Yeah, Maxis pretty much sucks now that it's a puppet of EA. Spore was the most disappointing thing since Star Wars Episode 1.

True, but the same can be said about Criterion, Westwood and Bioware (and probably others, but that's what I've got now).

And of course my favorite video game company of all time, Rare. Though that was Microsoft, not EA.

I've seen the gamplay and X-Play's review of it, which they gave it a 5/5, so I don't see how is that a disappointment.

Allow me to elaborate a bit about why Spore was a disappointment, if you will.

First of, we're dealing with a pretty awesome concept for a game here. The development of life, from cellular to space faring species, with the player driving that evolution, with everything from the creature itself to buildings and vehicles. Just a space exploration game of the scale Spore is would be pretty good (I know other space colonization games exist, that's not my point), and I'll give it to Maxis for creating a large galaxy. However, it doesn't matter if that galaxy isn't filled with ... anything of interest. Colonies are bland, you can't really do much with them. You can only have a small fleet, not micro manage a whole array of ships (which is at least what I presumed, at least compared to civ phase, albeit that was on a small scale). Now, if you add that to the extremely cartoony graphics and very boring editing abilities that could have been so much more, it's very disappointing to see Spore. Every phase is hollow, lacking content, and you can't strap together five phases without content and call it content. That right there is Spore's problem.

Most of that was directed at space phase, but it is, and rightly should be, a prominent phase of the game. Saying "I saw reviews and gameplay" is nothing, and the only real way to feel the lack of actual content is to play the game.

Huh, I thought that was EA as well, but not that it matters much though. Can't say I can recall playing many of their games.

I'm still pissed at Lucasart for rushing KOTOR II.

In other words, an original IP that failed to be in the same ranks as their other popular franchise: The Sims. But then again, the same can be said to the early Pokemon games because this is the first installment, so the sequels will no doubt fix the flaws.

Yeah, that was Microsoft. They pretty much just wanted Rare for the Banjo-Kazooie rights. When they were with Nintendo, they made some of the greatest games of all time, such as Donkey Kong Country, Diddy Kong Racing (so much better than Mario Kart in every way), Banjo-Kazooie, and Goldeneye.

Now they just kind of suck. Banjo-Kazooie Nuts and Bolts was pretty miserable. Though I do have to say, Viva Pinata was surprisingly good.

Well, I probably won't ask him when I have the capability to make one myself if I ever wanted to. ^^;

It's still a great avatar though.
