My number-one rule is don't become a giant squid of anger over dialects of English.

For those wondering, my number-two rule is the same.

No, rule #1 is always have cookies on hand. Everyone in this thread knows that.
And even those that are outside of the thread know that.

Speaking of which I figure I'll be back in here for a bit, might as well.

@Satoshi-kun; Oh, seeing you posting just reminded me to ask. Is Dragon Quest X any good? And by that, I mean, is the single player enjoyable? I'm not much of an online guy.

Last DQ that I've played was IX, and I loved it. I haven't played X yet, but I am sure that it will kick a lot of arse! I'm not much of an online person either, but I would think that Dragon Quest, of all series, would make sure that the single-player experience was solid.

I have things I have to do, boring but important things. Ugh.

I hate doing work. I'm starting to wonder if I'm just laziness personified.

I mean most of this stuff isn't particularly hard or time-consuming but still UGH.

I have the same for schoolwork lately. Especially papers. Though it's also that merely thinking about a paper stresses me out so much I keep stalling it to the end. Which means it stresses me out again when I'm writing it all at the last moment which means I'll be even more stressed for it next time. Vicious circle.

Well my school semester is over, but like, I still have all these motherfucking errands I have to do.

Like I should probably file my FAFSA soon.

Can anyone explain how accents come about in the first place? Is it the weather? Why do people from the South sound different from the Scots or an African or an Australian. It's the same damn language.

Linguistics, the study of language, is extremely complex. I think the most basic answer to your question is this:

Language is a learned skill. Generally speaking, language patterns become "set" in the human brain by age 4 or 6. That means that the language you think in, how you physically form vowels and consonants with, what order words appear in, and a huge list of other things all become an intrinsic part of each individual's mind. You become "set in your ways," so to speak. That's why a non-native speaker will typically have an accent.

This line of thinking also explains regional accents - you learn to speak from adults who, in childhood, learned to speak from other adults, who in turn learned from other adults - you see where I'm going with this. It's like sitting in a circle, and whispering a phrase from person to person: Eventually the phrase becomes garbled and the meaning can change dramatically. The more isolated a community is, and the longer it is isolated, (linguistically speaking) the more the accents will change over the generations.

Nobody's sending anything anyway. That's my next appointment. I don't even know if hospitals can mail stuff.
Sucks you can't pay anyone to mail it back.

(In west Philidelphia) Born and raised Roman Catholic, around the age of eleven or so I pretty much didn't regard myself as religious and that basically remains true today.
Basically the same. I started to dislike going to church when I was seven or eight, because I was the only one you had to wear a dress to it. I asked my mom why she didn't have to wear one, and she said, "because I don't like the way my legs look." Well I didn't like the way mine looked either all frozen and such in the winter, Mom. >:T

I'm an LDS Mormon
read that as lsd first >>

It's awesome. The support conversations are the best feature imo x)
fuck yeeeeees they were so nerfed in Radiant Dawn (last one that I played, didn't buy Shadow Dragon.)
June 14 is the day Animal Crossing comes out. You shouldn't be playing fire emblem on that day.
But but

Fire Emblem > Animal Crossing

I haven't been able to really get into Animal Crossing since the original (and to a lesser extent Wild World), I might have to give it another go.
Same. I mean I still like it, but one of the big reasons I liked the Gamecube game is because you could play NES games in it.

Wild World has a lovely LP: The Terrible Secret of Animal Crossing

One of my favorites.

You're only meant to be Confirmed after you accept your duties as a Christian, after all, [...]
Unless your mom makes you.

But wait, there's more!

Finally we get some form of character customisation.
Yaaaay it only took six generations~ (Four if we count PBR.)

I usually remember dreams if they're scary. xD
Same. :s When I was 7 or 8, I had a dream my parents had another kid, and then two years later they ended up having my little sister. Weird coincidence, though thankfully it didn't play out entirely like my dream, considering my mom and the baby were murdered.

And then my dad abandoned my younger brother and I. Then we...went on some journey to some water park.

One of the weirdest dreams I ever had (that I can remember anyways.)

I kept waking up during the night because of my cold. I dreamed about fire emblem a lot apparently x)
Sounds epic. The FE part, not the cold part.

I wish I had nothing to do. Actually I don't really but I class having to do certain things on video games as a chore ^^'

I need to clean my fish tank out though, it's started to grow moss balls O.O
Like what? That's how I felt about watering berries in Gen 4 after awhile.

Ugh. :x One reason I don't care to have fish. An axolotl on the other hand...

I wish I had fish. Every time we try to own some they never last long... I wonder why that is. :(
Belated welcome to the thread to you! :D

Sometimes I wonder if fish are the stupidest creatures alive. They are content with living such sedentary lives. They literally do nothing and are content.
that's basically me on bmgf and tumblr

Well then. What do you guys like to watch on YouTube?
As of late, Attack on Titan OP parodies, MPGiS, and Your Grammar Sucks.

Fennekin is too mainstream. It's this generation's Smugleaf. Just, like Oshawott, its evolution will look sick and the haters will eat their words.

#teamfroakie
I think all the starters are cute. :3c And I'll probably think the same about all the new Gen 6 Pokémon once they're revealed, just like with past gens.

I never understood the huge rave over fox Pokemon. I guess people really like their foxes.
I lost my Like virginity because of foxes. (✿◔ ◡ ◔)

I haven't posted in this thread for a while I think. Should I pull a KM and massquote?
I'm debating whether to be happy that there's such a thing as "pull a KM," or be sad that no one else wallposts outside of mafia games. Oh Wallpostopolis, syour days of glory are long past. :'(

But moving on from that, it was a glorious wallpost. Like Fab I commend you for your efforts.

I would if I were you, massquotes are awesome. -w- I'd probably do them if I had the time and patience. Unfortunately, I have neither, so I'll leave it to KM.
Boldoredash and poppybrock! If you have enough time to Bulba you have enough time to wallpost. >:U we are going to ignore that it took me over a week to reply to this

Moll said:
Yus. Massquotes are the best kind of quotes.
Singular quotes are cool too, though! >:c
not as cool as wallposts. expanding wallpostopolis and doing those on mt. wallpostmore proud, one giantic wall of text everyone ctrl+f's through for their name at a time!
emotgladiator.gif

Ok massquote time! I'd like to dedicate this massquote to @Kakuna Matata; for doing this on a regular basis, I now know what she has to go through to make these. Respect!
Not as regular as in the past because of all that, but we'll see what summer brings!

It's amazing that she does this often even in Social Groups where they don't even have that nice multi-quote button.
(Oops I gave her a mention, oh well. xD)
I didn't even use the multi-quote button. I just open each quote in a new tab and c/p it from there :3
Same, because if I want to keep chatting in the thread I have to go back and unselect all the quotes. why i don't make it easier on myself and just relog in is a mystery
(And how dare you, Minnie. >:I)

@Kakuna Matata; You have a rival now, this guy is serious for this competition :p
(I can't remember if she makes use of multi-quote button. Honestly I think she might not, given how she quotes posts from different users into one.)
Maybe one day his face will be on Mt. Wallpostmore.
(You got it.)

I think I hate BB code now. And its not allowing image maps. I make an image with a bunch of links inside of it, and I have to cut it into a bunch of different pieces, since each link has to be its own image in BB code. Never again.
Actually I think it's possible to have text go over an image, as Rayne used to have that in his signature. What you want does have to be done in split images though.
You can use the div tag for that. Something like this: [div="width: 600px; height: 15px; margin-top: -35px; text-shadow: 5px 5px 6px black;"]

Ermahgerd other people watch Let's Plays! Yay! I've tried to get people into them but no one ever "gets it".
I hate lp's. If I'm interested in a game I'll play it myself thank you very much.
What's to get? Other people playing video games? I'd rather play them for myself, in any case.
Depends on the LP. I love the screenshot ones by From Earth (His SH3 one was where I got this avatar from), Chorocojo, The Dark Id, and the Animal Crossing one I mentioned earlier in this post.

Sans Clock Tower 3, I played all of the games I read LPs of. If I don't plan on purchasing a game or playing it anytime soon I'll watch an LP of it.

I don't even know how to change my tumblr theme x) Not that I ever use my tumblr.
Me either, at least not to a theme that's looks super spiffy. But that's probably for the best, I spend too much time on there already.

Don't tumblr people always lose their shit over supernatural?
All fandoms lose their shit on tumblr all the time. SPN just gets more coverage.

Yay, I did it!
So proud. :')

Of course it ended right on the bottom of a page, sigh. Ah well, enough people should have a notification for it anyway.
If it's any consolation it's towards the top of page 719 for everyone who has 40 posts per page. (That's right, all three of us!)

You know what would be sexy? Loch ness monster legendary.
We kind of have one with Lugia, but a fully-fledged one would be a welcomed edition by me.

You know what would be sexier? If instead of legendaries being basically statues just standing around, you have sail to the middle of the lake and the monster attacks your boat and you have to battle its head sticking out of the water.
It'll be just like Hailfire Peaks in Banjo-Tooie!
EmotSwoon.gif

@Mijzelffan; Yeah, I saw that video and laughed my ass off. Especially the Christmas Truce and the bit with the queen.
Think he linking to it as a throwback to when you originally posted it.

It is super cold. How do you Northern hemisphere people deal with cold weather? I can't handle it.
Two jackets along with hand warmers, and five blankets for when you sleep. (I'm such a wimp when it comes to the cold.)

I don't care how long a hiatus gravity falls has, who really wants to see a new episode anyway.
This was funny until my tears began to cloud my vision. TT-TT

Megaquotes are the new fad. I lack the time for such an undertaking.
Fixed. I think you have the wit for it. ^^

Imagine the undesered sense of accomplishment the people in the F&G section would be walking around with. I say leave it as it is.
Hey it's totally deserved! Why should all my posts in there babbling on about random shit go unaccounted for when all the ones I make in this thread count?

And even those that are outside of the thread know that.

Speaking of which I figure I'll be back in here for a bit, might as well.
Hey @Soulmaster. Sucks about your notification loss.

And welcome to the thread (and back to BMGf as a whole), @industry!

All of them have different purposes and are made for fueling different types of automobiles and engines.

I have the dialect problem with gasses. What's the difference of English/American petrol, gas, diesel or gasoline?

Petrol (petroleum) and gasoline are the same thing. In the U.S. "gas" generally refers to gasoline, but is often used for any fossil fuel, whether it be liquid or gaseous. Some folks in the U.K. also call diesel petrol. Technically speaking petrol is correct for any product derived from petroleum - gasoline, diesel, kerosene, naptha, etc.

The physical/chemical difference... well, gasoline uses a spark to ignite, whereas diesel relies on the increased heat caused by compression for ignition. There are no spark plugs in a diesel engine.

Well, what matters is that cars only use gasoline or diesel, right?

I've actually never been interested in the difference between petrol and diesel; didn't know there was one. That's interesting though.

Guess who's off to the kingdom of books tomorrow? I'll be smack-dab on the border between Wales and England, which is pretty cool, plus since it's a schoolday I'll be missing most of my least favourite classes. -w-

Ethanol based fuel, LPG Fuel, Hydrogen-fuel cell and your petrol and diesel.

Yeah, it's just that here, we don't use such fuels. LPG is gradually starting to appear...

Here, we have diesel, biodiesel, gasoline, ethanol, and LP (mostly for forklifts and stuff like that). Actually it's hard to find gasoline that isn't mixed 90%/10% ethanol...

Gasoline engines can actually run off of hydrogen gas, too (for a while). How 'bout that.

Just odd things. I'm a bit OCD and It bugs me if a game has collectable items that I haven't found or certain bits I miss that most people wouldn't worry about. Watering berries was definitely a chore. Like picking acorns.

I'd love an axolotl. I planned to get one last year but my friend told me hers evolved into a lizard type thing. They might be too exotic for me.

I find this hard to believe. Containing it and more importantly controlling the flow of it is something I don't think regular engines can just do without modifying it, and the components are designed for gasoline combustion, not using hydrogen as primary source.

Today is geometry till I start to cry day. Can't go wrong with that!

There are laws requiring a certain level of ethanol to be used in gas I think. If I'm wrong about that, then I think that gas stations do it anyway because ethanol is cheaper than gasoline. What I do know for sure is that you get lower gas mileage with ethanol mixed fuel than you do with pure gasoline.

I saw a car once that had a couple biodiesel bumper stickers on the back. The exhaust smelled like fast food, it was kind of awesome.

It can, but unfortunately hydrogen gas is a bitch and three quarters to store.

You know, I legitimately have no idea what geometry is. Is that shapes and the sort, or am I thinking of something else?
