i am that deprived

OK, let me rephrase it. Where is the farthest you have ever been from where you live?
Yep still northern Cheeseland.

And yep still deprived

Florida doesn't get things like tornadoes or earthquakes, but we do gt hurricanes. And sink holes.
I've never experiences an earthquake or a hurricane, but tornadoes aren't unheard of here. There was one on my eighth birthday that cut out the power and made me scared of even a little thunderstorm for two years afterwards.

But I got a Pokémonbinder and towel that day, that was kinda nice. But it was my worst birthday ever.

I generally dislike parties. I never have fun at them.
^

I can't remember the last time I went to church, 11 maybe.
I) Tradition (like Christmas)
II) Some event with relatives/friends (baptizing, you know the drill)
These are the only reason I go.

Still, the swell-hang-out-spot factor of the record would be ruined by my inability to entertain people, I'm sure. Yet another wasted opportunity that would be, if I even do get it.
When you work in a shop you don't really need to entertain people, just help them.
^

And sometimes pretend to be entertained by them.

My first job was working at this bookstore in a nearby mall. I got fired for reading on the job.
Nice. xD

Am I the only person from the west coast?
random but i''m just wondering
I'm from the Midwest so...
This for me too.

Is anyone still on?

I'm back from my PAR-TAY in Jamaica Plain. I did not get laid, but I did make some new friends and had a fantastic time! And danced with some cute girls!

(Almost all the couples dancing close together were either male/male or female/female. It was just like fanfic!)

And the BEST DJ EVER! They played old songs from the '60s, '70s and '80s that I actually knew!
Late, but huzzah for stepping out of your comfort zone and having a gay old time! :D (figuratively speaking, there's always tomorrow for the literal version)

citrus allergy? o_o
looks like i learned something new today... didn't know that existed.
Me either until I read it here, although with over 7 billion people on earth I should be surprised by this point.

That sucks GBM. D:

I wouldn't have minded if they merely condensed the backstory a bit, because yeah, if you've seen the original it's a bit of a slog. But there are some events in there (mainly, the two big deaths early in the series) that just don't have as much impact as when you've had a few more episodes to get to know those characters. And that bothers me, and that's why I think for FMA newbies I'd still recommend that they'd see the 2003 anime first.
Hear, hear.

Cereal is the best but only cap'n crunch really

All others pale in comparison
I love Cap'n, but it cuts the roof of my mouth. (I don't care what he said on Family Guy, he was lying.)

Lucky Charms are where it's at.

I also rewatched FMA on there, although they only have it dubbed. They don't have Brotherhood iirc, so I'm watching it subbed on Hulu (which I mostly prefer since I really don't like Vic Mignogna's voice. It's a pretty good dub otherwise, but when the voice that annoys you is that of the protagonist, that's kind of a problem).
To me, he is Ed. *biased from seeing the dub of the first anime first* Except when he's a kid, then it's kinda odd to hear his voice. (Although I haven’t looked that much into his personal life to know about homophobia you mentioned earlier. I thought he was just anti-Roy/Ed because of its prevalence and people constantly asking him to say the Roy miniskirt line at cons.)

And then it's the reverse for Al in Brotherhood, from the bits I've seen. I can't bring myself to watch it except for the OVAs and the movie. And possibly any anime-only scenes.

And I like DST in the fall when we get the extra hour, but not in spring when we have to pay it back.

So no one wants to comment on my concept? Sure I'm never gonna make it happen, but I would like output damn it. :p
