I never understand why my former friend from Yahoo told me not to listen to these books because they're made up despite the fact that these books are suppose to give out a message to the world about the dangers of our actions.

It's a work of fiction. Fiction is not reality so you shouldn't nessesarily listen to it because it is made up for entertainment purposes.

A work of fiction can still have a message that can be applied to reality. I had a dude tell me reading books was pointless once. Like, really?

If you're one of those people who don't read becasue "lol the stories aren't real" then you ate glue as a child.

They're more than just fiction, they're suppose to give out a message. Frankenstein and Jurassic Park are suppose to warn us about the dangers of science, and The Hunger Games shows us how dirty politics can get, to the point where killing kids is a form of entertainment, which is barbaric.

I agree about Hunger Games, the point is things will probably never be that way.

The Hunger Games (all of 'em) sucked. I'd hardly call them "credible" at sending a message. Katniss is the worst "hero" young readers could have.

^ Hey, we hardly get a female protagonist, give her some credit.

Actually, it can. Remember those recent murder reports on Florida regarding someone eating another's face? People linked it to World War Z, which involved zombies.

Too many in society seem to be anti-education, anti-book learning. I've heard people being called faggots because they read.

Art imitating life, or is that the other way round? 1984 is increasingly becoming more relastic. Governments already use different speech, for example 'collateral damage'.

People the don't read are either blind and do not desire to read Braille, or are dumbfucks. I'm not even a huge reader but I know the importance of reading throughout my life.

If Fox could get away with it they'd have a show of Iraqi, Afghani, etc kids being shot by the troops.

Never should be that way. But we'll see.

Battle Royale was better anyway

At least Battle Royale didn't have a piss-boiling milksop like Katniss in it. I'm serious, Katniss may be the worst character in literature ever.

What about...

Um..

Nah, I got nothing. Maybe I need to read more bad fiction.
