You can't force someone to watch something. The best way is to not over hype it and hope they eventually get around to it.

Yeah, the more people bug me about watching or reading something, the less I want to do that.

For me there's kind of a fine line. If a lot of people independently say "Yeah, that's a good show/movie/game," then I'll be likely to look into it. If a bunch of people say "OMG THAT'S THE BEST SHOW/MOVIE/GAME EVAR I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT YOU SUCK" then hell naw, I'm not touching it.

I don't think that it's the BEST THING EVER although FMA 2003 is probably tied with Madoka for my favorite anime.

I mean, both versions of FMA seem to lead to extreme reactions (although, I will note that FMA 2003 didn't have that reaction before Brotherhood came out, at least among anime fans).

I don't think I ever said you did.

Apparently it's from April Fool's 2007.

Were they just lazy this year? Or..?

@Col. Roy Mustang; I found Brotherhood to be much better than the 2003 anime. But they were both good.

Btw @TheMissingno.; I'm at episode 41 and I'm still heavily leaning toward 2003 as my preferred anime.

But I still have 20-odd episodes to go so I'm not sure yet.

I just hate this frickin' Briggs arc. I think the whole Aesop here about racism is so over-simplistic and kinda offensive tbh.

It's also the rushing of stuff in the beginning, and the fact that I heavily prefer the 2003 OST and, more importantly, the way they use it, and that's a big deal to me as a musicologist/composer.

There are a lot of things I like about Brotherhood, but a lot of things I strongly dislike, whereas I can't find much to criticize about 2003. Other than maybe the fact that it's so Ed/Al-centered and some of the supporting characters get less development, but I don't know if that's a "weakness" per se so much as a preference.

If you don't like Briggs then you probably won't end up liking Brotherhood better. Though the endgame lasts for like 10 episodes and it's a really cool part so who knows. I don't care if you like 2003 better, but I liked Brotherhood better and I think a lot of other people did too.

You guys are lucky, not having to worry about mixing your internet life with your personal life. I have to keep this place completely secret from both my parents and my friends, and if my parents in particular found out there'd be no way I'd be allowed to stay on the forums. My parents are uber protective.

That must be the ruse of the year, considering you're a moderator.

The biggest weakness in the 2003 anime is the way they introduced Greed.

You literally only have to click the skins to see "bananagarden - april fools 2007", you don't even have to select it. There just is no excuse for not knowing.

It gets annoying, because I can't be on BMGf when mother is home at all because she's basically looking over my shoulder twenty-four seven. When she's not here, though, I manage to hide it pretty well, but I've had a few close calls.

Yes, there is. I didn't see it. Just because you've seen it doesn't mean everyone else in the world has.

See, but if that's your biggest weakness I don't think that's much of a weakness.

I don't mind if people like Brotherhood better, it's just that I get the sense that a lot of the complaints people have about 2003 were not there until they had another anime to compare it to, and I think so many of the complaints really boil down to "it's not the same as the manga!" which, to me, is a really stupid reason to say 2003 is bad. Different doesn't necessarily mean bad!

And that's a general gripe I have with fandom, not just FMA. I feel the same way when Harry Potter fans bitch about Prisoner of Azkaban, easily the best of the films when judged on their own merits, because it was the first one to really depart from the books rather than being the strictest-possible adaptation.

Allright, there is one reason. If you have never changed your skin before this moment. Still seems odd you'd never change your skin though.

It's actually not much more of a time commitment to mod than to not. You just spend your time on bulba differently.

I personally switched my skin to Distortion World. Many of our other themes are impossible to read.

I think you should come out of the closet. You will get caught eventually, and you might get a worse punishment if you are caught.
