Chillin'. Right now I'm sitting on a couch watching TV because I'm tired from walking around all day.

It's still fairly light here, but I'm about 400 km further north though, so that makes some difference.

Oslo still treating you well?

Well, technically, it is only civil twilight right now in Oslo. Sun never sets completely according to my Day/Night app.

Yeah, it's pretty cool. We went to Akershus yesterday and we road a boat and we walked around and stuff. I was kind of disappointed that the guards outside the palace were allowed to move and talk, but the palace was nice anyway. We went down to Drammen yesterday because we wanted to see what a non-touristy Norwegian place was like, and we snuck into this really nice church while they were having chorus practice. Also, we watched two guys get arrested in a park in Oslo. The one guy just stood there but the other guy made a break for it and had to be tackled to the ground. Yes, I am enjoying it here a lot.

Well it looks pretty dark to me.

Well, they can move (a bit at least), and they can talk. Thing is, in front of the castle, one of the guards pretty much control the movement and patrol. If there's a shitload of tourists, moving isn't going to happen (very much, at least). Besides, it's just a short march, so I'd say you didn't miss much there.

Also, I've talked to people, you just have to find the right time. Regular tourists, nah, not so much. Might talk some during the night with people that want to (they would approach the guard), because at 3 am., you really want the hours to go faster, and there's barely a soul there anyways. Also, girls. Sometimes they would flash their boobs. Unfortunately, I was never so lucky to be on post when they did that.

Also, never really been in Drammen, just passed by it on several occasions.

Well it looks pretty dark to me.

It's a bit too south (and not close enough to solstice) for it to be that light at this time. Here, sun sets 40 minutes later and rises 40 minutes earlier, respectively.

It was around 12:00 noon I guess, and not too many tourists were there. Also they are currently doing construction on the entire front area of the palace so maybe that contributed to it.

Pretty much everyone does. Not only do they know English, but they speak it perfectly with almost no accent. The only person I've found who didn't speak English was the lady at the Chinese restaurant in Drammen (which had excellent reindeer by the way), but my friend speaks Chinese so that was not a problem.

Seems like a nice place. I don't have to waste money on phrasebooks or time memorizing phrases.

I'm pretty sure that's why it has one of the best governments, and why its voted the best place to work.

I think there minimum wage is higher too.

It better be since everything costs like 3 times as much as it does in the US.

There's no legal minimum wage in Norway, but entry level jobs usually pay a minimum of 133.46 NOK per hour.

At 37.5 hours per week, this equals about 21800 NOK in a month. Converted to euro, that's €2486. So if you are an adult in full time work, that should be the minimum before taxes. Tax takes about 36% at that income, so that's about €1600 after taxes. You also get about 10% of your income for a year back from the taxes as holiday pay.

Things are expensive, but not so bad on a Norwegian salary. You can rent a room for about €400, or a small flat €650+. A pint of beer is just over €6.

Don't know if that's good or not.

I had a horrible experience today. I was just finishing mowing a yard, and I was in the truck with my uncle about to drive me home. Then, on the sidewalk on the other side of the street, I see these two girls, and I swear to god that their tops were off and that they were wearing only a bra. It was raining really hard a few minutes before, so I guess that was why. I don't know. I couldn't really get a good view, as I was a good distance away. I was hoping that when we left, my uncle would drive towards them, but much to my dismay, he drives in the totally opposite direction. We could have gotten home just as fast no matter which way he turned. I felt so let down.
