I see.

Speaking of Margaret Thatcher, I feel somewhat bad. My entire family all hate her for whatever reason, so I've naturally been brought up with a dislike for her. But, now I wonder, what did she even do that was so bad?

Statements that start with "I wonder" are basically what Wikipedia exists for.

Wikipedia's long walls of texts with vocabulary I barely understand are the reasons I don't use it often. Plus in school we're banned from using it, and that habit sticks. :p

The thing is that wikipedia is a good way to find sources, most wikepedia have sources you can use to check the wikipedia article.

So wikipedia just a good point to read a summary and then check the sources for more info.

You must live in a dark world. I can't stand continuing to not know something.

Is your school stupid? For some strange reason, some people are infused with the notion that every piece of information on Wikipedia have the possibility of being wrong because "anyone can edit it".

There is nothing wrong with using Wikipedia, as long as you take it for what it is. A good article on a subject usually have references, you could always cross-check if you're feeling very paranoid.

I certainly wouldn't cite it as a source, but it does make a lot of things a lot easier.

Also, bought Luigi's Mansion 2 this weekend. Liking it so far. Also bought Supreme Commander cheap, dunno when I can get the time to play that.

I could list so many reasons why the answer to that is yes.

Well, good thing to have cleared that up then.

Whenever I think I'm good at math, I just look around on Wikipedia, and suddenly I'm not good at math anymore.

I know I'm not good at maths because I need to use my hands to count half the time.

Well today my family got an invitation to my ex-uncle's wedding in June.

I don't feel like going to it because I kinda hate him. Though we probably won't end up going. Besides, my sister could be delivering her baby by then.

How does it feel being invited to something you really don't want to go to?

Ehh, when you pass a certain level, actual numbers start getting scarcer.

How does it feel being invited to something you really don't want to go to?

Is that question rhetorical? I would assume you have a feeling for it at least.

I'd just say man up and do it. A wedding is hardly the worst thing I could imagine.

Wikipedia rarely gives you the usable forms of equations. It's good for understanding theory but in order to put them into practice you need to either look in a text book or derive shit yourself.

I like chess games where one side castles king side and the other castles queen side.

Since no one actually answered you;

A quick summary of reasons she is so hated.

Poll Tax in Scotland - This was essentially an extra tax that Scottish people had to pay, it was only tested in Scotland. At this time many working class families were out of work or just in poverty, and now they had to pay more money.

Put many industries to death that would typically support a large part of the poorer, working class workers, for example coal mining.

Stopped children receiving milk in school, if you're poor then this was a worry, your child was missing out in essential vitamins that you couldn't afford to make up for.

Falklands War, this was a war we fought with Argentina, she used this war to her benefit to get relected. Soldiers typically came from poorer families (seeing a connection yet?). So to the working class it was like she was sacrificing their sons and brothers for her benefit. Britain illegally fired onto an Argentine ship which was leaving the battle zone, they should have been able to freely exit. 600 people died and Thatcher wanted the British public to rejoice.

She created an over-reliance of the financial sector, since she was scrapping the typical manual labour industry, such as ship building. This over reliance has left us in this current financial crisis. Britain is too in deep with banking and financial workers, making them a financial elite with a lot of power in how our government works.

She was essentially an 'every man for himself', ultra conservative politician. Scotland hated her so much that the Conservative party still has a difficult time gaining power up here.

When I heard she was dead today, I figure she can't hurt us directly anymore, but her politics can still be felt today.

She was The Iron Lady, the People's Witch.

Why are so many people disrespecting this woman in death. As far as I'm concered, she has done a lot of good and is one the politicians I admire. (then again, I am a conservative).

HAVE SOME FUCKING RESPECT FOR YOUR LEADERS DAMMIT! SHE DIED TODAY! AT LEAST WAIT A WEEK BEFORE YOU MAKE JOKES!

I'm not using it to actually learn math. It's just that there's wide topics I've never even heard of at all, and it's good to sometimes step back and realize there's still a lot left to learn in the world. Intellectual stagnation is pretty dull.

People earn respect. I don't see how leaders should be exempt from that, if they have done a lot of unpopular things, why should they be respected.

I have no opinion on Thatcher, so I won't say anything there.

Just remember guys if you want to get all opinionated and fired up over Ol' Maggie, take it to the Bus. It's cool for lighthearted discussion, just don't start any rows.

Cheers.
