Alcohol actually tends to make me quite sleepy which is why I guess it's so relaxing and helps me sleep sometimes.

Haha I left my scarf in the grad student office yesterday.

Probably proof I am spending way too much time here.

I never plan to get drunk myself, but I have no problems with others doing it as long as they know their limits and aren't overdoing it at all.

I could be wrong here, but isn't getting drunk the consequence for going over your limit?

My school's next opera production is the weekend of my birthday!

It's like they knew exactly what I wanted for my 23rd: some Mozart. :)

I'm trying to decide if I should have a gender marker and, if so, which one.

Filling out my gender is usually not that complicated. But when everything else about my profile is "MUSTANG" putting myself as Female feels a little weird.

Wrong, the limit is getting killed like the limit of drinking so much water. Some people it takes a couple of drinks to get drunk, others a lot like me but regardless sometimes you just don't realize that you are drunk. People assume when you are drunk everything goes bad and you do everything wrong but again misconception. Also you can drink and stop at a couple. There are no extremes and nothing else.

Getting drunk isn't a bad thing, hangovers are eh a shower and some massive amounts of food should help cure that. It is just okay,

Getting drunk isn't a bad thing, it just makes you lose control of yourself.
That makes a lot of sense.

I don't know, maybe I just have a problem with people getting drunk because 100% of the ones I see are like:

"Woah.. last weekend was awesome! I don't even remember it!"
I don't understand this in the slightest.

I've never been drunk enough not to remember things (at least, not any more or less than I would remember sober), and I've been pretty drunk in the past. Just because someone wants to let loose some of their inhibitions (especially if, like me, you have anxiety problems and therefore, excessive inhibitions) doesn't mean they want to completely obliterate their mind for a night. There are different degrees of drunk.

Hangovers are also pretty easy to avoid if you plan ahead. They're caused by dehydration, so if when you're drinking, you alternate every alcoholic drink with a glass of water, you probably won't get a hangover. It's always worked for me when I've done that; problem is, Saturday night, I didn't do that.

You don't understand how you can get so drunk enough so that you don't remember anything? Well, that's happened to me to a degree. I've never had an experience in which I can't remember anything what happened but it's fair to say that I don't remember 80% of what went on, the day after.

I think he meant he doesn't understand how one can know a weekend was awesome if they don't remember it.

When I get smashed, I still can remember most things just the very little things you forget even If I wasn't drinking, I wouldn't remember the little things.

I hate how people try to play the moralist and say that drinking is bad. Okay you don't like alcohol, just leave it at that but to say that you don't understand people who like get drunk, that's just unfair especially when you don't drink at all.

The conception that it makes lose control is wrong as well. You are still in control of what you are doing and you still can make choices. I'm sorry but you can't base this just on your mates that maybe even pretend to be drunk as well.

Well I don't think drinking is wrong or look down on those who drink regularly. It's their life. I know what you mean, a lot of people use 'I was drunk' as an excuse to get away with things. In that sense I agree with you. I do think you can be so drunk you don't realise your own actions though. It depends on the person.

Being a super-nerd and rocking out to Mozart's Requiem. God I love this piece.

It's impossible to sing the "Dies irae" and not feel all wrathful yourself.

(Which I have done, thanks to college choir. Sometimes I miss it, and then I remember 4:30-6 pm rehearsals and I don't.)

This has been my classical music geek moment of the day, everyone carry on.

I look down on drinkers. And it's definitely because of those who give all of 'em a bad name.

See why do you look down on them especially since you don't drink, it seems really unfair to put. It is really just playing the moralist and I really dislike that. You had bad experience with your mates that well and good but you can't let a small sample dictate a generalization nay your hypothesis on why drinking is bad. It seems you see it in extremes as in black and white rather than many shades.
